  1. Rules of EDF #342: Anyone extolling the virtues of anything in another area has some kind of chip on their shoulder, directly related to the meagre value of their house and the fact that their local pub is unlikely to sell a ?9 fish finger sandwich
  2. > > lets keep this ED please. we dont want any of that > SE 15 stuff innit bludz. That brilliant! It's just like how people talk in Peckham! You've got it spot on!
  3. Yep - I've met white people from New Zealand, the USA, Hertfordshire, Hampshire AND Surrey in ED - it's a heady mix, almost a 'melting pot', if you like!
  4. Welcome to the area. Tip: Try 'Lavender' on Northcross Road for a caramel rooibos that's to die for. 'Sens d'irr?alisable' at the top of the Lane does the best foraged porcini and cupcakes in the area, and The Gowlett is a great place to leave your kids to run around while you have a quiet afternoon at home in the garden.
  5. So, BC Bikes does this completely free of charge? Or, how is this funded?
  6. If you are mugged be sure to post a really vague description on here, along with a hand-wringing comment like 'I guess I shouldn't really say this, but they were ______'
  7. To summarise: Folk music (which I like) = good 'Rap / boom boom music' (which I don't like / attracts the 'wrong sort') = bad
  8. Use the police? As opposed to vigilantism / whipping my neighbours up into a frenzy of fear by posting news of anecdotal muggings? What a good idea.
  9. If we all try hard enough, we can extract any joy whatsoever from the area, by bringing our Home Counties values to the inner city.

I suggest you move back to Hampshire?
  11. What do you suggest I do?
  12. What about that one everyone was raving about 3 months ago down by ED station. I think someone even started posting in Italian on here for a while to prove they knew about Italy.

  14. No-one ever abandons them - that will be worth ?20 to someone, it's probably in Deptford by now. The other popular thing is to take them to scrapyards - not sure of the going rate but it's > ?0 - mate once turned up a perfectly rideable Cannondale in a scrapyard, thieves aren't really bothered about value. I'd also check Gumtree, as it's essentially a legalised 'fence'.

  17. All internet threads on crime generally descend into '4 Yorkshiremen' within 9 posts - discuss
  18. Peckham is safe too, you can't move for bloody 30-something first time buyers / documentary crews
  19. Oh, for god's sake, not this 'it's getting worse' debate again. You're amongst the safest people in London and amongst the most unlikely to be victims of crime, stop whining. I love how the story's angle takes in the Olympics and the fact that he's a composer. It's paper shorthand for 'he's middle class', you see. Which makes it worse, obviously.
  20. Someone did a fiddle-dee-dee version of 'With or Without You' which was.... interesting.
  21. Booze tombola was a good one this year..last year it was only bottles of Stella. They had bottles of hard stuff / some bubble bath thrown in the mix this time

On average, I imagine you're looking at about 3 months of the year where people could potentially sit in the garden until 11pm. Of these, I imagine half are raining / too cold to sit out. So you're trying to clamp down on something like 45 days of the year, for a venue that's hardly a hive of noisy hedonism. Stick it to them!
