  1. Bound to NHS guidelines makes them medical professionals in my book. Why don't all the 'good' nutritionists just go pro and become dieticians? Then they wouldn't have to worry about being tainted by the stain of Gillian McKeith would they? As I said, with nutritionists there's a risk you're going to get a nutter. With dieticians that risk is minimal.
  2. You'd be surprised how many different offices a Royal can get round in one day. Princess Anne is quite hard working. If you consider stoating around shaking people's hands counts as work. Which it doesn't. She hates journalists. Like really hates them.
  3. Or why not bother taking the risk with a nutritionist and just go to a dietician since they are medical professionals while nutritionists expound some, er, interesting science.
  4. Just shows how poncey East Dulwich has become if you think the Mag's last incarnation was 'spit and sawdust'. Brilliant.
  5. Will there be free sausages and chips like there used to be at the Mag?
  6. Shame I missed the meeting but I think I'm against the development on subsidence grounds more than anything. But I don't see what the financial side of things has to do with anything. Surely it's up to the developers to decide if they want to take the risk or not and how much money they will make or lose on the deal is not a reason for accepting or rejecting a planning application? Or am I missing something?
  7. Have to agree that best to leave the 'anti-social' kids out of this, it's an argument that simply can never be backed up whether true or not. I'd like to come to the meeting but can't make it as other half is out so I'm in charge of the baby. Will you be reporting what is said somewhere - either on this forum or on a Bara page somewhere? The subsidence issue seems to be a deal breaker. I'm thinking about looking into whether I can sue somebody because I'm sure my house is falling apart due to the number of buses going past. The council is doing roadworks on Etherow St soon and I think it's repairing the hump at the end of the road that they've not long put there, within weeks it busted up by the volume of bus traffic. A block of flats with an underground car park surely won't stand a chance.
  8. So the answer to the question 'are you man enough?' is no then? It was a good quiz, a proper test unlike Hoopers silliness.
  9. It's the Prince Regent tomorrow Mr Nutty. Are you man enough?
  10. Liam, thanks for your advice on checking the programme etc but I've tried a different system every year and still end up seeing about 50% dross each year (apart from last year when we went for a Stewart Lee themed programme - Stewart Lee, Josie Long, Richard Herring, Late but Live)! On an East Dulwich theme this year we have Kitson's theatre piece and Josie Long already booked up so got a couple of bankers there, by the law of averages does that mean Mullone and Fabbri will be guff?!
  11. Vital point here is surely that it happened a month ago. But apparently then it wasn't worth posting. Now in the 'current climate' it becaomes post-worthy, adds to the growing hysteria and whips it up further. We're on a media-led merry-go-round folks, they'll move on from knife crime soon enough. Probably to floods if the weather doesn't improve.
  12. Charlton friendly is July 30. Indeed part of the Chris Dickson deal. A friendly against Arsenal academy the following Saturday which should be good too
  13. Yellow is good. Better than the previous mauve incarnation.
  14. Ryman's division one south, missed out on the play-offs by a whisker last season. Highly entertaining - that's the crowd and sometimes the football.
  15. The porn shelf is still well stocked
  16. Hairist is amazing. Especially in summer with the sandals and socks combo. I love the fact he must look in the mirror each day and think 'looking good'. There's an old lady who knocks around sometimes who wears a blue mack and often a headscarf and goes around softly hitting people on the arm as they walk by her and spanking young men. It's a strange experience that can leave one very confused on a number of levels

Trust me MW74 I have a very good working knowledge of diddy journalism. I know exactly what this jumpinjourno is up to and it's pathetic. They should be down Bellenden Road knocking on doors trying to find out what went on instead of trying to manufacture stories via this forum.
  18. This doesn't affect me. I'm not in a gang, I don't do or deal in drugs and I'm not some messed up schemie who spends all day drinking then fighting. So why the fuss? Because some diddy journalist from a two-bit paper has come on here trying to whip people up into some sort of demo like the one in north london to get a story. Don't take the bait.
  19. I think the biggest issue is watching sport. It's nice to have a pub where lots of people can go to watch a big game without it being particularly lairy or whatever. That used to be The Forresters, then the Mag, next it'll have to be the CPT (and The Castle next if, heaven forefend, the CPT should succumb to the gentrification virus) but it's sad that the choice is diminishing. It helps to foster a sense of community if people can go watch big sporting events together.
  20. I understand it's going to be changed into a restaurant. Which I think will leave the EDT as the only place to watch sport. I almost hope England don't qualify for anything ever again.
  21. So we all just accept that the system is to blame and get on with it rather than trying to change anything? Just accept that there has to a local duff school and it's Goose Green and those that go there can be written off? I feel sorry for those kids and for those people who aren't 'naive, deluded and idealistic' if that's how it's to be
  22. I'm not expecting people to sacrifice their children's education for a political principle. If people followed the principle then everyone would receive a better, well-rounded education and society would benefit. Of course you didn't design the system but you don't need to accept it. You say you agree with comprehensivisation, so do something about it, you'd feel a better man for it and your child would benefit from having a parent who not only sets a good example by living up to their own ideals but would also feel more confident and happy in themselves as a result. I'd rather be 'naive, deluded and idealistic' and actually believe in something than cynical and selfish, and I hope my children turn out that way too.
  23. I left my car unlocked in the drive for three days last week. No one nicked it. East Dulwich is officially safe. (And if that's not an invite to rob me tonight I don't know what is!)
  24. This is bad news. It clearly has the most attractive bar staff in East Dulwich and can only hope they are kept on. How many times has this place changed hands over the last few years? Seems to have changed every year or so.
  25. Oh god it's the narrow minded-ness that drives me to despair. All this talk of working hard and choices is so very Thatcherite and totally fails to address the point I'm making. I'm not accusing anyone of not caring about their children's education or not trying to do the best for their kids. But surely the way to do the best for your kids is to have them mix with children of all different backgrounds in a school where the majority of parents take an interest and where those values can be spread to kids who are not fortunate enough to have such enlightened and caring parents. It's about treating your child not as simply 'your child' but as a member of society. When he/she leaves school he/she will have to share the streets with the kids who went to the 'crap' school, kids who won't know how to behave or be disciplined. If there's four schools in an area, one turns out A-grade bourgeois pupils while the other three turn out feral kids then those A-grades aren't going to help your quality of life much are they?
