    Great Gigs

giggirl Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Also on a smaller scale, Suede doing a tiny @ Bush > Hall > ....................... AHHHHHH the stupid fekking link I posted to this gig earlier doesn't work - goes directly to the main site which doesn't have the Suede gig listed. Sorry - think it's sold out now but please keep trying on the following link (which I hope works) if you want to go. Sometimes I think they fix links so that you can't pass them on. This one goes directly to the buying page. If it shows as sold out try again later - people's credit cards get declined so they put the tickets back on sale. http://www.gigsandtours.com/gat/price.asp?code=507957&userid={6D400466-7ABA-48FE-A0DA-F6BE6142B24E}&filler1=gigsandtours&filler2=507957 It's for Suede playing at Bush Hall which will be a nice intimate gig and a small venue for them. Sorry about the dud link earlier.

    Great Gigs

Also on a smaller scale, Suede doing a tiny @ Bush Hall http://www.gigsandtours.com/gat/event.asp?n|showname=coming&showcode=507957&e|promoter=372&resultsperpage=50&orderby=date%2Ctime&filler1=gigsandtours&filler2=507957
  3. I cross posted with RosieH there, but with the same sentiment. If that was me and some random person held me up for ridicule on a public forum I would be DEVASTATED. Mad as hell too.
  4. That's very harsh. It's perhaps not the best choice of photograph but I wouldn't judge her credentials on the basis of the photograph. Nothing wrong with her breasts - just a combination of the cut of her top and the way she is sitting. Like I said, not the best photograph. She's a woman in business for herself - good for her.

I?m loving Jah's comment; the best on here so far. A little succinct, but says it all. Edited because I see that I just did the "100" without even trying.
  6. So how's it working out for you Brendan? This whole being a brand new dad thing that you've gone and got yourself into. How's that going?
  7. RosieH in handcuffs - there's one for the family album. Px
  8. Sympathy RosieH. What about you get yourself some noise cancelling headphones and just wear them round the house? Otherwise Leonard Cohen or the Cure. Px

    Spooks

The best thing about the episode I saw is that the Spooks HQ (exterior) is the Masonic building in Covent Garden and my office backs on to it. It's an amazing place - I went in there once during an open weekend. MM - Say No to 0870 is indeed a wonderful thing. Interestingly enough, a lot of the landline numbers provided are submitted by Whistleblowers from the companies. I like the idea of that. Mockney - pure Dad's Army. Px

    Spooks

I don't normally watch TV so I'm not that familiar with Spooks but I did see this week's episode. There was a bit of dialogue that said - and I'm paraphrasing hugely - "get on to the electricity board and find out where you can get an uninterrupted supply". For the love of God, have any of these writers actually tried calling a frigging utility company this century? Which option does MI5 select after listening to the recorded message? What account number entered (followed by the hash key)? When they finally speak to an actual human voice (who may or not be in the same hemisphere), exactly what degree of knowledge are they expecting that person to have? Or maybe they just ask to speak to a supervisor straight away. ?Hello I?m MI5 calling to save human-kind as we know it? ?Well I?m very sorry but you can?t do that on your present plan but is there anything else I can help you with today?? Is it me? Is it just me? Tell me.

I have so much to contribute to this; I don't know where to start. Px
  12. I loved that film too, and Meryl Streep in it. Anyone seen the September Issue? I was thinking about that film the other day because I swear that if Anna Wintour* was a man she would be the equally scary Tom Ford. * For the uninitiated, the Meryl Streep character is based on Anna Wintour. Apparently Ms Wintour allowed the September Issue to be made as she thought it would be good PR to make up a bit of ground for the Devil Wears Prada. Backfired - oh yes.
  13. That's a perfect example DJKQ. Lorenzo's Oil was a heartbreaking and inspirational movie.
  14. Richard Branson has an honorary degree from Loughborough University. He's a doctor of technology. I'm not completely sure of my facts here but it's my understanding that he had a poor academic record when he went into business for himself. The guy done good though. He's exactly the sort of person honorary degrees should go to.
  15. That's so very sad. It was the Celine Dion CD that did for me too Ted Max. It instantly reminded me of this W H Auden poem, The Unknown Citizen. (Not too many times that you'll see Celine Dion and W H Auden in the same post), He was found by the Bureau of Statistics to be One against whom there was no official complaint, And all the reports on his conduct agree That, in the modern sense of an old-fashioned word, he was a saint, For in everything he did he served the Greater Community. Except for the War till the day he retired He worked in a factory and never got fired, But satisfied his employers, Fudge Motors Inc. Yet he wasn't a scab or odd in his views, For his Union reports that he paid his dues, (Our report on his Union shows it was sound) And our Social Psychology workers found That he was popular with his mates and liked a drink. The Press are convinced that he bought a paper every day And that his reactions to advertisements were normal in every way. Policies taken out in his name prove that he was fully insured, And his Health-card shows he was once in hospital but left it cured. Both Producers Research and High-Grade Living declare He was fully sensible to the advantages of the Instalment Plan And had everything necessary to the Modern Man, A phonograph, a radio, a car and a frigidaire. Our researchers into Public Opinion are content That he held the proper opinions for the time of year; When there was peace, he was for peace: when there was war, he went. He was married and added five children to the population, Which our Eugenist says was the right number for a parent of his generation. And our teachers report that he never interfered with their education. Was he free? Was he happy? The question is absurd: Had anything been wrong, we should certainly have heard.
  16. Post deleted because I had a dumb moment.
  17. PeckhamRose - big TC fan. What a shame. Some Like It Hot with Jack Lemmon - he was brilliant in that.
  18. Oh dear I'm sorry. I've failed at my basic PC housekeeping skills. I can't cook either! I've deleted some messages LB and I'm positively shaking with anticipation. PM me. Px
  19. I want to go for many reasons - making an effort to go to all forum drinks and make nice and sociable with the neighbours - haven't been to the Actress yet - celebrating Friday night BUT I need to get my roots done and my hairdresser can only fit me in late on Friday. Life's a bitch. So I'll be there at some stage, even if I still have a towel on my head. Pxxx
  20. Didn't know where to post this as it's not really theatre, but for any Tim Minchin fans out there I think this is a corker: http://www.tamlondon.org/resources/storm-ticket/#ecwid:
  21. Over the years I've done up 3 homes so I do know how hard it is to motivate yourself and live with the mess etc. I'm just beginning a major refurbishment of my current property but I won't be doing anything myself (other than shopping). I couldn't do it again - 3 is enough - don't have the energy for a 4th - I'm paying someone else. It's hard hard work. Maybe get a friend to help you - call in some favours. Very best of luck. Px
  22. Get someone in to do it. Job done.
  23. There is an Anderson shelter at the bottom of my garden, still.

    Great Gigs

Yes indeed Hibbs - it is a waiting game. The buying pages will go live again at some random time today/tomorrow. As soon as "sold out" disappears you should tick that little white box (terms and conditions), hit "proceed" and get your details entered as fast as you possibly can. Keep trying today/tomorrow.

    Great Gigs

For Hibbs and anyone else who wants to go to the Electronic Proms but couldn't get tickets this morning, here is the buying screen. Everything is showing as sold out. Keep that page on your PC and hit refresh any chance you can. The gigs are NOT sold out and the buying screens will go live again - I promise - you just need to be on line when they go live. http://www2.seetickets.com/bbcelectricproms/? Seetickets is the crappest selling agency on the planet - they are showing as sold out because otherwise their pathetic little website would crash, as it does when more than 7 people at a time log on to it.
