  2. This thread needs a big bump. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE VOTE FOR THE HORNIMAN. The last project this company did (the Rain Room) finished last week at the Barbican. It was free but there was a permanent 2 hour queue to get in, except for the final weekend when it was longer than that. I've no idea if it was good or not because I was put off by the queues and didn't see it. http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/audioslideshow/2013/feb/26/barbican-rain-room-audio-slideshow This is our chance to have an exhibit on our doorstep, at the Horniman. It's worth 2 minutes of your time to register and vote, so please. Use the OP's link at the top of the thread to vote. It's a bit confusing at the end when you have to drag and drop the icon thingy, but please persevere.
  3. What is it about the Eurostar? Every single time I get on it there's some floozy putting on nail varnish. You're right; it's anti-social. The smell carries and the windows are closed.

  5. So you are an ebay seller? I hadn't picked that up - I thought you might be shipping to a friend or relative or something. Oh dear - if you've been selling perfume on ebay then these new regulations will knock that on the head. So does this mean you can't take perfume on a plane any more? That will piss off the duty free shops.
  6. I daresay that Wilton's Music Hall might be able to find a corner that would serve. They have lots of little hidden niches there. http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&sugexp=les%3B&gs_rn=2&gs_ri=hp&cp=12&gs_id=2u&xhr=t&q=peckham+rye+station&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&bvm=bv.42261806,d.d2k&biw=1920&bih=911&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=NSUaUdWEBu-k0AWprYHgDA#um=1&hl=en&tbo=d&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=wiltons+music+hall&oq=wiltons+music+hall&gs_l=img.3..0l2j0i24j0i10i24l7.3250.5921.0.6136.18.17.0.1.1.0.81.981.17.17.0...0.0...1c.1.2.img.H6RxjT1b4bc&fp=1&biw=1920&bih=911&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&cad=b&imgrc=q-5O0jVSdfmklM%3A%3BLXYrcuKHxX0g_M%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252F1.bp.blogspot.com%252F_gTuDVeFXM7M%252FS9lZkxO2ddI%252FAAAAAAAAAfk%252FPYwafE43mAM%252Fs1600%252FWilton's%252BMusic%252BHall11.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.dashacaffrey.com%252F2010%252F04%252F29%252Famazing-london-wedding-venue-wiltons-music-hall%252F%3B960%3B640

  8. Reading the title, "post restrictions", I thought maybe admin had been a little too harsh with someone and there was rebellion in the rank and file. Not so. Lameduck, ebay can be a good resource for discontinued/hard to get perfumes. Have you perhaps considered looking at ebay in the US so that the perfume can be sent by domestic courier within the US?
  9. I know it sucks, but what Nettie said. If you have the energy then contest it. Personally I would pay up and move on.

Is anyone waiting with interest for Dave Grohl's new documentary, Sound City? He pulled together a load of legendary musicians to play at Sundance a couple of weeks ago and they're coming to London for a surprise gig next week. Tickets are on sale at 10am this morning. On sale here http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/event/1F004A4BF90BA4E3?artistid=1820220&majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=1 and here http://www.gigsandtours.com/event/sound-city-players/the-forum/695826 Last gig here http://www.nme.com/news/foo-fighters/68495
  12. Maybe he wants to concentrate on his golf.
  13. You bought something on the forum and it didn't work. You could have bought it from Harrods and it might not work. It happens. I gave something (for free) to someone last week and it didn't work. It happens. You've messaged her and she hasn't got back to you. Perhaps she has a busy life off-line. Give her the benefit of the doubt, as you would expect if you were in her shoes. Perhaps she does intend to abscond with your money but you don't know that so give her a chance. Coming on here and referring to her as "that stupid woman" is bang out of order. If you've messaged her in that same tone then you might like to brace yourself for a bumpy ride.
  14. Yes I remember Flip and Dicky Dirts in Camberwell. I feel old now. Flip was a lot of Americana I remember. Does anyone remember Laurence Corner on the Camden Road? I bought something from there once. What was I thinking?
  15. Today, I have been mostly laughing at pretentious videos, here and here
  16. Hi Martha - you might want to familiarise yourself with forum etiquette. Starting a thread on every page of the forum is spam and it's rude.

Thanks Red Devil - why didn't I think of that. I wouldn't have turned up without a ticket given the fiasco of the on-sale, so I was surprised to see people turning up on spec. My feeling is that so long as the queues remain smallish that everyone who queues will get in. Very chilled. Tate Modern should do more stuff like that.

    Great Gigs

I saw Kraftwerk last night at Tate Modern. I'm not the biggest fan ever but they mark a certain period of my life with one particular boyfriend so it was a walk down memory lane. Extremely chilled out gig. Very impressed with Tate organisation (yes the ticket on-sale was a fiasco but they were good last night). They could have shoe-horned a couple more hundred people in there but they didn't; everyone had space to move so that was nice. Anyway, I just wanted to post to let people know that they have returned tickets. There is a dedicated returns queue at the Tate and they are letting people in from the queue. I'm not sure how many people get in but I guess if anyone is interested they could phone the Tate Modern and ask.

  21. I was wondering if anyone on here had experience of museum sleepovers. I'm thinking of planning a group activity and would appreciate any wisdom that you may care to share.
  22. I've put a coat on over my nightie to run to the shops before now. Come to think of it, there have been times I've just worn a coat over nothing to run to the shops. I'm talking about a quick dash for an item I can't live without; not a stroll down the lane with a two page shopping list.
  23. I'm very sorry for your loss Clofty, and glad that you were able to take some comfort from the support offered.
  24. Sometimes if I'm desperate I'll nip in and use the toilets. That's how I see them; as one big giant toilet. It often feels like something is going to kick off in there. Once, about 14 years ago, my friend drove me to that drive in one near Streatham when I was extremely drunk. I wouldn't eat one sober.
