  1. Busy Bees at the Horniman would get my vote. Plus there's rhymetime at Dulwich library.
  2. You new dads will regret inviting anyone with a child over six months - we all think we're experts! May I suggest Tuesdays at the CPT? There'll be champions league football on most weeks so, you know, it's not just men meeting up to talk about babies which is a bit, you know, well you know. I'm not that interested in the football, it could just be an ice-breaker. That's all. I wouldn't ever make a weekend date because as someone says that's generally for family stuff but if you were to say every second Tuesday in the CPT I reckon I'd be in.
  3. Perhaps the problem is not the bendy buses but stupid parking on Etherow Street? God knows now the school is back there are innumerable accidents waiting to happen
  4. Is there anything to stop the admins publicising legal threats? I mean if something is said on here, the business or person about whom it is said threatens legal action then we users can refer to the original thread and decide if they are right to take offence or if they are just being twats. What I'm getting at is that it might limit the amount of legal threats if businesses thought that they'd end up looking a bit silly and precious? Or do legal threats have to be kept quiet? I'm not a lawyer.
  5. It's a total con. A smart one trying to cash in on confusion about HIPs and general environmentalism but a scam all the same. Spend your ?30 on energy efficient lightbulbs instead.
  6. The real Dr Garden obviously lives in Cricklewood. He shares the house with two others
  7. OK thanks, now we're getting somewhere. We've got the tower blocks at top of Friern Road in the way and probably Dawson's Heights too. Sounds like Freesat it is.
  8. But I've heard from nearby folks with outdoor aerials that they still have problems. Seems to be more to it, possibly due to proximity to the Crystal Palace transmitter. If someone could provide a definitive answer as to what's behind the problems then hopefully the answer to outside aerial vs freesat will become clear.
  9. So we have freeview which we receive through an indoor aerial and it's incredibly annoying as the picture freezes and pixellates whenever a bus goes by or even if you just shift position on the sofa. Searching the forum, it seems a few people have problems with TV reception in the area and there's lots of different reasons and solutions offered. Can anyone provide a definite reason for TV reception problems in East Dulwich? And does anyone have Freesat and able to recommend it as the way to ensure a decent picture?
  10. Get over it and go back to sleep. It's efficient. By the time I get up the bin's been emptied and can be returned to it's rightful place.
  11. I'm not anti police but when walking up Lordship Lane last night I reached the tape and asked the officer if the road was closed off to pedestrians too or if I could walk up the pavement. He said it was all closed and added 'this tape seems to confuse people' in a sarcastic way. I pointed out there was people walking up the other side of the pavement. I have no idea if they were breaking the cordon, or witnesses held inside the cordon or what. Why did he have to behave like such a c0ck to a blameless and polite member of public?
  12. I love this forum because I wanted to know what was going on so came on here and sure enough got an answer. But some of the responses on this thread have been weird.
  13. The Principal appears to be called Bart Cannon. I'm sure the new pupils won't need any help from me but that is one letter away from a classic nickname right there.
  14. I think every party is entitled to one free mailshot. So doesn't necessarily reflect donations, support etc.
  15. You've gone off topic and must now be shot. I'm not sure why you'd think I was referring to otters in the context of eating them anyway, unless you are a fat man who thinks about food a lot. Can anyone answer the question? The beer tent is more pressing than the otters
  16. Anyone know if there will be either of the above at the Dulwich Park Fair on Sunday?
  17. I'm with Louisa. Sorry but the new bit is dire.
  18. Indeed it was a most excellent event. Can I make some suggestions to improve it without being branded negative? The stage was in the wrong place. There wasn't room to sit around it because of all the stalls so folk had to sit on the grass at the other end of the green. Could move it next year or leave more room round it by moving the stalls? Also lack of beer tent was a bummer. It was a good day though, hopefully we get similar weather for the Dulwich Park event this weekend. Anyone know if the otters are coming back?

What does 'covered in glory - not' mean? I made my point, it was never anything personal and you conceded a few days ago that it was 'not unfair'. End of. Now you go all Waynesworld on my ass with a petty and personal dig. I can't understand under what circumstances writing 'covered in glory-not' would seem like a big or clever thing to do.

I didn't want to report the message. The word did not offend me particularly, I know and use much worse words on a daily basis. I am simply interested in fairness, even-handedness, justice one might call it. I didn't think the person in question was being a (insert swearword of choice here) but if I did - and there are plenty of times when people on here say things that I think are really dumb - I would just ignore it rather than call them something designed to wound, humiliate or offend.

But as I understand it Sean is an administrator. He's taken down one of my posts in the past which was far more innocuous than some of his recent comments. If he can't police himself should he be allowed to police others?
  22. From the bus last night I noticed that at the Dog Kennel Hill gate to the Sainsbury's Park there was an old tyre with the words 'Last Chance Hamlets' painted on to it. I presume it's something to do with the Pink Army, Dulwich Hamlet. Anyone know any more?

In today's utterly stupid 'bloody nappy valley' thread Sean McGabhan called another poster a fuckwit. And in response to a fairly sensible comment. That seems to break the rules on a few counts as far as I can see. Yet no action was taken. Are there different rules for different people?
  24. Of course this is a good use of taxpayers money. As has been noted planning regulations have to be enforced. What's being suggested by some here - that the council only stop the bad people from breaking the law but let the nice folk do what they want? Nuts.
