  1. We went to look for the cat again this evening. There was no sign of it. Can other people also look out for it too? Please contact Cats Protection, Stray Cat Club or Celia Hammond (as mentioned in the posts above) if you see it.
  2. There is a small tabby cat which seems quite distressed and lost behind the bins outside the back yard of Superdrug at the Lordship Lane end of North Cross Road. It is terrified, running in and out of Superdrug’s back yard and across the road and back again, and looks as if it could be pregnant. It is also starving – a passer was feeding it. We weren’t able to catch it as it was too scared. Did ask the Neighbourhood Vet if anyone has reported a missing cat, but they said not.
  3. Thank you to fishboy and the other locals who rightly challenged the contractors! We're all lucky that you happened to be in the park at that time. This beautiful tree is worth fighting for. It has now survived two misguided attempts to fell it, the first in 2013 and the second in 2025. The actions of local residents have saved it on both occasions. Let's hope it hasn't been too damaged this week so that we can all continue to enjoy its beauty.
  4. For me, this all started back in 2013 when I saw a notice on this tree which has always been a landmark and favourite in Peckham Rye Park. Local residents saved it then and it has gone on to flower beautifully every year since then. People love it, it’s beautiful in all seasons (see photos). It’s had to put up with the vandalism inflicted on it by the setting up for the Gala festival last year, in order to make way for the horrendous Berlin Wall that now appears annually. Too much of a coincidence that this tree was ‘in the way’ last year and suddenly is in dire need of felling this year, before Gala swallows up even more of our park. Could it be that all about the money?
  5. Can't believe this stunning tree, which looks beautiful whatever the season, has been lopped to make way for a metal monstrosity. Vandalism!
  6. The bird's name was CHALKY Here's Chalky!
  7. We would like to strongly recommend Andy (along with so many other extremely satisfied customers on this forum). His company is called Andyman services and we have seen other threads (eg. Handyman recommended ?.. Andy/ Recommendations for Handyman needed) where customers have posted very positive reviews about him. Andy has completed other jobs for us in the past, including painting and decorating and bathroom works. Today he has just given our shower room a makeover and it looks fantastic! He removed old silicone and replaced it. He also sorted out a leaking shower tray and renovated a sink and shower head. Andy cares about the work and was keen to ensure that the various jobs were completed to our satisfaction. We were impressed by the way he tidied up as he went along. He also left the area he was working in looking immaculate at the end of each day. Andy is helpful - offering advice and tips about how best to maintain the works in the future. He is reliable and professional and we are extremely happy to recommend him!
  8. We would like to strongly recommend Oli Hawkins ? Exterior Design Gardens (Gardenman ? Nigel?s son) and Aaron, a member of his team. There are other wonderful reviews for them on this forum and we reiterate everything that has already been said. They have done amazing fencing and architectural trellis work for us to cover up a neighbour?s ugly fence. The difference they have made to our own garden is astonishing! They had really imaginative suggestions and the standard of their work is excellent. They also create patios, pergolas, flower beds, lawns etc. and maintain gardens as well. They are a pleasure to deal with and are prepared to go that extra mile as they really enjoy and care about the work they are doing. They are prepared to listen to your ideas and help you develop and visualise them, before creating the final design for you. We couldn?t be more pleased and would not hesitate to recommend these extremely professional young men to you! Contact number is - 07549418219
