In my experience easyjet were fine. I did a 5hr flight with them and 4 month old. You'll board second unless you pay for speedy boarding.depending on destination and season there may be quite a few families.as for travelling with 2,under two on your own I don't think its allowed on any airline because of safety and need to have them on your lap for take off and landing.easyjet allow hand luggage on regardless of weight as long as its the right dimensions. I usually travel with medium backpack with daughter bag inside and supplies of food to last a week!

I think they always have to refund taxes if you don't end up using the flights.usually substantial amount.

Advice re childcare vouchers during maternity leave...
nikki73 replied to EmmaCC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Apologies for reviving an old thread but I am having some problems with my pay and salary sacrifice for childcare vouchers. I haven't doublechecked but I am pretty sure 243 where taken out of my SMP every month. I then went on to unpaid leave for a couple of months. I returned to work in October. To my shock and horror I was charged ?1200 for childcare vouchers in December. I can only think that they are backdating to mid July when my SMP ended. Can they do this and should I try recouping the deductions made during the 3 months where I was on SMP? Any arguments I can put forward. Quite uneasy about it all because my head is also the head of HR and loads of redundancies are to be announced. thanks for any tips -
my provider is called kiddivouchers and they have a freephone number you can find by doing a google if that's of any help. changes are being introduced for higher rae tax payers in April. to do with the amount you can claim i think. if you get on a scheme now they cant vary the terms.

Thanks for the tips. I am going to check out the rollout ones I think.

Do I want a Maclaren Techno XT or XLR...??
nikki73 replied to Knomester's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We also had a britax vigour which i suspect is the "ancestor" of the one you have. great but too heavy to get around now baby is older. we were going to buy a quest which is sold in the uk/us as suitable from 3 months but in europe from 6. the idea was to have a lighter buggy for public transport. in the end we got an xt because our order got messed up. we are very happy with it but i agree with belle and ko quest is probably best option as a second buggy. i think xlr is great but for newborns because of carrycot option. it is also wider than xt or quest. we use two footmuffs on our xt, one maclaren and another thinner oner. we have no problem folding the buggy with them on. -
Child Benefit ........2013
nikki73 replied to duchessofdulwich's topic in The Family Room Discussion
i am with kristymac on this one. Accept I should contribute but expect other better off families to do the same. Also if you do the maths i do wonder whether a higher earning tax payer woman mother of two kids under 5 isn't better off going part-time if she doesn't earn significantly more than 45k, once you take chilcare costs into consideration. -
Help - my 11m old has started trantruming ALREADY!
nikki73 replied to pebbles's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Also have an 11 month old drama princess. I've gone back to work and feel a lot better! Terrible thing to say I know but just cannot cope with the tantrums, head banging etc. I hope it passes and quick. In the meantime we are trying to keep to our resolve to be firm but they are times I just give up (and cry). -
Child Benefit ........2013
nikki73 replied to duchessofdulwich's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Peckhamboy, because of my lack of hard evidence i did say it was only my opinion. But here's my reasoning: child benefit is I assume more often paid to the mother than the father and goes into her household budget, usually used to buy nappies or clothes for the kids. Also like you say there will be some single mothers who earn over 45k and, hey, there might even be one or two women out there who are the main breadwinner and happen to be higher rate tax payers. -
Child Benefit ........2013

To James Barber: how can you say with any honesty that it's 15% richest families in the country if you only take into account one salary. What about all those families with higher joint incomes? Make the cuts you want/need to but please don't insult our intelligence. The decision is UNFAIR UNFAIR UNFAIR. It will in my opinion affect more women than men either directly or indirectly and it is, in my view, plain wrong unless some kind of means testing is introduced. -
At the moment i use the basic (and cheap) free flow tommee tippee cups but the problem is that they aren't big enough to hold a full milk feed. Can anyone recommend the best cup for a 1 year old?

Thanks for asking dulwich mum. The doctor has confirmed what i suspected: tantrums! I knew this would happen one day but so young...

Thanks all, she does ear pull and slap her ear. I had assumed it was tiredness or teething pain. I am having this checked today. Will let you know how we get on.

Thanks all. Both hubby and I slept in the living room last night. She woke and settled herself to sleep within a couple of minutes. Hmmm is it all just one big tantrum... at 11 months? Cot bumpers are a good idea Ko thanks and I'll try making the cot more attractive to her as she hates it but I can't leave toys in it anymore: she uses them to try to climb out. Dulwichmum I hadn't thought of an ear infection. I'll book an appointment tomorrow but are thre any signs I should be looking for?

My daughter is waking at night howling, she bangs her head against the sides, throws herself about the cot and cries and cries for 2+ hours at a time. I find the head banging particularly distressing. She is teething and she has just started nursery but I don't know if part of it isn't just a ploy to end up sleeping in our bed and/or breastfeed which tends to calm her but not necessarily make her sleep. If we take her with us she'll often just start playing, which often involves hair pulling and slapping! On several occasions I decided to let her cry it out but after a while I just feel really guilty in case it is really pain. We use bonjela, calpol, powders and even amber necklace, she still doesn't settle unless we pick her up or take her in our bed. I don't think it's hunger she eats solids well now. Part of the problem I think is that the cot is in our room through lack of space so when she wakes she sees us. I have moved to the living room but I am starting work and I am desperate for a good night's sleep. Is there anything else i can do to help her settle in her cot. And how can i deal with the head banging? Thanks for any tips.

We are looking into buying a maclaren quest. I just wondered whether there is any point in getting a seat liner, apart from looking nice e.g. comfort, cleaning? any drawbacks? Any tips please?
