And now Phillip Hammond (who is usually a relatively sane voice in the government) is saying he's putting aside money for a 'no deal'. Erm - money is useful, but we are going to need a shed load of infrastructure in place ON Brexit day. Otherwise we will have no ability to process customs and immigration at our borders. This will take at least a year (and that's being generous) to put into place. And that's just the start of it. Otherwise, the much-feared cliff edge becomes much steeper and much more deeper.

I think all mistakes can be neatly summed up as "lack of any sort of a coherent plan". The whole thing is a complete shambles. The negotiators have gone in with the same foolish thinking that was voiced by some around this forum, saying, "ahh the EU will coming begging to us once they realise that the German car industry/French wine industry/etc will lose out". Now, one third of the way in and we still have no plan, no strategy and, worst of all, no idea. Business is now getting jittery. It's not looking good.

You can tell that's a very old Guardian ad. They've narrowed their view of the world a lot since then.

A more cynical person may suspect it is a bit of an "oh, look - a squirrel" piece of news.

I think I can guess. I suspect because it is rather difficult to deport a British citizen. Whether or not they know that most of the terrorists who have attacked people in the name of ISIS in the UK have been British citizens is probably another matter altogether. But, as I've tried to say, innocent until proven guilty has to apply to the FLA as well.

I expect in this case, there will be some sane, centrist voices that will get to the bottom of this. Like others here, I have my doubts about this group, but I am willing to wait to see what comes up. The fact that the convener has a hooliganism conviction is not a good start, but neither is it the smoking gun (for the want of a better phrase).

One or two messages about your new business might have slipped through, shafiq, but spamming the board with 14 messages sin't going to end well.

I have as much distaste of groups of football fans as anyone, but I still cannot see any definitely links as yet with the far right. Yes, there were come EDLers at the march, but that doesn't (necessarily) mean the group itself is aligned. We know that there are anti-Semitic types 'linked' with Labour, but we shouldn't write off the whole Labour party because it. I'm not giving the FLA a clean bill of health at all, but I'd rather have some evidence before I write something off.

When do you switch on your central heating on again for the Winter

Mine's been on for a few weeks now. We have a a Hive system, so the thermostat is pretty good. And though Hive is/was really good, it is such a shame the have 'upgraded' the web system that controls it such that is it virtually unusable now. What used to take a few seconds to change now takes ages whilst controls expand on contract on the screen. Apparently they've received loads of complaints about it. -

First I've heard of them. But surely recruiting lots of 'moderates' is counter-productive to an extreme movement?

"Only a fraction of the UK economy is dependent upon EU membership. The majority is either domestic or non-EU export" Yep, it is indeed a fraction. As far as the 'exports' part goes, the fraction is about one-half.

I think the OP is getting confused at the difference between spousal maintenance (aka alimony) and child support.

Maybe the EU made very, very special legislation just for the LL post office.

Sounds like one of the many EU myths.

If he hadn't had kids, then probably. But if you have kids, you should be paying for their upbringing. She could marry a multi-billionaire and that still wouldn't (or shouldn't) change.

I realise that politicians are not popular right now, but Birmingham, rendell?? That's a little cruel.

Spain seems to be going the wrong way around any resolution with Catalonia. Apparently they're considering sedition charges against the Catalan head of police. That really won't help. Spain seems to think they can bludgeon the nationalists down, and that rarely works. Mind you. Catalonia would be mad to leave the EU, which they will if they secede. The Barcelonian banks are already making plans to move. I think more autonomy would relieve the pressure, but both sides seem to be playing brinkmanship games at the moment. What has slipped below the radar is the referenda in the northern Italian regions of Lombardy and Veneto this month regarding greater autonomy for those regions. It is all looking rather unsettled.

Of course, but that hour isn't paid. If you work 9-5 you get paid for 7 hours a day (35 hours/week), not 8.

I really hope May doesn't resign and/or is deposed. Not because I think she's competent - rather that I really think whoever takes her place would be a lot worse and a lot more dangerous. No leaders in the Tories; none in Labour, either. This country is really in the manure.

It was more that their current pay rate is ?9.05, but as they get a paid 30 min break (which I assume other cinemas don't pay??), which, they argue, makes their effective pay ?9.65 an hour which is 10p below LLW. They also get commission on selling memberships.
