  1. I live opposite the Harvester and it is an eyesore. Every day I walk around the park and I?ve been monitoring the skaters. To begin with I was angry at the damage they did but as the months have gone by I?ve seen how they are caring for the space. Tidying up and clearly have a set of rules regarding what happens there. Yesterday 2 parents were there with their young daughter who had a skateboard for Christmas. They were watching her closely whilst others were teaching her tricks etc. I have no issues with the skaters. They are making excellent use of a derelict space, and making it work for them. As long as they keep it clean and tidy I don't see the issue. People would be moaning if they were skating or hanging around the street. This way they have somewhere safe to go and they clearly look out for each other. If the council or estate want to remove them they should do something constructive with the land instead of letting it rot away.
  2. Hi Saw the squatters today in Curry Cabin. There were 2 guys there lunch time, looks like they were securing the building and adding some sort of notice. Upstairs there was a girl, in her 20s, wearing a yellow tracksuit top jumping in and out of the window onto the roof. She was shouting obscenities to the guys and it looked like she was spitting on them as well. Disgusting behaviour and the landlord is going to struggle to get his building back now.
  3. The NSPCC do not cold call via house visits. My husband works for them and confirmed this is a scam. Also the collection staff would not have access to information regarding increase of child abuse in a particular area. Please report these people to the police. Do not give them your details. Either that or send them to my house!!!
  4. He hasn?t been around for a few days. My neighbor said she witnessed him slashing out at a child at the bus stop and the father hit him and the police came but do not know if this is true. I hope in the recent bad weather he decided to take the help of one of the charities and is in a shelter somewhere. I don?t think he?s a bad man, I just think life has dealt him a bad hand of cards and he hasn?t been able to recover.
  5. I have called the council, I called the police, I called the Salvation Army, I called the church and the local out reach programme. I even emailed our local MP 5 timed about helping this poor man and I was ignored. I gave him leaflets for drop in centres and told him that a local shelter had beds. Not sure what else?s I could do.
  6. I am witnessing it. I see it every day and no chemical toilet isnt the answer. In the last 24 hours this gentleman and a gang of his friends have been outside the pub drinking and swearing at passers by. They have scared children and I have just witnessed someone urinating up against the wall. Why should we have to see this and put up with this? I?m very sorry the gentleman had fallen on hard times, is disabled and isn?t getting help from the government or charities but when it isn?t safe to leave your own home, because of fear of abuse or fear of rats & mice or of fear of disease from people using the path as a toilet all my charity disappears. I spoke to the Salvation Army today and they have said he has abused 3 of their staff and police have told them not to approach him because when he drinks he can be violent. People are trying to help him get a better life but he?s refusing help. You can?t help those who won?t be helped.
  7. I live directly opposite the pub and I?ve watched the disabled chap move in, the people build the shelter, and the good hearted souls deliver him food and blankets and it?s heart breaking. However I have also watched the mice scurrying around the area eating the left over food he left behind, Ive watched him empty bags & bottles of urine into the road and I?ve witness the bags of human waste he left for people to clean up. I?ve already witness 2 fires in that building when in was occupied so to see another was terrifying. Last night he was at the bus stop in his wheel chair , steaming drunk from 4pm until 7pm shouting abuse at people. He lashed out at a child and almost caused a fight. I live with this because it happens underneath my window. The first thing I see in the morning is the area he left behind. I had to walk past him every day to catch a bus to work and even though he was never rude to me I had to walk past the smell of human waste and unwashed bodies. I had to watch where I walk and avoid the mice and now listen to him rant and rave. I am not saying don?t help people, but this is a man who clearly does not want help. Yes he?s an alcoholic and that?s not something you can recover from over night, but help has been offered and he?s turned down. Please stop enabling this man. It?s not happening on your doorstep so you do not have to put up with it 24 hours a day and deal with the mess that?s left behind. If you want to help him report it to social services, contact and out reach charity, call the vicar/priest.
  8. Could we please have an employment section on this forum? It would be really handy if we had a place we could go straight to? Thanks
  9. Does anyone know how you apply for a job at this Sainsburys? I have called the recruitment hotline and they do not know anything about a new store opening and deny all knowledge - even when I told them about the signs and contractors etc...... They said if they dont know about it, it means they dont need staff - so I can only assume it will be a staff free store! If anyone knows how you actually apply for a position I would really love to know.
