Dulwich Eco Gardening - Professional Landscape Gardening / Design
sylviamaria replied to saied's topic in Reviews
Another recommendation - Saied has been working on our jungle of a garden (front and back!) and made it usable again! He has been working extremely hard and has listened to what we wanted. -
Easing back into fine dining - any ideas?
sylviamaria replied to nunheadmum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I would say the ledbury in town is pretty amazing or for a little day trip the sportsman near whitstable is great as well. We still try and get a good meal a couple of times a year since we had our daughters. Enjoy! -
Maddy's is indeed great. The chips in particular are fantastic! Also brockley's rock on brockley road is good.

How many nights have you left your little ones for?
sylviamaria replied to verds's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Well, baby is pretty chilled as long as she gets her naps in. She will also have her older sister around, so it won't all be different! I don't think she is too young. It's just , you second guess yourself when someone says something. grandparents should also be fine. Will be my dad and my mother in law, so 2 hands on deck! Thanks! -
How many nights have you left your little ones for?
sylviamaria replied to verds's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Having read this thread I d like to ask what age you were happy to leave your little one? We have left our first 3or 4 times now for one or two nights. We 've since had another and have been invited to a wedding abroad when she'll be 8 months old. We 've booked to go away and have grandparents looking after both, but my mother in law is saying that baby is too young. I felt happy with it all till now, but I'm having second thoughts! I d love a little break with hubby and I dint want to miss our friends wedding (taking the kids would be too expensive). -
Putting a baby to nap with a toddler around
sylviamaria replied to Convex's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi. I had the same issue with my daughter. She is 3. I started by leaving her to watch tv. Initially she would call out every minute to ask where I was. After a while she was more than happy to be left watching tv, to the point where she now suggests it. I am now working on reducing tv dependence! Baby is turning out to be a good sleeper for her naps (touch wood!). X -
First school holidays holiday....Help!
sylviamaria replied to Maki's topic in The Family Room Discussion
You can take the ferry from Athens to islands really close by (less than an hour or two from Peireas). Spetses, Aigina, Hydra and Poros are a few of those islands. Alternatively Nayplio is a lovely town a couple of hours drive away from Athens in the peloponnese. -
No advice needed really, I just needle a good moan. Woke up this morning with a blocked duct, which seems to now have developed to mastitis as I have a temperature. 3 year old has been tantruming all day and 3month old decided not to sleep much and scream instead. I am now expecting a call from seldoc hoping I will get antibiotics. What a mother's day it has been!:(

what's your family's favourite food?
sylviamaria replied to SE22mum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
There are plenty of oil based cakes and biscuit recipes to choose from.for example Carrot cake (without the frosting). Also Greek and Italian dry biscuits with oil and flour as a base and flavoured with cinnamon, fennel etc. The sweetness oftn comes from the flavourings and dried fruit as opposed to the sugar. -
Hi there. We moved to Catford from nunhead about a year ago. We have a 3year old and a 3month old. We are on the other side of Catford to where you are moving (corbett estate), so closer to hither green. There are plenty of groups and nice parks and playgrounds (mountsfield park, ladywell fields and manor park are a few). Schools are meant to be good too - our daughter will start at the nursery in September Not many mummy cafes yet, but hoping that will follow soon! Good luck with the move. X

what's your family's favourite food?
sylviamaria replied to SE22mum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Oh, I love food, so hard to choose favourites!cottage pie, pasta puttanesca, fish pie, Greek spinach pie, macaroni cheese (with blue cheese and mushrooms), Greek bean stew (gigantes). Banana bread is a good and easy pudding. As is just fresh fruit with cream or yoghurt mixed with cream and honey. I better stop now, getting hungry! -
I have to say that this thread has relieved me slightly. My 3 year old daughter has turned into a little ... cant really find the words! I was worried it was the arrival of her little sister 2 months ago, but the blog describes her perfectly, so it must be an age thing! When does this phase finish!? Everything I say she has an answer for, she has decided she doesnt like any of the foods she used to and she can go from happy to screaming in less than a second! I am mentaly exhausted most evenings!

Hypnobirthing - has anyone tried this?
sylviamaria replied to kayla81's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I would like to recommend Suzy from Limitless You ([email protected]). I did a hypnobirthing course with her in Autumn and gave birth at home - as planned - on xmas day to a 9lbs 8oz back-to-back baby!!! Suzy really helped me find what worked best for me in order to achieve this and was great support! -
Thank you again for the support. I have been feeding on demand, pumping and doing skin to skin and I think the milk is finally coming in. Only problem is how sore my nipples are (sorry if TMI!). Latching is a killer!

Thank u all for advice. Unfortunately it was a bit too far gone for cabbage leafs and I ended up in hospital on IV antibiotics. Should be home soon again, but I am a little worried I have completely ruined milk production... Fingers crossed I will be able to keep going. Thanks again

Happy New year! So yesterday I developed mastitis when my milk came in. I have a 1 week old (and 3 year old). I have had a temperature since yesterday lunchtime. I have been feeding from the effect ed breast as much as possible, expressing in the shower, massaging in the shower and used cabbage leafs. I still have a temperature (taking paracetamol) but the breast isn't engorged any more. How do I know if it's getting better? It still really hurts, but like a bruise would... I cannot feel any lumps any more, but that may be due to massaging too eagerly and bruising so much that I ve list some feeling?! Any help appreciated.

sylviamaria replied to sylviamaria's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Still looking, if anyone has one or knows where I can best look for one... Thanks -
Does anyone have a monster costume we can borrow (happy to pay in cake/wine) for my daughter? She is almost 3 and her preference is to be a green monster and we will need it for a party next week. Thanks
-
Hi. We are having a little party in a few weeks and I would like to have a nice cake made (preferably Black Forest Gateaux!). Can anyone recommend someone who can make a great tasting, moist cake (dont care about the look toooo much)? Thanks :)
