  1. Many months ago a very resourceful Forum member produced neat credit-card sized timetables to/from ED. I still use them all the time and an updated one would be great. Sorry I don't recall who it was, but thanks in anticipation.....
  2. Sledgehammer & nut. I assume they have declined reasonable requests before potentially being criminalised for wilful obstruction?
  3. Just walked home from the station and passed 2 parked cars with their side windows smashed in (Melbourne/ED Grove corner and Bassano/Blackwater corner. I've noticed in the past these seem to happen in bursts, so just a reminder to keep stuff hidden. And sympathy to the car owners.
  4. I went to Silvester Road on Thursday morning for this very reason, but there was no post there. Two things I had been expecting then arrived Friday and Saturday. Both had been somewhere in the system for almost 2 weeks (First class UK). I'm guessing there must be a sizeable backlog.
  5. Barry I'd just like to add my voice to the chorus of thanks for the visible work you and your colleagues have put in to our station. The improvements really are appreciated. Regards Z
  6. All the buses on route 40 seems to have been replaced. Air conditioned, very comfortable (for a bus) and good leg room. Tried one out this morning and all the 40s going south were similar '09' registered.
  7. I just walked over London Bridge and saw one heading south with "Dulwich Goose Green" on the front, so that may be your answer. I also spent 15 wasted minutes on top of the wasted hour yesterday at the police station stop waiting for a 40 which never came. Didn't know they weren't doing Lordship Lane (TFL website didn't say that yesterday). So I suggest people walk down the Lane as there was no hope of getting on the 176/185 at 7:30 this AM.
  8. A new train timetable starts from Monday 15th December. The morning trains from ED to LB have some small changes (a minute here and there), but there's also a reduction in off-peak daytime services. Currently these leave every 10 minutes 'on the 6', but are reducing to every 15 minutes 'XX:14; XX:29; XX:44; XX:59'. I haven't checked the evening return times beyond mourning the demise of my personal favourite 17:47 fast train home! *sorry*-just realised this is covered by another thread already
  9. There are new Oyster card readers at ED station this evening, although not yet in use. Hurrah!
  10. I saw what I assume is your little van parked on Melbourne this morning and wondered what had gone wrong! I hope you are able to resolve things. Good luck!
  11. Good luck -I'll be one of your first customers!
  12. Addison Lee are outstanding. And if you've internet access, you can use this link to set up a login. I used it last weekend at about 4am and the car was outside inside 10 minutes: https://www.addlee.com/login.xhtml?conversationId=12343
  13. Thanks - will remember at next renewal time.
  14. I find it odd that my annual train pass can't be loaded onto it. I'd still need to go through the barrier at London Bridge and there's no check at ED anyway. In fact in 3 years of commuting from here, my ticket has never been checked at ED station or during the journey. I know it's different if you have a tube pass as well, just seems like a simple improvement.
  15. In my experience, yes you can. Mine's hard wired - not sure if wireless makes any difference. Watched several BBC iPlayer things recently.
  16. I think I mentioned Eclipse on another thread. I'm just round the corner from you and have had perfect, fast service for about 18 months now (you get what you pay for). Agree with others on Orange - truly shameful and inept. www.ecplise.co.uk
  17. Must stand up for the TCC here. It's one of my locals, I've been going for over 2 years and I have no complaints at all. Agree the BYO is excellent, and I have probably 20/20 or more good experiences. Just felt the need for balance, soapbox now returned to the cupboard under the stairs.
  18. Try Sainsbury's online. Been with them for 3 years - ?51 a month B&C for 3 bed terrace.
  19. Here's looking at you - Blondie
  20. NCB is just carried over. The point here is that it is the same company, not a different provider.
  21. Apologies if this is nothing new, but just though I'd post in an attempt to save folks' money. My car insurance renewal with More Than popped through the door the other day. As expected the premium had gone up a little and they had removed the 'free' breakdown cover. Monthly cost was to be ?50 and some pence. I played around online to see if it was time to change insurers and the best quote I got was from.......More Than! And to the tune of ?10 a month less (?124 overall) including breakdown cover. I've just phoned them to query this and been told (very honestly) that it is usually cheaper not to renew, but simply to start a new policy, which I have now done. And yes, all other cover was the same. So if others' renewals are due, its worth checking online with your existing insurer as well as other ones.
  22. I noticed from my train window this morning that the roofs of the flats alongside Queen's Road station have had the majority of their lead flashings ripped off. Just wondered if this problem has extended to ED?
  23. This made me laugh. I wanted walking directions in Leeds and Googled it. Up came Foxtons walking directions. Having completed the to/from boxes, the walking route returned included a walk down the motorway! I've checked a couple of others too and it's the same. Perhaps they've finally snapped with all the bad press?
  24. Can anyone confirm the rumour that the old fried chicken place by Moxons is to be a bakers? Hope so.
  25. Used Haart to buy 2 years ago. A couple of things to beware of (from my experience), first we put an offer in and spent two days negotiating through Haart until we reached an agreed price. After all that was done, I got a call from the 'manager' at Haart who I'd not dealt with up to then saying 'OK, so there are now 2 of you offering the same price, so will you go higher?'. This was the first I'd heard of another bidder, and it seemed odd, so I called his bluff and said to forget the whole deal. An hour later he called back to say the vendors had decided 'Just to go with my offer'. The vendors later told me they weren't aware of any other offer. Haart's 'Financial advisor' also phoned me and said they were not allowed to pass my offer to the vendors without 'Checking my finances first'. I told him he was a bit late as the offer had already been made. He then tried to extract personal details for the sole purpose of trying to sell financial services I didn't want/need. During the process, there were several occasions when Haart phoned me asking for documents they already had. Once because there was nobody in the office that day 'Who could check the fax' (how difficult is it?). I think its the same with most agents and you just need to keep well on top of things and manage them!
