Help Neighbours building something
giggirl replied to Domme_Jay's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Here you are http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/485/planning_applications/554/search_for_planning_applications/1 I'm surprised you weren't consulted as Southwark consulted my neighbours when I applied for planning permission. Was it a party wall agreement they were asking you for? -
Actually srisky I think you may have hit the nail on the head with Kimberley. She's refreshingly honest about when she's done well or done her best and we aren't used to that. We're used to false modesty. I don't think Kimberley is a know-it-all, I just think she's honest. I really love Frances' imagination. At the end of the day you could learn to be a great baker if you worked at it hard enough, but you could never learn what Frances has; she's gifted. I think Ruby is natural and not playing to the cameras. It's just that her extreme self-depreciation began to grate on me after the first few weeks. Definitely up for grabs this evening - could be any of them.

Thanks for flagging that up Jah

I think that's why most people watch it and enjoy it BB; ordinary people with a skill. Very gentle viewing and nothing remotely celebrity-hungry about the contestants.

Hello everyone, The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden holds family days on the last Sunday of every month. These are geared to 6 and above and there are lots of activities, including tours of the venue geared towards children. The tours need to be pre-booked. Information here http://www.roh.org.uk/functions/family-sundays Although there are limited tickets to buy on the day, the family day tickets sell out weeks in advance. Booking for Sunday 26 January and Sunday 23 February opens TODAY at 10am. This is a special treat if your little one goes to ballet lessons.

I'm not allergic to any of them. I'll be happy whoever wins. It's been a terrific ride.

Oh the excitement! I'm on team Kimberley. She's the best baker. Oh and she lives in South London and has the most glorious smile which lights up her face. Frances is awesome - she is more creative than the rest of them put together but she isn't the best baker. Ruby is talented and beautiful and I was on team Ruby for a while but the modesty is annoying (even though I think she's a genuine person). Basically, could be any of them; they're all brilliant and they've worked hard to get to the final.

Adults love it and kids love it and even a goth teenager took an afternoon off from "being cool" and enjoyed it. At the end of the show you see grandparents and toddlers all playing in the snow. Everyone comes out smiling. They don't chase you out immediately afterwards as they know that people like to hang around and play for a bit. See here DON'T BUY SEATS IN THE BALCONY.

Hello WoD. I took 5 kids to this last year, ranging from 7 up to 14. They all had a brilliant time. It is really exciting stuff. I booked it months in advance and we sat on the front row, which was very nice because the kids got a lot of attention. The kids were even more excited because Helena Bonham Carter was sitting just behind us with her little ones. That's a big deal if you're a kid and a Harry Potter fan. The performers stay on after the show has finished to play with the kids. There is lots of snow and big balls and it is quite magical. Whatever you do don't buy the cheap seats in the balcony though - you don't get to play, you just get to watch everyone else playing.

Carry on as usual but more vigilant than usual. Don't walk around with anything obviously expensive (i phone) on display. If you see anyone that you're not comfortable with, cross the road. In other words, take all the precautions that you should be taking anyway, and carry on as usual. There's no more crime in ED than there is anywhere else, it's just that we have a brilliant mechanism (the EDF) for reporting it. I don't mean any disrespect to anyone who has recently been a victim of crime; just saying that ED is no different from anywhere else.

VILLAGE TANDOORI IN EAST DULWICH GROVE

Katie - try taking your cap lock off before posting. I'm also suspicious of your post as you know the exact opening date of the restaurant. I'm a fan of many establishments but I couldn't tell you the exact date they started trading. -

Nothing wrong with Beckenham - it's not a bad place to raise kids. -

It is absolutely Mental and truly depressing for anyone trying to get a foot on the ladder. Before moving to ED I lived in a 5 bedroom family house next to Hampstead Heath. Obviously absolutely no chance of buying there so I had to move far away. My only two options, i.e. places still affordable, were Stoke Newington and East Dulwich. My then boyfriend had just bought in Herne Hill, so I chose ED. Then we split up and I was left south of the river without a single friend and a mortgage in double figures that I could barely afford. I didn't have any furniture for the first year (not even a bed), didn't go on holiday for about 4 years, NEVER went out, and basically lived hand to mouth and only just managed to feed myself and get by. Those were the days when lots of people went into negative equity and were unable to keep up repayments. The personal sacrifices that I had to make to stay afloat are really depressing when I look back. I really do get that the market today is a different market and that it is bonkers and it is almost impossible to get started, but what I'm trying to say is that it has NEVER been easy. -

Oh bless, I just Zooplad my SE22 postcode and my house is worth less than ?500,000, as are all my neighbours' houses. The last time a house changed hands in my neck of the woods was in 1997 So Zoopla has no intelligence for my postcode. My immediate neighbour bought in 1960 for less than ?2k. Zoopla only tracks properties that change hands, so it isn't 100% reliable. So you could get a bargain in my street (not really though). -
More likely that you've annoyed someone by letting it grow out onto the pavement than someone has vandalised you. Not saying it's right to do that, but if it is the case that it it has been left to grow, causing the pavement outside your house to be significantly narrowed, then that would be annoying to anyone who needs to use the pavement.

Where do you play Bob? I might drop by for some spectator action.

Why didn't you just have a word with the guy and ask him to clear up the mess?

This made me laugh. Banksy selling originals on a stall in NY. Very few people bought anything but I wonder if those who did buy know what bargains they snapped up. http://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2013/oct/14/banksy-sells-original-paintings-new-york-booth

Irish jokes used to be the norm but you don't hear them any more. Used to be acceptable to call Irish people thick. I guess it was the same for Poles in the US. We've moved on thankfully. On another note, my builders were 90% Polish and they were brilliant. Faultless workers. I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Don't forget to report the phone stolen asap so that you won't be responsible for the calls made on it. Driving licence is a pain in the rear to replace. Can you tell us which street(s) the bag was found in? I'm curious what route they took. Thanks in advance. Again, I hope your wife is OK.

This is nasty. Many of us get a taxi home late at night as the safe option. To be mugged as you're walking from your taxi to your house is luckless. Sorry this happened to her and I hope she gets over it quickly. Fuckers.
