  1. Me too. I take everything to the dry cleaners. My dry cleaner loves me. I think I'm putting his children through school.
  2. Irony Jah. Duhh.
  3. Jah, good choice. What about "Time Is On My Side"? Maybe you can slot that into your funeral gig somewhere.
  4. Jeremy - I haven't seen any of the films on your list but I'll look out for them. Definitely get the Jesse James film; there's even a cameo from Nick Cave. Very slow paced; nothing happens quickly. I fell in love with Brad Pitt when he was the hitchhiking cowboy in Thelma & Louise. I would hit the breaks real fast if I saw Mr Pitt with his thumb out.
  5. I've seen Gone Baby Gone and I think both Afflecks did a great job. I was completely hooked by the acting and plot but ultimately I think the ending was a bit of a disappointment. Casey Affleck was in the Jesse James picture with Brad Pitt (deep sigh). I really enjoyed that but most people didn't.
  6. I give up Jah - that's pretty obscure and I definitely wouldn't be able to name that song in 1, 2 or even 3. This pretty much sums up my day today. 19th Nervous Breakdown - Rolling Stones
  7. Jeremy - if you don't mind foreigh language what about something by Pedro Almodovar? "Women on the Edge of a Nervous Breakdown" is my favourite Almodovar. Off the top of my head here are 10 fils I would recommend What's Eating Gilbert Grape Little Miss Sunshine Ed Wood Casino Walk the Line (Johnny Cash biopic but way superior to most biopics) Jean De Floret/Manon Des Sources Black Book The Lives of Others The Secretary Sexy Beast
  8. Tops - Rolling Stones
  9. Here's the dancing scene from LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=jBD68zAROII She's a Super Freak. I defy you not to sing along.
  10. Camberwell Carrot. This will tend to make you very high http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=rW7xS3V5jtg

  12. Dear Mr Carnell, I wish you the very best of health and all that; but should you shuffle off any time soon then I'm definitely coming. Great BB video too; don't they look young! Scary stuff - I remember it first time round (when it wasn't a good idea to drive a VW). I think you should stick with Paranoid though. What a great song to be buried to. Or this.... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=OCAjmuA1HDk
  13. That's one of my all time favourite Bowies and I really like this version. Try this version of Kashmir from the No Quarter Album, it's sublime. Rather long I'm afraid, but worth it. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_MHfDWaKO9s When I kick the bucket and my coffin is thrown into the flames, it will probably be to the pounding, relentless Kashmir riff (turned up to 11).

    Great Gigs

Goldfrapp was very much the singing pixie. Very mellow and magical. Mesmerising really. Which is very nice, but not really to my taste. I'm not often mellow. The venue was very difficult to find but the funny thing was that there were so many of us looking for us that we all strung together and arrived in a big group. Even then we had to circle it twice to find the way in. The building was lit up blue from inside and I wish they had put "look for the building lit up blue" on the tickets - it would have made the journey easier, if less fun. Definitely 10/10 for ambience though. If you want to see how beautiful the whole thing looked .... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=HEJKDeVAWk0 Can't praise BBC Electric Proms highly enough; they put different elements together so, for me, I go and see things that I wouldn't normally. Tonight I'm going to Oasis at the Roundhouse. I'm NOT the biggest Oasis fan on the planet so I don't know how that will go - I guess I'll let you know.

Eric Clapton is at the Albert Hall again next May. Here's a link to the pre-sale. There are still some nice stalls seats available. http://www.seetickets.com/bookingsdirect/bookings%20direct.asp?show=eric+clapton&filler2=eshot
  17. Hi Hi Silver Lining - Jeff Beck Sorry, bit naff but I had to do it! Heard him play this live once and that's what he said.
  18. Solitary Man - Neil Diamond - one of my favourite songs actually - I'm off to have a listen right now.
  19. True. What sort of "ist" am I if I take a pop at a black mini-cab driver?
  20. Brendan - take your point. Black cab drivers have done the knowledge but mini cab drivers are mostly hopeless. I take a lot of mini cabs.
  21. Taxi drivers who expect me to give them directions. Got a satnav? Switch it on and get your money's worth then.
  22. The Weeping Song - Nick Cave & Bad Seeds
  23. Taxi drivers who are too lazy to knock at my door so sit outside blowing their horns instead. It's rude. I never tip them.

Mr McG - Yes it is Regent's Park way I think - some folk dancing hall. Sounds strange. You been there?
  25. Yes there is such a thing as professional barstaff. For me it's someone who is properly trained and sees it as a proper job, not someone using bar work as a stepping stone or to get extra money but doesn't really have the skills to run a bar properly.
