  1. You forgot 'Foxtons employees'.
  2. *Bob* I never said that this forum invented the term.
  3. Since society continually downgrades/sidelines the role of the father, I'd say the original use of YM - given its connotations of 'look how wonderful/beautiful/successful/enviable I am as a mother whilst my City dwelling husband supports my lifestyle' - is misandristic. So using YM in a misogynistic sense probably counts as irony.
  4. 'Yummy' is fine, unless you then follow immediately with 'mummy'. That is, of course, you are describing how to cook them. Roasted, whole, with an apple shoved in their gob is my recommendation...
  5. Off thread... The quote should be: "There are 10 types of people in the world - those that understand binary and those that don't".
  6. I must admit, I'm still undecided between Boris & Ken who to give my second preference to. The boor or the buffoon?
  7. Can we lose the phrase 'yummy mummies'? It really does make me want to puke...
  8. No, no. People should just stay at home. Dominos is your friend.
  9. Can I take the Sean McG approach here and suggest that if everyone walked less and walked more carefully there would be no problem at all? :))
  10. I have no problem with parking laws and fines. But, until there is a financial disincentive for councils to stop issuing dodgy/bogus tickets, the system will always have a question mark upon it.
  11. The problem is that of precedent. You may be fine with Neros flouting the law this time around, but when a different establishment - one you don't find acceptable - do the same in a few years and cite Neros as precedent you may be sorry you took this line. The council is quite right to uphold planning law. More power to their elbow.
  12. Le Chardon can just let the weeds grow...
  13. And if the Livesey was turned into a Cafe Neros and lots of people 'voted with their feet and wallets', would this justify the sale, then?
  14. ...and then they discover that the CPZ reduces the number of total car spaces and they are now paying 92 quid a year to *still* not be able to park their car. By the time they realise this, it's too late. Has a CPZ ever been removed?
  15. > careful driving 12 years of accident free driving > drive less I generally drive once a week. Maybe twice. And you know what? That blind corner is still dangerous...
  16. A big (td) from me.
  17. Sainsburys have been taking the urine sample quite a bit of late. Anyone else noticed they have kindly set up their employees smoking area outside their own grounds on the corner of the football club? The place is a constant mess. As far the blind corner parking is concerned, this used to only really be a problem on match days. Since the changes, it's everyday with Sainsburys employees being pushed out the car park. Of course, it was originally made worse by the Southwark Parking Clowns who stopped everyone parking with two wheels on the pavement, citing 'safety', ironically. Yellow lines will probably only push the problem around. Short of a gated estate (puts on flame proof jacket), I'm not sure of a good solution here.
  18. Dulwich entrants might be a little weak, but I'd hope they'd easily see off 'John Thomas Trunley - The fat boy of Peckham" :))
  19. I think that in a lot of cases, no deadlock = no insurance. It's definitely in my policy. I think it applies even if you are in the house, asleep upstairs.
  20. Or go online and set it to record from the Sky website. Very handy - I set my Sky+ to record a couple of programme when I was in Australia!
  21. I thought the same yesterday when I went through Denmark Hill station and the train operating company's 'revenue protection' squad were out in force accompanied by three BTP officers. Why are the police not tackling crime in general, rather than allocating time exclusively to ensure that a private company gets it's dosh?
  22. Given recent threads: lawyers and/or estate agents?
  23. Peckham Rye, unlike ED, at least has a building. Peckham Rye differs from Nunhead in that getting from the PR station to the cemetery is usually too easy and quite involuntary. ::o
  24. How the hell did East Dulwich miss out on this 'honour'?? All we have is two bike sheds...
  25. As a buyer... Winkworth. Very good and friendly, but rely on part-timers on Saturdays. Apart from that (which is better than not having enough staff) they have impressed the most. Burnett, Ware and Graves. Really quite good. Have stayed in touch and got properties out to me. Wates. Better than average. Good at emailing properties. KFH. Pretty good. DVR. Have tried to get to know us, but don't really have enough properties at our range at the moment. Acorn. OK, though a bit distant. Roy Brooks. Average. Very friendly. Bushells. Little contact after registration. Ludlow. Not very proactive. Rely on their (rather good, admittedly) email and sms updates. Foxtons. Haven't heard a peep since registering. I'm dependent on alerts from Rightmove, Findaproperty and Fish4. If you wait on estate agent you will miss out. As a seller, I can't say that I am too impressed with Foxtons so far. I suspect my experiences as a buyer might explain to some extent why...
