  1. Never been on this thread before. You're a lively lot. So I need a PS3 then? So I can play GTA5? I'm looking to form my own posse so I can hold up convenience stores and cause mayhem (in my spare time)
  2. Is there any point getting a PS4? It doesn't seem to have any good games. Why can't you play GTAV on PS4? Or can you?
  3. Misi - false economy and you're making the process more stressful for yourselves. Go with No Flies, local firm, local knowledge, flat fee of ?3k regardless of how much your house sells for. http://no-flies.co.uk/
  4. A while back there were some very bad reviews of the Leisure Centre. I seem to remember that one of the main problems was that it was difficult to get into the classes. Are there any current members who can say what the situation is now? I am thinking of joining but if I can't get access to the classes then there is no point and I can do without the frustration. Thank you.
  5. Yes, very well done at the Royal Court. Outstanding. If you book your tickets for the West End play via the Royal Court, you get a better deal. Here's a link http://www.royalcourttheatre.com/whats-on/let-the-right-one-in-west-end?dm_i=1P0Z,27JWS,9M60DD,7ZXU3,1
  6. Let The Right One In, which I saw at the Royal Court before Christmas and is transferring to the West End. I can recommend it highly but it is scary. I saw 1984 at the Almeida last week. Very well done but a bit grim (obviously). Next week me and Hibbs are going to see the lovely and talented Lesley Sharp in A Taste of Honey. It is getting good reviews.
  7. Seven pages and still running. I just came across this safety light for cyclists. Good idea or not? https://www.blaze.cc/product/lights/laserlight

    BAFTAs

To be honest I keep my head down during the awards season because there are too many of them. BAFTAs, Golden Globes, Oscars, Grammys, Brits and on and on and on. It's the time of year when hardly a week goes by without celebs getting awards for something or other. It's very unreal and feeds the celebrity culture. I like looking at the dresses but I don't care who wins. Px
  9. Katanita - most sensible post I've read in a long time - well done. Px
  10. The Rivoli Ballroom is a magical place but I wouldn't go and see Damon Albarn if he was doing a free gig in the EDF - I am not a fan. This is a paperless event and tickets are not being touted on Seatwave or anywhere else. It's lovely to see live music in small venues and it's always going to be a problem when demand outstrips supply. If he played the O2 would that make people happier? When big artists play small venues it is normal for the event to be paperless (as this one is), so I really don't understand the problem. Seetickets is a joke of a website and it throws up all kinds of error messages when tickets go on-sale. Keep hitting F5 until the tickets load (which they will) and you get to a buying screen.
  11. My best time is today, this morning having my coffee and listening to long-forgotten hits. You've got to live in the now. I'm not liking the title of this thread, which suggests that the best has gone. I don't think that's what Otta intended though and, that said, there are some nice memories on here. Px

There is a glass partition between the minute bathroom and the bedroom. WTF! When I am in the bathroom I want to be surrounded by solid walls. Privacy! You can go get take-away and bring it back and eat it in say, the outside courtyard area, which is really lovely. The bars can get busy in the evenings, which is annoying if you're just trying to get a drink at your hotel. I had an OK stay at the Hudson but I wouldn't rush back. Like Jeremy has said - it's more interesting to be downtown in Chelsea/Meatpacking/East Village etc.
  13. I had the same problem and the only way ahead, for me, was to raise my roof and get my neighbour to raise theirs too. In the end I decided not to go ahead. I didn't get as far as applying for planning permission. I used Prestige Build who work mainly in SE22 (their vans are becoming ubiquitous). They have many recommendations on this forum. Not cheap but they do top work.
  14. Hudson Hotel is very nice (have also stayed there), but it really isn't near Times Square. Unless there is a specific reason why you need to be near Times Square I'd avoid it like the plague - it's a dump. The Hudson is at Columbia Circus, Central Park. Very nice public areas but the rooms are tiny and the bathrooms aren't that private (worth considering if you're sharing a room). There is always some trendy new hotel opening in NYC and Trip Advisor is always helpful http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotels-g60763-New_York_City_New_York-Hotels.html Have stayed at many New York Hotels and I don't have a favourite. The Library Hotel always gets good reviews and I mean to try it some time but it hasn't happened yet. I've stayed at the Andaz and it was nice. Last trip I stayed at the Gansevoort. Very spacious rooms and nice staff. Kim Kardshian was living there at the time. The whole bloody pantomime every time she walked through the lobby was hilarious. If you're on a tight budget then consider staying at the Chelsea Lodge. I've stayed here to keep the costs down when I've needed to be in the city for more than a week. http://www.chelsealodge.com/Suites.html I stayed in a garden suite which was lovely. Hope this helps. Do go and see Sleep No More, which is fabulous: http://www.sleepnomore.com/
  15. Well done NickT I also have CCTV but I have no DIY skills so my CCTV was installed and is maintained by Camera Europe, who I can highly recommend (they also do the Ivy House). http://www.cctv-installers-london.com/
  16. Why - because jamescpr90 registered on the forum just this morning and has so far made two snide posts.
  17. Were they the wrong type of leaves?
  18. I'm very loyal to St Christopher's.
  19. I had them last night. Pointed to my newish alarm and said I don't need a new once, thinking (stupidly) they'd just say "fair enough". But no - wouldn't go. What does it take for a penny to drop - I'VE ALREADY GOT A BLOODY ALARM, LOOK, IT'S JUST ABOVE OUR HEADS!
  20. david_carnell Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Ghandi > Mother Teresa > Aneurin Bevan Mother Teresa doesn't belong on this list. Very misguided person. RIP Mandella though. I came face to face with NM once. I had a boyfriend who lived in Muswell Hill. I was on my way to my BF's house and I saw Nelson Mandella walking from a house to a car. I stood and stared and eventually said hello and he smiled and got in the car. It was an extraordinary moment. You don't expect to come across a legend in a London suburb. I told my boyfriend and he said, oh yeah, there's an ANC guy with a house in my street. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/7429566/South-African-government-buys-ANC-leaders-Muswell-Hill-home.html

    Local Crime

There was a time when the main section was full of lost cats. Remember? Nobody would mind an incident being on the main page if it was an emergency, but then it could be relegated. I mean, who needs to be looking at "bad traffic on LL this morning" for a week. Lifetime ban isn't good enough; find out where they live and give them a house call.

    Local Crime

Hello admin, Is it possible for crime to have it's own section? I know it isn't the first time you've been asked to consider this, and I know you have your reasons for doing things the way they are done, but the main section has been depressing reading for a long time. Please consider. Thank you. Px
  23. I just had a text from my Mastercard provider; someone is shopping online with it right now at places I don't shop at. I've told them to cancel the card. Thing is, I know it is all rather tiresome, but the people who are stealing our money are often very clever at it, so you can't really blame the banks for imposing stringent checks.
  24. Also, beware of the scam where they tell you to call your bank but they don't hang up so when you pick up the phone and think you're dialling your bank, the scammers are still on the line. If this happens to you say that you will call your bank back, but on a different phone. Like Jeremy, if my bank called me then I'd expect them to have relevant information and not be asking me for my account numbers etc. I shop a lot online so I get numerous calls/texts from my credit card/bank asking if I've made certain transactions (and I usually have).
  25. That's a great post landlover
