  1. I've had a number of people ask me whether there is a Spring babies thread, and I was sure one had been started, but can't for the life of me find it. So... here's a place for you to convene! Thanks FRM
  2. If you're expecting a baby in the summer, this is the thread for you. Use it as you wish, but please, no advertising. Many congratulations to you all. FRM (retired, must arrange for someone else to set these threads up!)
  3. It does seem to have disappeared, and I'm afraid I'm not sure why. It hasn't been hidden by a moderator, so I can only assume it has been deleted in error, which sometimes happens by mistake when moderators are using small devices to browse the forum - it's very easy to hit "delete this thread" by mistake. Apologies to the original poster of the thread in question.
  4. Hello lovely family room community. Six years ago (almost to the day, it was the 10th August), I took over as Family Room Moderator. I thought I'd do it for a year or so, but as tends to happen time flew by, and here I am, something of a veteran. However, it's time for change. At the end of the year my family and I are moving from East Dulwich to New Zealand (how many of you are now going "aha, I know who the FRM is!")? As a very long term user of the forum, one of the first few I think, I doubt that I'll cut all ties, but I won't be around as regularly, or at particularly useful times for moderating purposes. I have contacted a few people who I think might like the role, but would like to see if anyone else might be interested before Admin and I pass the baton. Some details: - it's voluntary (but you get paid in feel-good factor, for having helped your local community) - generally it's not difficult, these days the family discussion room is a pretty calm place to be, so I very rarely have to intervene. Mainly it's about hiding spam and removing rule breaking posts - you need to have an open minded approach. Sometimes there will be discussions you disagree with. - it doesn't take long. If you're a person who quickly checks the forum over your morning coffee and again with your evening glass of wine/beer/tequila you can do the job. I had a 3rd baby during my 6 year stint and never felt I couldn't keep up with the moderating role. Personally, I've really enjoyed it. When I'm out and about I often hear people referring to the forum, I see groups of Mums and babies meeting up and smile knowing I set up a thread for them to use when they were first pregnant. It's a valuable local resource, and needs committed local people to help keep it a success. So, if you think this is something you would like to do, or want more information, please get in touch by sending me a PM. Family Room Moderator
  5. Ask and you shall receive! I've set one up for you now, congratulations!
  6. If you are expecting a baby in the winter months, this is your thread, use it as you wish. Please, no advertising. Congratulations to you all. FRM
  7. Autumn parents-to-be... congratulations! Please use this thread as you wish, but please, no advertising. Wishing you happy and healthy pregnancies. FRM
  8. If you're expecting a summer baby next year, this is your thread. Please use it as you wish, but no advertising. Thanks, and congratulations to you all. FRM
  9. Hi The discussion page has never been used for advertisements of any sort, nannies/childcare belong in the classified area. I moved your post, noticed the re-post and deleted it. I am a volunteer, as are all of the moderating team, so do this role as well as raising my family and working. I move/delete upwards of 50 posts a day, it's just not possible to message every single person.
  10. Please be aware that cn150 is a "troll". He/she also posts as Bob Buzzard, purely for his/her entertainment, nothing being written bears any resemblance to real world events. Don't feed the troll!
  11. Apologies, I see I did remove a post back in February. I cannot find the correspondence relating to it, but I don't remove posts lightly, so must have felt it justified to do so.
  12. Hi MrsPR I haven't removed any posts relating to Piplings that I can remember, nor have I received any requests to do so. Do you have a specific example of one that you are aware of, as I will look into it for you.
  13. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,1544261 You can use this thread - I have edited the title to include February babies too. Congratulations.
  14. Sorry all, I'm a bit behind the ball with the baby club threads and don't generally set them up until someone asks/reminds me! This can be the "official" thread for winter babies, I've edited the title to include February due dates too. Congratulations to all of you.

I'm not sure which moderator moved the post, but in some ways I think it will reach it's target audience in the lounge - those who aren't interested in the gossip that tends to make it's way to the general section.
  16. Having read through this thread I agree that there are a small number of posters who are contributing nothing but stress for parents who have, or are about to have, children at the school. Please refrain from using this thread as a political soapbox, or a place to unleash hidden agendas. Apologies if the thread no longer flows nicely, I've had to hide a number of messages throughout.
  17. Did you put them in the right section? Family classifieds for your nanny post, business section for the language lessons.
  18. It's been a while since I had a grump, but of late there have been so many business advertising their services in this section that I am starting to lose my patience. If you run a class, offer tutoring, look after pets/children, help people lose weight (etc etc), then you should not post in this section. Zero tolerance from now on, I've previously been moving threads that are in the wrong place, but the list of repeat offenders is as long as my arm and the hours in a day are limited, so threads will be deleted without warning. Thanks.
  19. I have removed a post at the request of Piplings nursery.
  20. Minder, it's more your assumption that the absences are something that can be planned/avoided. Admittedly it's a touchy subject for me due to the way our family has been treated by the school - but 2 out of 3 of our absences in the 4 years my eldest has been in full time education have been due to death or serious illness. Not something that can be worked around school holidays.
  21. This thread is for you to use if you're expecting a summer baby. Arrange meet ups, discuss all things baby and pregnancy, feel free it use it as you see fit. But please, no advertising. Congratulations to you all.
  22. It's worth noting that Sam1977 shares a surname with the person listed as the company contact. Definitely a fake recommendation, but they have saved me a job by editing their own message.
  23. Sorry all, I'm on holiday with limited internet access, so have seen all the reports but not been able to act on them very quickly. Normal service (from me, at least) resumes next week.
  24. Congratulations to those of you expecting a Spring baby. Please use this thread as you see fit, but please, no advertising. FRM
  25. Given that you are listed as deputy manager at Bright Horizons, maybe you would like to tell us whether it's any good? Remember that moderators are able to see registered email addresses for users...
