Hi susudio, using my husband login but he won't mind. I had a CVS in October 2008 as I was told I had 1 in 2 chance to have a down's baby. The procedure is more scary than painful. It is uncomfortable and please don't look... Unfortunately, they told me it was finished and found myself staring at the needle... The staff at Kings could not have been more helpful and lovely and profesional. They really looked after us . It was the best decision for us as we wanted to know. The results were negative and I now have a healthy 8 months baby. I had loads of routine scans afterwards but i would recommend it so that you know. Good luck.

ED Labour action team leaflet
Don Quixote replied to limeburner's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Somebody told me the Tories are actually in power in this area - is this true? Like Barry Rhode I have never heard from them - quite a few leaflets from Lib Dems, some stuff from Labour. Actual people? No. Would vote for Green or a properly local independent - does such a candidate exist in ED/Peckham Rye? -
Does Ewan McGregor live in ED?

Not a joke - just shallow, tabloid reader interest! -

Does anyone know if Ewan McGregor lives in East Dulwich or our environs? I ask because I have seen someone who looks suspiciously like him drinking in The Clock House and the Herne Tavern. If it's not Mr McGregor then this bloke looks like some other celeb (I said Patrick Swayzee to my wife, until she pointed he had gone to the big silver screen in the sky!)

We are one of the families caught up in the primary school places row. I can see no evidence of the Peckham Rye councillors campaigning for us - they have not got involved in this forum nor have they contributed to the Facebook page even though one of them is a member. I am not party political - but I am interested in local democracy working for us. I see Councillor Barber's thread is very popular but have no idea who the other two councillors for ED are and what they do earn our votes. I just wonder what the point of the council is if our councillors are invisible from one election to another - ie every four years!

Have you seen the latest Lib Dem political leaflet - they boast that that the school is "over subscribed". What a comfort! -
As I said in my original response, I was looking for food for thought about what I thought about dogs off leads in Peckham Rye. So, here is where I am after all the great posts: 1) Peckham Rye is a shared resource - which we are all entitled to enjoy 2) To enjoy it we all need to understand where our rights begin and end 3) Dog owners totally have the right to walk their dogs on the Rye 4) If someone has a problem with dogs it is not up to dog owners to judge that person - it is totally within the rights of someone to expect to be able to walk around Peckham Rye without being approached by an unknown dog 5) If someone has a a dog under control it is totally their right to exercise their dog without being abused by people who may not like dogs

I know I am entering a minefield here - but I genuinely don't know what I think so I thought the forum would give me some food for thought. Whilst walking on Peckham Rye recently a number of dogs not on leads have come up to me whilst I have been jogging. I don;t mind dogs, but I would say I am wary of them and when a big dog runs up to me I guess I feel uncomfortable. Equally leadless dogs have approached my son and me whilst we walk in the Rye - my son is extremely scared of dogs and this causes him great concern. Often the owners apologise that the dog has come too close, call it to heel and no issue. However, I have been told on several occasions: "He's fine", or "she won;t bite" or even "stay still if you react he will think you are playing." In other words I seem to be somehow in the wrong for reacting in a way which is not totally pro-canine. Although I am polite, to avoid a scene, my thought is "How do I know it won;t bite - and there's a first time for everything!!" I totally respect the need for dog owners to be able to exercise their dogs - but I feel my right to walk through the Rye with my family and not have to interact with other people's pets is also worthy of respect. What do people think?
