  1. thanks for all the responses. Oimissus yours really made me laugh! turns out the property was a disaster but good to know for the future. only been searching since November....
  2. Any experience of it? I guess the issues are traffic and noise during the daytime and possibly on saturdays if the school rents out space. but quiet in the evening?
  3. I posted a few weeks ago about north facing garden. I am now looking at a property with an east facing garden. Will it get any sun in the afternoon? will it make the house really cold. Any good with kids?thanks for any tips.
  4. at that time of day i usually take a train to london bridge and then on to waterloo east and walk it from there - 10mn.
  5. I need to send presents for a new baby to india. Does anyone have experience of sending packages to india? what's the best and cheapest way to do this? Royal Mail? Are there any import duties i need to be aware of. Wouldn't want my friend to have to pay for the presents! thanks

  8. We have seen a house we like but the garden is north facing. and there s a huge tree in one of the neighbour s garden and big tree out at the front. Are north gardens really depressing or are they quite good to have wit h smmall kids.we currently are south facing and it does get horribly hot in the kitchen and garden in summer.just wonderinfg what people s experience is of not getting the light/sun with a north garden.thanks for any tips!
  9. hi yes you have to send it.
  10. My little one has the same thing. Have been using Vaseline the past couple of days and really helps. by coincidence was at dermatologist for my other little one today and asked whether this was a good way of dealing with the problem and she felt it was the best. good luck.
  11. Agree with everyone else. I flew with 4week old.it was perfect.she slept through
  12. oh yes the push alongs are lovely too but I'm biaised: it's our present to our 14 month old this Christmas
  13. A simple doll or a little buggy. or both. you can get both for about ?5 at sainsburys, asda etc. My 3 yo still loves hers and her 14 month old sister is also into them. They are not items i find very nice but kids definitely love them.
  14. Thank you, useful to know. I'd forgotten there's a WHSmith on Rye Lane. Found some there.
  15. I am looking for paper that is thick enough to make Christmas cards with. Does anyone know where I might find some. I am close to Rye Lane but could also go to ED to get it. Thanks in advance.
  16. James what site are you thinking of for the peckham rye/nunhead area school? And the timing? The figures on your blog seem to indicate that's where the biggest problem lies. I realise it's not your ward but as another poster says it could relieve pressure in ED. Also if you are looking at expressions of interest from parents whose kids are starting school in 2014 then 3 year olds should be included i.e. born Sept 09 onwards.
  17. Skegness thank you for the feedback. I like the size of Hollydale but know very little else about it so good to hear positive feedback.
  18. i think i'm local to you. i have one you're welcome to borrow.
  19. My daughter stained her best party dress with paint from those little round pots you get with some craft sets, or at least i think that's what it is. does anyone one have any tips to get rid of the stains. Have already washed it with vanish not realising... thanks
  20. This was 4/5 years ago but getting an appointment aT the gardens was an issue.it sounds like things have chsnged though.
  21. If you have children attending these schools would you mind sharing your views on them with me either on the forum or by pm. Thanks
  22. It's for credit check reasons i think and possibly also because i think you need 3 months in the country before being able to open a bank account. it's a big headache. i think i managed a way around it by giving a deposit of a couple + hundred pounds. but she can always get a pay as you go phone. there a good deals out there and cheap handsets. also to call home skype is great or just phone cards she can use from your landline. talk home usually works ok.
  23. do they? i thought they could be used up to the 16th birthday.
  24. I'd also be interested but my daughter is only 3. too young? But definitely in the future.
  25. The first 4 months or so I bathed the baby in the daytime. And not every day. Toddler in front of tv or she would want to join in! And I second out as much as possible. In winter it's trickier because of the dark but we did use the library quite a bit and soft play to tire her out.
