  1. I didn't know where else to put this post so please forgive. Personally I think Russell Brand is highly entertaining and although Jonathan Ross is not a favourite I reckon this could be a seriously fun evening: a night at the Hackney Empire with Brand & Ross. http://www.hackneyempire.co.uk/27/whats-on/now-showing.html It went on sale 10 minutes ago and seats are flying. I've got mine and I'm looking forward to it. Plus the Hackney Empire is a fabulous venue. Let's get out more ED! Pxxx

Brandon Flowers playing Brixton next month. Presale now, here: http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_london&query=detail&event=408204&interface=o2priority Kings of Leon return to O2 (yes, dreadful I know) in December for their new album. Presale probably tomorrow morning at 9am. Px
  3. ClareC - I'm getting a Smeg. Where did you buy yours? I would like mine delivered to my kitchen, if that's not too much to ask (or even if it is).

Has anyone heard of Rumer? She's a local girl (Herne Hill) and she's doing a benefit at the Half Moon for the British Red Cross to aid flood victims in Pakistan. The gig is next Friday (10th September). Tickets are only ?12.50 and that includes food. What more can you ask for ?12.50? http://links.mkt1397.com/servlet/MailView?ms=MzU3MjUwMzcS1&r=NTczMDg0OTQ5MAS2&j=ODAzMTQ5MDUS1&mt=1&rt=0 If you're planning to go then please PM me so I can say hi. Px This is sold out. Good for her.

James, I first moved here over 20 years ago to a garden flat in Melbourne Grove and I was broke and living from pay day to pay day. Looking back now I was well and truly on the breadline. I wouldn't buy anything on credit so had to save up to buy anything. I actually had no furniture in my flat at all but I felt so good about being on the property ladder. I bought a cheap vacuum cleaner (that I had to save for) and somebody broke in and stole it and a stereo (that didn't work). I was completely devastated. It was only a cheap vacuum cleaner but I had saved hard for it and couldn't afford to replace it and somebody had violated my home and I had to pay someone to fix the window. It really really sucks. We've all been there (unfortunately). So please come tomorrow night to the drinks at EDT and be bought a drink or two as a proper welcome to ED. Pxx

    Great Gigs

Here's a pre-sale for a nice set of gigs next month (mostly at the Forum in NORTH London, unfortunately). I can highly recommend Paolo Nutini - great voice. Presale starts 9am tomorrow and I wouldn't hang about. http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/promo/eqb0x6?camefrom=CFC_UK_QPRESALE_VARIOUS_0109 If anyone is interested in seeing Brandon Flowers (not my cup of tea) then his gig at the Forum is on sale on Friday morning. The presale has sold out. Come on ED, let's switch off those TVs and get out more. Pxxx
  9. I'm coming. There will be no clevage on show and I've bought a minimiser especially.
  10. Well done Drxyster. Like you, I'll take my business elsewhere. I'm glad that the OP posted this as I wasn't aware it was an issue and I'm doing a lot of buying at the moment. Leaving stuff on the kerb is thumbing its nose at customer service. If it costs more money to deliver heavy goods inside of the home then I'm happy to pay, or at least to be offered the choice to pay. If the only service on offer is kerbside delivery then I'll go elsewhere.
  11. Dear God Jrussell stop patting yourself on the back - that's just embarrassing. I don't know whether you're a troll or not, as, to be perfectly honest none of your threads have drawn me in, so I haven't engaged with you. Your style does not appeal to me. But congratulating yourself of this ridiculous thread is cringe-worthy.
  12. John Lewis is always my first point of call for anything my house needs. It's not just price - it's service and choice and basically it's an all round pleasant experience.
  13. I just had a phonecall from the Conran Shop (delivered to me last Tuesday morning). It was the shop - not a call centre. They wanted to check that everything was OK, that I was happy with the delivery service and that I was happy with my purchases (one of them was made to order). OK so Conran is towards the upper end of the scale but it's still excellent customer service. The other shop I bought from (Dwell) bent over backwards to find a delivery spot on a Saturday and I couldn't fault them. Now I'm in the market for a new kitchen and a new bathroom (and tiles etc for both). Does anyone have any recommendations? I want a good product (obviously) actually delivered to my house (because I don't think that's too much to frigging ask!). Px

So sorry James. That sucks. Basically, what Sean and Candj said. Beef up security and get your stuff marked. Come to the CPT drinks on Friday - you defintely need something to make you feel better!
  15. How old? Surely not. Happy birthday Brum. Pxxx
  16. This is very worrying since I'm just beginning a major refurb of my house. I hadn't even seen delivery as being an issue but since it is I'll be sure to only buy from companies that deliver into the house. I've recently had two heavy deliveries and on both occasions two delivery men turned up and went out of their way to do a great job. I bought a very heavy glass desk from Dwell (I can't lift it) and even with two delivery men it was hard work. I also bought some furniture from the Conran shop and that was brought inside with no fuss. Thankfully I'm a big John Lewis fan and I can't see John Lewis dumping things on the kerb any time soon. I don't think kerbside delivery is acceptable. How are people going to manage who are less able-bodied? If delivery of heavy items costs more then, fine, charge more. Now I think about it I may have paid an extra delivery cost to Dwell for the desk. I'm OK with that. If the only option was kerbside delivery I would walk away and I would make sure the manager of that store knew why the sale had been lost.
  17. Just say no then PN. Let them know that they lost a sale because you couldn't make their terms and conditions work for you. Of course their delivery people can enter your house - they've been entering people's houses for decades.

    Great Gigs

I'm flagging up this Grinderman gig at the Coronet because it's just up the road, a bus ride away (apart from it being a good band that is). On sale today, here: http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_london&query=detail&event=406776&referral_id=tw_uk_buyat
  19. Brendan you are fabulous! V Sorry OP but it will be years before your brain unscrambles the drink/smoke combo thing. It gets a lot easier though. Well done.
  20. Ryanair are the pits and would charge for the air you breathe if they could get away with it. Horrible airline - best avoided. Personally I'm stil reeling from the ?3.75 for the small bottle of water in the minibar of my room at the Brighton Metrople this weekend. FFS - it's just water.
  21. It has no soul. You could be anywhere. Didn't like.
  22. Oh - another thing WoD - the helicopter rides are expensive but really worth it and I have my helicopter ride somewhere on CD. If you want to borrow the CD and check it out for yourself you can determine for yourself whether it's worth the $$$$. Definitely don't do the coach tours - I've only ever heard bad things. People who don't want to spend the $$$ on the flights do the coach tours and spend all day on the road getting there and back and end up disappointed.
  23. I have been to Vegas for Christmas/New Years and there is plenty to do. You don't have to be over 21 to go into a casino in Vegas but you do need to be 21 to gamble. Nobody will stop him going in, seeing the shows, eating in the restaurants, checking out the action etc. But he can't sit down at the tables. People watching is excellent though so he will enjoy. I have stayed at the Wynn (which I didn't like very much) and have stayed at the Landmark MGM (which is fabulous). The Landmark MGM is located at the back of the MGM Grand. Not much at the Landmark for kids though so I would give the Belagio a try (always wanted to stay there). Definitely take a helicopter ride over the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon (do not take a bus tour - it's too far to go). That's something you'll both remember for the rest of your lives. Don't take the early trip - take the slightly later one as the helicopter will take you back to McLaren via the Strip which will be all lit up at night. Go to one of the Cirque du Soleil shows - my favourite is O (at the Belagio) but Ka (at the MGM) is also good. Take the tour of the Neon Graveyard. This place is run by volunteers and you need to contact them to book in as the tours are very small and don't run often. It's really good. Vegas is a town with no history because when the hotels start to look old they tear them down and start again. The Neon Graveyard is the only place in Vegas with anything old in it - you get to see all the original old Vegas signs. Plus, they found a dead body there once in CSI. I can't recommend it highly enough.
  24. Shark infested waters of East Dulwich! Don't make me laugh; I'll have the jaws theme circling round my head as I'm tripping out of G&B later tonight. Incidentally, Elvis used to eat a lot of squirrel when he was a boy. That's my erudite contribution. I wouldn't touch them though; they look shifty.
  25. What have you been smokin' Hooch?
