Speedo Pizza moved - what's happening to empty shop
ziggy replied to Bo Peep's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
As an occasional customer, I care. The landlord upped this rent by 25% killing any profit margin, so he now just has his Forest Hill pizza place. Can we avoid the usual good shop/bad shop bile please? -
I also recommend Matt at Casa 07957 249722. He supplied and (his colleague) fitted a complete replacement fireplace for me about 5 years ago and it's great. Bob at Junction has indeed shut up shop.

Interested in cycle to work in the City?
ziggy replied to jonsuissy's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Good luck with this Jon. I've just got myself a bike again after a few years and did a trial run last weekend - about 25 minutes from SE22 due north to EC3 via Tower Bridge. Hoping to start properly on Monday. As for cost Lane lover - ?350 for the bike (which I also use at the weekends for fun) and accessories plus maintainance, versus ?648 for an annual rail pass is a clear win. Do you take the TFL suggested cycle route Jon? -
jctg - which threads? I went past in a taxi at 8:30 and saw paramedics attending to someone on the ground. At 11:30 the area was taped off.

Getting to Heathrow (or Paddington) early morning
ziggy replied to snowman's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
In my experience, this is by far the best option for the airports: Airport Direct Services I last used them twice in February between SE22 to Heathrow. ?39 for an Audi A7 or E-class -
Overall performance of Train services in ED?
ziggy replied to linzbee's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've been using the line for over 6 years now and overall it's a really good and reliable service. The 7:29 is my train of choice and I can't recall the last time there was any problems. If you don't have it already and have a smart phone, the National Rail app is brilliant. I have a 10 minute walk to the station and the live running times mostly removes any waiting time or disappointments. -
space for removal lorry outside house??
ziggy replied to returnee's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Perhaps if you give the road name only, there may be a couple of people who live there with cars who might PM you and you can make a plan? -

Updated train timetable to print out

I'm trying to download the files attached at the head of this thread, but each link takes me to the Forum general page?? Ideas anyone? Thank you -
The mess of plastic bins makes my road look an environmental disaster. I particularly like all the blue bins left on the pavement by people who have no reasonable space for them or simply (reasonably) don't want them on their property. Thank you Southwark you complete tools. Perhaps if you/government outlawed the ability of the ever-increasing numbers of businesses/people to deliver what accounts for the 99.9% of the crap that comes through my letterbox, including from Southwark, then we would not all need these apalling plastic eyesores on our property/roads. (I heven't read all the other comments, so sorry in advance for any repetition)

Quote the Data Protection Act back to them as the reason why the personal data they hold must be accurate. You are helping them comply with their legal obligations by alerting them to their error and they should, at the very least, record the fact.

37 Bus Route - good and bad comments please
ziggy replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
A really useful route which I often use, although don't rely on for work as others do. Perhaps consideration could be given at least to increasing numbers on the core part of the route, so some buses only do say (selfishly!), Goose Green to Clapham and vice versa - in addition to the current service. Plus more after 9pm of course. -
Gridlock all round there right now. Main road closed townbound and side roads blocking up. Go through Peckham if driving

Attempted mugging last night (11th May) - Melbourne Grove
ziggy replied to xone's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Just trying to help - not in the slightest bothered either way how anyone chooses, with reason, to describe someone. I do recognise that the past few years has seen a significant increase in Forum members, NOT this thread, who, in my perception inflame others' threads unnecessarily. Hence the reason I largely stopped using it. So to be clear, it's only a suggestion which people may use/ignore as desired :-) -
Attempted mugging last night (11th May) - Melbourne Grove
ziggy replied to xone's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I hope you are recovered xone, I use this route daily. A general suggestion: I've seen many posts on this forum over the years relating to criminal incidents and concerns, the description of which often includes the poster's description of a suspect. Occasionally, the way in which skin colour is reported causes offence to some readers. Could I suggest a Forum policy of, where posible, using police identification codes? For those unfamiliar, these codes relate to the apparent ethnicity of someone about whom a report is made, rather than a statement of colour as follows: IC1 ? White European IC2 ? Dark European IC3 ? Afro-Caribbean IC4 ? Asian (in the British sense - ie Indian, Bangladeshi or Pakistani) IC5 ? Oriental IC6 ? Arab/North African IC0 ? Unknown ethnicity So for example IC2 Dark European might attach to someone not from Europe but with a dark mediterranean appearance none the less. Just a suggestion for anyone who may feel this approach might mitigate sensitivities. -

Thanks boswell - send good luck for the exams! The iPhone app is excellent, but the little table is always useful pinned up in the kitchen and at work!
