I'm in bed with my laptop watching disc 3 (well it is Sunday). Good stuff. My favourite line so far is "slower than a white man in slippers". Made me smile. I could watch another episode or I could get dressed and go to the gym. What's it to be?

I've also got Bette Midler on my i-pod. I love her. I spent last Christmas/New Year in Vegas and my one regret is that we missed her by days. Bette's taken over at Ceasar's Palace from that awful Titanic woman whose name I can't remember. I would love to see her live. I'm going to San Fran this New Years - maybe I'll take me a little trip into the dessert to go see Bette when I'm out there. I've actually got some fairly embarrassing stuff on my i-pod. I have my cheesy side.

I've got Dolly's greatest hits on my i-Pod

Butterscotch Angel Delight...... ambrosia of the gods

Pickled Onion Space Raiders and Sandwich Spread! Sometimes when I'm in the supermarket I look at things and think to myself "who the heck buys this crap". Well now I know. Remember a few years ago when Heinz threatened to withdraw salad cream because of poor sales? Remember the uproar that followed and what that did for salad cream and we all started buying it again. I grew up in the 70s when salads were dripping in the stuff. I don't have any food-reated guilty pleasures anymore because my aged metabolism denies me any such pleasures. One past guilty pleasure was mixing up a whole packed of Angel Delight, putting it in the freezer for 20 minutes, then scoffing the lot. How I miss that.

PeckhamRose Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > Anyone seeing the Neil La Bute show at Almeida? > Giggirl? I just got tickets for that too. I had a good hard look at the Neil La Bute but I decided against; the subject matter is a little uncomfortable for me; there be dragons. I did see his last debut at the Almeida though - that was the Mercy Seat, his 9/11 play a few years back. I was flying off to Dublin very early the next morning and arrived at the theatre with a huge suitcase which the theatre manager looked after for me. You don't get that in the West End. Not for me, for personal reasons, but it will probably be a huge hit. http://www.almeida.co.uk/production_details/production_details.aspx?code=73

Well, if you insist. I already put this picture on another thread but, in this case, repetition won't hurt one bit.

Tony sweetie - we do honestly love your brains and your personality. Those things make us sing with joy. It's just that, on top of that (so to speak) we like to see a little, erm, extra something. Oh yes we do.

I just had another look, just to make sure, and, well, no. Each to their own honey but he's got that "Fekk you" way of looking that models something have, and I just find that so unattractive. Just not working for me and that's a little worrying because I do normally appreciate men in their underwear. OMG I must be very seriously ill.

Anna - thank you so much for thinking of us. I'm touched. It's just that they don't really work for me. They look like they'd rather all be banging each other for a start. I'm sure it's very eye catching in a "Hello Girls" sort of way and most of us like a little cheering up in the morning. But, nah, just not floating my boat. I wonder if I'm coming down with something? I'm sure there's a thermometer somewhere.....

When do they get time to push prams? They've got no time on their hands for pram pushing. They're far too busy lounging in coffee shops to push prams.

Sympathies guys. Why do people go to gigs to talk? Why don't they go to the pub instead and give us all a break. That must have been a real killer at the Lambchop gig as they do some pretty quiet stuff. The worst offenders are often music industry people; record companies and guest list liggers. They haven?t paid to get in; it?s just another gig ? whatever ? they can be a royal pain in the arse. Being in the music industry/VIP (so called) section of an audience is not always a good thing. The seats are good but that?s about it. Here?s a confession ? I?m not proud of this but it happened. I?m a fairly mild mannered and polite individual. I?m not argumentative and I?m certainly not physical. BUT?.. (deep breath) a few years ago I was at Madonna?s Drowned World gig at Earls Court and I was sitting next to a certain Hollywood starlet (no names no pack drill). She and her pall talked throughout the gig (and I really do mean throughout). Worse, it was just brainless chatter and everything was ?awesome?. It was near the end of the gig and the ballads started and so the valley girls became even more annoying. I leaned across to the little starlet and asked her ? and I swear to God I was so polite I could have been the Queen of England greeting a head of state ? ?would you mind please not talking blah blah blah ? thank you very much? ? sort of thing. She obviously wasn?t used to hearing ?no? so she went into a complete rant. I made the quick decision to just drop it ?.. until I heard the words ?f*c* off you fuc*ing bitch?. I snapped like a ... snappy thing - BIG TIME. I went psycho on the bitches. Told them that if either one of them opened their mouth before the end of the gig I would put my fist so far into it I would basically be wearing them as jewellery. I really meant it too. I was deeply scary and I don?t know where all the rage suddenly came from (time of the month, man trouble, over-exposure to valley-girls, all of the above). Never ever behaved like that before or since. It worked though. And breathe. Also I saw Tori Amos a few years ago at Hammersmith Apollo (she does some pretty quiet stuff) and three times the Apollo?s STAFF had to be asked to quieten down by members of the audience. It?s bad when you can?t hear the artist over the help.

I've seen series 5 of CSI Miami. Wrong thread huh? Sorry. Comments withdrawn. Just to recap; am on disc 2 of series 2. :-$

Right, yes, is this what you have in mind..... Bare Groove will be doing a Christmas gig at The Plough on Friday 12th December. Put it in your diaries.

It was totally unbelievable. Complete shite. The plots were beyond silly. You were right first time Keef.

Mightyroar, I like to think that given half the chance I would have that cardi and the shirt off him so quickly that it wouldn't really register.

I'm conflicted. Really glad that Obama got the nod and a large part of me wants to jump up and down and shout and sing. But that's what I did when Tony Blair got in and look how that turned out. I want to believe and I despise myself for being this cynical.

Thanks for the tip Keef. That's worth knowing. I'm thinking of cancelling my membership to be honest. I struggle to find films to put on my list and then when they come I struggle to find the time to watch. For months now I've had The Wire set to number one priority and had everything else on my list set to low priority. What's the point of prioritising discs if they're going to ignore your choices? Great tip though.

I'm such a hypocrite. At every gig these days you see people pointing their phones at the stage and recording rather than actually watching what's going on. Tut tut I go "stop that and watch the gig". Then when I get home I start searching for the clips on Youtube. Such a hypocrite. Anyway, moving swiftly on, here is Antony from last Friday's gig at the Barbican. Poor quality but what a performance. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=VrbMEITySj8 Edited 'cos I just found this on youtube, which is a better recording of the song http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=pQzH00Xrh2w

The Wire Season 2 has been right at the top of my "must have NOW" list with lovefilm.com forever and I finally received disc 1 on Saturday morning. I was giddy with excitement. Unfortunately I had to hurry off to the West End to the Saturday afternoon matinee of Hairspray with my Brighton friends (how very gay my Saturday was). Anyway, Good Morning Baltimore y'all http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=egLhkmA8Z50 Many hours later I was tucked up in bed (slightly pissed) watching disc 1 on my laptop. A whole different take on Baltimore, I think you'll agree. Gosh I'd almost forgotten how hot McNulty is. So long since I saw Season 1 that I'm sort of finding my feet a little. It's all good.

Birmingham International Airport's 33 page 2007-2008 Report and Accounts has an interesting photo, showing what a luggage scanner sees: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/10/06/brum_airport_shocker/ Look hard. OMG I'm never ever flying anywhere again.

Ahh SimonM you has the knowledge. You has passed the "girl thangs" test with flying colours. Jane Birkin, high priestess of Hermes and godmother of the Birkin.

Ahh, culture. Thanks for that. Very nice. Unfortunately the Grey Goose I'm most familiar with comes in a bottle.
