  1. Apple juice, whatevs ;-) Cider is where it's at. There's loads of apple trees in East Dulwich already and, I'm led to believe, a community orchard near Melbourne Grove. There's already some folk do this with grapes. They collect grapes from folks gardens and turn it into wine. Here they are - http://www.urbanwineco.com/ Couldn't we do that with apples in east dulwich? The end result being some sort of late summer East Dulwich cider festival? (I am copyrighting 'East Dulwich Cider Festival' here and now OK?) I've got two apple trees. Has anyone else got the wherewithal to get a project like this off the ground? Or an ability to make cider? Or TV contacts so we could make it into a documentary?
  2. Why would you hate your children to call themselves 'dirtgirl'?
  3. Think it was shortly after the first scan for us, so around 12 or 13 weeks?
  4. Been to Amy and happy to recommend her now. Top work (and reasonably priced)
  5. In what sense are you planning to get your baby into Gumboots in January? We've been on the waiting list for 18 months and still not at the top! But yes the plan is to move to Nunhead this month as I understand it. Minibus in the morning but you'll have to make your own arrangements at the end of the day. And they hope to be back in East Dulwich in six months. They won't be.
  6. I tried the pool and it's fantastic. But I think you just have to accept it is not a facility aimed at small children. If you want to go swimming with little kids go to Peckham, it's hardly the other side of the world. (Or Beckenham, which obviously is a bit more like the other side of the world). It's OK to have some facilities more geared towards adults and some with more for kids. I appreciate there's a lot of kids in East Dulwich but the pool is what it is, unlike Peckham Pulse which was purpose built more recently.

    Zippos Circus ..

On the Zippos website they have endorsements from Scottish animal welfare places. No idea if the Scots have lower standards than the rest of us.
  8. Thanks. I am a total numpty. Tickets were in the spam folder. Since I only use hotmail on my iPhone these days (oooh check me!) I don't see what's in the spam folder automatically. Doh!
  9. I booked too but haven't received an email with tickets yet. Has everyone else received theirs?
  10. No need for building work. We went for a tour, rooms looked nice and all fitted out with brand new ikea toys. But with no kids there it was impossible to judge the place really. It seemed ready to open, I wonder why it hasn't.
  11. I know there was issues when Bojangles closed. But then up popped Sure and Firm. I went with my toddler to look at it a few weeks ago but it was hard to make a judgement when there were no kids there yet and only one staff (the manager, who'd come from Excel in Forest Hill, wasn't there some news story about Excel in Peckham?). Anyway they were planning to open September 6 they said. I decided to wait and maybe have another look once it was open and one could get a better idea of the atmosphere and ethos there. I walked past this week and the church remained closed up with a banner outside saying 'Sure and Firm foundation Coming Soon'. Anyone know what's going on? Surely you'd have to try really hard to bum up opening a nursery in East Dulwich?
  12. Can I ask how much she/you charges for a pregnancy massage?
  13. Usually some friendly dads at Peckham One O'Clock club. Also worth pointing out that mums are alright too. THink it does both genders good to not just mix with their own kind
  14. Omeprazole is the shizzle. Our midwife said don't suffer with it, go to the doctor and get the prescription. Made the heartburn go away almost immediately. (Magic is the word for osteopathy btw)
  15. Someone from Barbados is a Bajan
  16. Ooh *Bob* I love it when you talk dirty. (That's not appropriate on this thread is it?)
  17. There's two issues getting confused here isn't there? The peeing sounds reasonable. The littering is obviously unacceptable. What more is there to say? Oh, this - portable potties?! They cost about ?13 and most likely the mother in question had better things to spend her money on. I really don't understand why the world needs portable potties. My parents managed without such a thing and I shall do the same.
  18. In Sheepdog's defence it sounds from the tone of these posts that he's not obviously dangerously (to others and himself) mentally ill, just an annoyance. Trouble is I guess things could escalate.
  19. Grove vale cordoned off by police. Traffic chaos at goose green and buses diverting via Peckham. Predictably v slow thru Peckham. Anyone know why cops closed grove vale?
  20. Someone mentioned these on another thread. Sound flipping great for long train journeys (such as the one we're about to take on next week). Can anyone recommend any specific apps as educational/distracting/fun etc?
  21. Toddler apps?? I'm off to start another thread...
  22. Ah thanks. I remember the Bojangles palaver and thought there was a connection. Still nothing in that thread about what the new nursery is really all about so if anyone has any info would be gratefully received.
  23. This new nursery planning to open next month. Anyone have any info about it? Believe it's replacing a previous nursery in one of the churches but is it a christian thing or is that just the location?
  24. Can I just say you're all weird? It's wholesome. Lots of good stuff about recycling and growing your own and that. Though Grubby's voice is rather grating
  25. Page 15. He's a local boy, I've definitely seem him around town. Props to him for his campaign to get himself on telly as much as possible. There should be all sorts on screen, not just young attractive people. Bit sad that he describes himself as 'quite unsightly' though, I'd say he's just normal looking. (And I don't think there's anything wrong with discussing him on the forum given the nature of his campaign, and the coverage).
