  1. Thanks for nothing. I've become obsessed. I didn't even know you posts were being counted. Now I've spent the last 15 minutes looking at tallies.
  2. That's good to know.

  4. Is it safe?
  5. But Sean, LA WOMAN is my absolute favourite song of all time to play, in the car, on my own, late at night, at full blast. Try it, right now, get the wheels out, hit the South Circular, drive to Lewisham and back (for example) and then come and tell me I'm wrong. Quite agree with you about stuck with them at a party though - some of them are dead anyway so that's a real conversation stopper.
  6. Anyone running from ED this year?
  7. capt_birdseye - what a relief - I thought you were dead.
  8. Random muso thoughts: Kraftwerk played both Brixton and the Royal Festival Hall in living memory (3-4 years ago I think). In performance they are really dull. The 2008 Meltdown Festival at the Festival Hall (with Massive Attack as curators) due to announce lineup any day now. Portishead? Madonna guesting maybe? Tricky (what happened to him?). Whatever. These last few days I've been mostly listening to The Doors - man I would have loved to have seen The Doors play. Except for right now this moment - I'm listening to Iggy.
  9. Did the Picture Gallery actually reply? Or were they to posh?
  10. Radiohead
  11. I knitted a jumper once. It was awful. I may still be on the wanted list for "crimes against wool". Then I discovered Selfridges and the rest is history. The purple one is nice though.
  12. Oh dear, we've gone back on topic. And just when I was entertaining the notion that George Clooney might come to ED. What a shame.
  13. Guy Fawkes is the only person ever to enter the Palace of Westminster with good intentions.
  14. Might there be a part for George Clooney?

    a joke

Not really a joke but made me laugh out loud http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDg7kWgs5e0&eurl
  16. HonaloochieB that's a great story. Would make a good movie don't you think? Spadetownboy, why so bitter? There's really no need.
  17. Is anywhere open today for coffee? Neros, Green & Blue? I want to go out and have a cuppa but it's cold and I don't want to get to where I'm going and find it shut (yes I know I'm being a pussy).
  18. I think the Dr Boo ladies are fabulous and always helpful. I would find it really off-putting to shop somewhere that exchanged cosmetics.
  19. Calm down spadetownboy, there's no need. One lunchtime a year ago I found a handbag near the Post Office in Charing Cross. It still had money/cards etc - I think it had been dropped rather than nicked. I took it to Charing Cross Police Station, where the waiting room was standing room only. One poor woman saw my jaw hit the ground and told me she'd been there for 2 hours. I just left the bag on the counter and got out quick. I was waiting for a tap on the shoulder all the way down the road but it didn't happen. I work for a company that believes in the whole "greed is good and lunch is for losers" ethos, so 2 hours out of my working day just ain't gonna happen. I'm on elastic every time I leave my desk.
  20. Yes you are being reasonable and you have my sincere sympathies. Excess noise can drive you nuts. We all have to live together and sometimes that is really hard to do when properties are poorly soundproofed. My advice is to drop a note through your neighbour's door saying that there is a problem and you would like to discuss it and would like to fix a time to talk. I don't think you're being unreasonable - but your neighbours aren't being unreasonable either - it's just that most conversions were done on the cheap and corners were cut on soundproofing. I lived in a house for many years but before then I lived in a flat on Melbourne Grove - the slightest noise travelled between the flats. Good luck.
  21. We live on a tiny tiny island with a lot of cars. I think parking fines do need to be punative (nothing personal Lilly). There is a big ouch factor to paying ?120. Maybe drivers need to ask themselves if they really need to take the car; walk instead maybe?
  22. Just returned from dinner at Green & Blue; badly missed over the last few months. A lovely evening but tarnished by the obnoxious LOUD LOUD LOUD people at one table. Consistently loud all evening, with the loudness punctuated by intermittent ear-splitting banshee-like wailing that passed for laughing. There?s just no need ? they would have heard each other sufficiently at just one quarter of the volume. Do people like this never notice that the people around them are rolling their eyes and covering their ears? It?s really anti-social. Rant over. I feel better now. Bill me.

    Great Gigs

Mogwai at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on 12th May - has all the makings of a very chilled out evening and a great gig. Not really my thing but they're very popular so I thought I would post it here.
  24. I don't each much bread but the last loaf I bought was late last night (coming home from a gig, ever so slightly the worse for wear) from the really nice Greek (I think) deli opposite Foxtons. It was really good. I have also previously bought from outside Moxtons and from EDDeli - but the Greek deli was the best.
  25. Dawes Doors has been recommended by a few people
