  1. Well, their name is 'carlito'....
  2. ASDA are surprisingly good.
  3. Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Why should a company pay for the laziness of individuals? > They've paid someone to do a job who hasn't done it. I have some sympathy for fast food places who get blamed for litter in their area caused by customers, but if it has been caused by someone they have paid to do a job, then they are indeed responsible. But, you would have to prove it was indeed an employee/contractor. If it was the householder that dropped it then it would not be their fault.
  4. The Evening Standard had a review today for a new restaurant called 'Flavour Bastard'. The review completely ripped the whole place to shreds. Rather amusing, it was.
  5. IlonaM Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Her social background (whatever it might be) isn't > the issue. Her behaviour is. Since part of the 'charge' against her is that she's a posh rich girl, it is a bit relevant.
  6. Robert Poste's Child Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Woman on first date gets stuck in window > retrieving her own poo. It was a Tinder date so, in retrospect, he should have swiped left and she should have wiped and left.
  7. Dawn Foster writes for the Guardian - which pretty much invented "privileged people embracing working class cultural signifiers while struggling to conceal your visceral hatred of actual working class people."

    Sloes

    Works with sloes, though Sue.

    Sloes

No, but if you can't find any, then you can buy them on eBay. I do it, and you get quite good ones.
  11. I wouldn't get up at stupid o'clock in the morning and cook breakfast for people everyday for ?100 a night.
  12. DulwichFox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Nowhere did I suggest Horses think. Are you suggesting they don't?

  14. Willard Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > How can a bike shed be classed as a permanent > structure? The rules don't use the word 'permanent' - they say any 'building or enclosure'.
  15. Good luck! I have a vague plan to retire to Shropshire one day, so I am rather jealous!
  16. DulwichFox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think we should consider ourselves lucky that > the EU hasn't banned milk being sold in Pints. They have. They do now make you buy 568ml instead. And I bet you that stays after Brexit, because it was actually the UK government that did that. Maybe we should exit the UK, to get away from all the needless bureaucracy. At least Australia rounded it up to a more sensible 600ml when they changed to metric.
  17. Spammers 'spoof' the from address (and/or the reply-to address) and quite often use your own address just to get around spam filters. But filtering on the from address is pretty useless anyway, as they use all sorts of addresses. I often get spam from friends addresses, often because they have been hacked. If you are on Hotmail or Gmail or whatever, you are better off looking into turning on the inbuilt spam filter. These look at the message itself and the email metadata and try to make a better educated guess.

A letter to a newspaper today... "I find it refreshing that Theresa May has vowed to fight the next general election ? perhaps it shows that she?s learnt her lesson after not bothering to fight the last one."
  19. ianr Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > He exposes how the terrorist group relies on encrypted messages and the dark web... That's not 'Terror by Text'. That's via 'Terror via WhatsApp and Tor'.
  20. You can use Skype to ring mobiles/landlines. But, as I said, there is a charge. You can either buy a monthly plan or buy credit and use it as you like. https://secure.skype.com/en/calling-rates?expo365=empty
  21. I use Skype. Very reasonable rates and you can buy calling plans if you phone a lot.
  22. Well, if you want an amazingly insightful answer to the question of the best time to change pounds to Euros, the answer would be "about 16 months ago".
  23. The classic song-written-while-on-something-illegal, MacArthur Park. MacArthur Park is melting in the dark All the sweet, green icing flowing down Someone left the cake out in the rain I don't think that I can take it 'Cause it took so long to bake it And I'll never have that recipe again
  24. I hadn't heard of Monza. Looks good, though it seems that 'no fees' is just an initial offer - MSE does warn that overseas fees 'are coming'. Might grab one for an upcoming trip to Oz, though!
  25. Open a Metrobank current account and stick your holiday money in it. You can then access your dosh with the associated debit card from any European ATM and you get the Mastercard rate, which is, by far, the best exchange rate you'll get. You can also access your money from non-European countries, but you'll pay a fee, though it is still one of the best around.
