  1. Yep, great decorator! Always happy to recommend him.
  2. Anyone read about this? MailOnline: Mother-of-four's horror at discovering maggots infesting her home were a result of a dead body http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2773425/Mother-fours-home-infested-maggots-DEAD-BODY-decomposing-upstairs-flat.html
  3. My recycling hasn't been picked up for nearly a month now - anyone else having problems? Mine and my neighbour's blue boxes have been outside our flats on Melbourne Grove for nearly two weeks now... I've emailed and phoned Southwark Council to complain and raised the issue with Cllr Rosie Shimell who has given me various assurances that it will be sorted out, but the problem remains and to be fair to Ms Shimell, she sounds a bit narked at the situation too. It used to be picked up every Wednesday, then for a couple of weeks it mysteriously changed to Tuesdays now it's not being picked up at all. Just annoying as i like to do my bit for planet Earth etc.
  4. I agree whole heartedly and in fact wrote to Southern about it about three years ago. I mean, no one even gets off the train at muggers central, i mean South Bermondsey. NO ONE. Southern replied that it takes ages to change time tables and they have to have meetings with the Transport department etc to do it and that a lot of their timetabling was actually inherited from British Rail. Something does need to be done. East Dulwich is clearly the most important stop on the line - although obviously i'm biased, being a resident - and that should be recognised by the bosses at Southern.
  5. Has anyone else noticed a complete lack of ANY work being done at Denmark Hill train station? I haven't seen a single workman there in the three months the scaffolding and temporary bridge went up. I'm half wondering if they've just run out of money for the project. Oh, hang on, they have managed to cut some trees down. Wow.
  6. Sorry, *London*. Got a bit carried away.
  7. I think green and blue alone makes it one of the best high streets in the UK. And tandoori nights.
  8. Has anyone noticed a strange uriney smell at east dulwich station? Like a rabbit hutch that hasn't been cleaned out for ages?
  9. Re fast trains: I meant, from London Bridge... if they ever run a fast train south to east dulwich i will send champagne to Southern Headquarters. Or to Barry.
  10. Hi Barry, First off, well done for being so public spirited and running this very useful thread. My only (small) gripe is the lack of fast services to and from East Dulwich and Peckham Rye. The number of passengers that use South Bermondsey is negligible compared to East Dulwich and Peckham Rye, yet just about every train, every day, stops there - as if it's the most important stop in south London. And they get Victoria trains to boost frequency, too. Is it not possible to have just one or two fast trains that zoom straight to East D or Peckham Rye during peak hours? Is this something you can raise with someone? I don't know - the Controller of Where Trains Stop - or whoever? Anyway, again, top stuff, Barry
