I've posted a thread to see if any Oct/Nov firt-time mummies want to meet for a coffee x -
I know at least two other ladies on here are due with their first baby in October or November. I'm due with mine on 1st Nov and would love to meet up with other first-timers in the area for a coffee. Anyone up for it? I'll throw a date out there... morning of Saturday 4th Sept at Luca's on Lordship Lane??? Kerry & Thumper

Great thread!! I'm due with my first on 1st Nov and finding this all very encouraging! Hoping to tour the ward there in next couple of weeks. Thanks Fidgetsmum for starting it! kerry -
Hi there Just finished the book and am very interested in learning more before birth (Edd 1st Nov). I don't believe there are any local classes near Dulwich, but does anyone know any local midwives experienced/trained in it? ta kerry

Got most of my maternity gear online at ASOS - free returns a godsend. Just order loads and send it back if not right. I'm 27 weeks and living in their gorgeous linen trousers and Gap wrap short sleeve tops, but my guilty pleasure is changing into ASOS leggings and dress or big t-shirt as soon as I get home from work! They have an ace sale section too.

Autumn babies club: park meet up
kerry.finlay replied to supergolden88's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I'm due 1st November and have just moved to a temp flat while we have building work done and can pretty much see the caf from the flat :-) Would love to meet some fellow expectant mummies. Sat or Sunday mornings are best for me, before lunch ideally. Hope I get to meet you. Kerry x -

1st november - our first :-) -
Hi Just found this thread thanks to sanity_girl. Due with my first on the 1st of November. Would love to meet some mummies-to-be due similar times, especially any for whom it's their first too. I believe there are coffees tomorrow (11 july, 10.30) which I will definitely try to come along to, although busily packing as we're moving out next weekend while we have building work done. Don't laugh ;-) Hope to meet you soon! Kerry

NCT v NHS antenatal classes
kerry.finlay replied to kerry.finlay's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks ladies. Some great advice! I wrote back to Alison/NCT re the price and she said... "The price includes a membership fee of ?39 which is not obligatory at all. If you deduct that the price is ?285.80 for a 21 hour course for 2 people. If you have been onto the East Dulwich forum I think you will find that those who have attended a long course such as this in London will all have paid similar prices. The courses are of course cheaper out of London." Why do we get screwed cos we live in London?! Maybe their intensive courses are cheaper. KateW - were you on an intensive course? Spoke to some friends last night and one had a great idea - hire a private midwife for a day or half day before and after the baby is born to come and talk you through the main issues, answer questions and give advice. Then use EDF and local baby classes post-baby to meet mums. Think that might be a very good idea! -
NCT v NHS antenatal classes
kerry.finlay replied to kerry.finlay's topic in The Family Room Discussion
thanks Ko. Do you have any contact details for tessa in east dulwich?? thanks! -
I reserved a place on an NCT class programme in September in east dulwich, and have been sent the booking form and need to pay up. However I nearly had a heart attack when I read the letter as it is ?325 total for the 2 of us (I heard it was ?160 which I could justify but didn't realise that was EACH!). I know it's a charity etc etc, but seriously... we have 3 months of building work coming up before LO arrives and I'm trying to save for a year off - I can think of better things to do with that money! Are they really worth it? Are the NHS ones ok? Heard they're at Dulwich hospital? I know NCT is more personal (only 3 couples in this one and it's at someone's house). But not sure I can justify it. Have friends who've done both and have total mixed bag of opinions. Any experience?? thanks kerry

FYI the Sainsbury's website has a forum that their Customer Care team regularly reviews for any discontent among customers which they will reply to/deal with. If you want HQ to know i suggest you post there too? http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/YourIdeas/forums/forums_groups.aspx?groupid=506

Court Lane Taped off police incident
kerry.finlay replied to chichirara's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
A cyclist was involved in an accident outside the pub - ambulances there etc, then around the corner up court lane more tape and more ambulances and the police said 'RTA'. I jumped to conclusions and assumed it was too much of a coincidence in a usually sleepy village and that perhaps a vehicle involed in the cyclist had done a runner and tried to escape up court lane but crashed. but that's total guess work!
