  1. So it sounds like im the only person in Dulwich who wants M&S....Im sorry for being such a heathen :-D
  2. Ive completely lost the plot with this thread are we getting M&S or not...? I personally cant wait.. I have to drive to Beckenham at the moment ...and oh yes I also support the independents in LL but sometimes I want convenience. ...so ...when are we getting M&S or even better still Waitrose ?
  3. I agree, I think that the cleaners do a great job. You also have to take into account that the team has been cut substantially and they are coping with much lower numbers of staff. The fact that they are keeping up the appearance of the area so well is credit to the hard work of the people involved. I did complain to Southwark earlier in the year about my street being rather grubby and it was promptly attended to and I had a very nice conversation with a very apologetic supervisor who explained how much smaller the team now was due to budget cuts. Its nice I think to appreciate what they are doing in difficult circumstances.
  4. Just used the new pool for the first time...I think Southwark /fusion have done a great job and Im going to really enjoy going regulary. I particularly liked the new changing rooms and showers. Really good local amenity now
  5. Just seen Shirley from East enders in Sainsburies local at the Plough
  6. Thanks again to all for your suggestions I think a trip to the Southwark local history library is on the cards !
  7. Many thanks for the thoughts ...no real leads yet but working on it !!
  8. Hi there I don't know if any local historians can help me...I have recently come into the possession of a walking stick which was my Great Grand fathers. His name was George Young and he lived at 25, Marmora Road from the early 1900's to the Early 1920's. On the walking stick is engraved "Presented by the Marmora club 25th April 1914" I was wondering if anyone may know what the Marmora club was, as I am intrigued as to where the walking stick came from. Thanks to anyone in advance to anyone who can help me
  9. To bring the topic back to the V1 & V2 bombs if I may. I am really delighted to see that the web site which I created www.flyingbombsandrockets.com is being used as a source of reference and has been quoted in posts on this site. As you may imagine putting together all the data and then setting it up on the web site was as massive job and my objective was always to provide a source of reference for Dulwich and other areas of south London covered. I had to remove my mail adress from the site last year due to the volume of requests for information I was receiving but if anyone has any questions regarding V1 & V2 bombs in Dulwich I would be happy to help , via this forum. I am also particulary interested in the V1 that fell on St Thomas More Church In Lordship lane 13th July 1944 as this missile damaged my house in Court lane and I would be very interested to know if anyone knows of any images or has any recollections of this particular incident
