15 or so pupils from Harris were gathered in the street near me on Friday afternoon for some sort of (apparently) pre-arranged fight between 2 of them. They proceeded to get into a fairly brutal fight in the middle of the road while the others cheered them from the side-lines. I am planning on reporting this to staff at Harris and was wondering whether anyone had any experience of contacting the school on something like this and could suggest who might be best to speak to (i.e. someone who might take it reasonably seriously). Thanks Update - I thought I would post something by way of update to say that the School did indeed take this seriously and not only responded very quickly to my contacting them, but dealt with the matter in a timely and efficient manner. The HT and safer schools liaison also helpfully explained to me what they had/were doing to address the issue with the individuals concerned). I thought it only fair to mention this by way of update, so that any parents of children at the school can be assured that it was dealt with effectively and in a very professional manner.

Fortunately it definitely looks like a mouse (I know my rats, unfortunately). Block up any holes big enough to poke a pencil into (with wire wool and/or sealant). Suggest trapping it rather than poisoning it as if poisoned it will go off to some place difficult or impossible to get to where it will die and rot (stinking your place out for a week or two). If you use traps, obviously don't put them anywhere your little ones can reach (same goes for poison, obviously). You might want to check around for droppings and do a spring clean of Barbie's House too?

To be honest, I'm most interested in where this Bellend Road is! Is it just a short walk from Nigel Road, by any chance? -

The new M&S will (obviously) be mobbed, so I'm looing forward to a free pack of delicious orange cheesy goodness, compliments of Louisa. RIP old dump of an Iceland. Sorry the 21st century version of ED finally caught up with you, but there you go. Time to move on.

Painter and Decorator, Brad, All-Round Renovation 07980 662 456
dulwichbloke replied to Bradlington's topic in Reviews
I posted back in March (above). We've now also had the exterior of our house done by Brad and his guys and are delighted at the quality of the work - which matched the excellent job they did on the interior. The outside of the house is transformed - the cracked and crumbling masonry has been fixed and rotting window frames and sills repaired and the paint finish couldn't be better. As before, everyone on the job was professional and extremely considerate. They protected carpets and floors and everything else inside (and outside) the house with great care and cleaned and tidied up every evening before leaving. They were a pleasure to deal with and I would highly recommend them. -
Cat people - What's the best flee treatment for your moggy ?

Apparently with Frontline there's recent immunity to it - or so I was told by the vets. They are now recommending Advocat or Advocate (not sure of its name). Frontline didn't get rid of our cats fleas. The other stuff did. -

Painter and Decorator, Brad, All-Round Renovation 07980 662 456

I can vouch for the loss of postings. About 18 months ago I searched for recommendations on the EDF for a good painter and decorator and Brad was by far the most recommended (and I don't mean by people with just a few postings - I always check that out before placing any weight on them). Unfortunately, Brad was booked up at the time I wanted some decorating work doing (presumably because of his good work and all the recommendations!). However, I have subsequently had work done by Brad and his team and I can safely say they live up to the many recommendations and to my consequently high expectations. They work hard and are very tidy and considerate and produce great looking results. They are also really friendly and make having the unavoidable disruption to your home bearable. I would highly recommend them. -
Before going with the council I would check how they would deal with the mice. If they would poison them you ought to consider the possible stench and/or flies that would follow (unless their bodies can be retrieved). Often you would not be able to get to where they are if they are under floorboards or between walls. Colin from K&O would probably use traps which can then be removed and the mouse disposed of. A smell of rotting mouse would last for 2-4 weeks approx. I would speak to both and see what they would suggest. Good luck!

You couldn't make this up! On January 21, 06:59PM Pinecone wrote: Re: Mugged at knife point this evening "a few weeks ago I got confronted by a dude at the bus stop at the corner of the gardens and peckham rye. he clearly wanted trouble, but I ran off before he produced a knife or did anything." Re: The gardens police cordon Posted by pinecone February 02, 10:31PM "it's more likely the young unfortunate who got stabbed was a low-ranking drugs dealer who didn't pay his supplier on time." Such a high degree of irony must surely have been intentional - pinecone??? Or maybe there was no irony and the "dude" who "clearly wanted trouble" with pinecone just mistook him/her for a low ranking drugs dealer who hadn't paid? Which was it pinecone?

Bit hard to say from the pic but sorry to say it looks more like rat to me. If it is about 0.75" long its rat, mouse is more like 0.25". Rat droppings are also rectangular ended. Hope its mouse though. Good luck!

Council nets ?60k in Lordship Lane fines - Cash Cow
dulwichbloke replied to eddie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Unlurked. You obviously haven't seen the spot I was referring to which is why you appear to have no idea what you are talking about. Suggest you go and have a look then form an opinion. If 50 people 'cut' the corner the lane would not be blocked. -

I have. 'Unlurked' - I agree with some of the bl**ding obvious which you just stated, but not the last part. What is in the picture (and what I saw several times with my own eyes) could never rationally or properly be described as bus lane 'abuse'! THe vehicles were in no way blocking or obstructing anything (buses or anything else) or driving dangerously. The reason that white car spends so much time at that spot is because it is a cash cow - drivers clearly don't think they are doing anything wrong so they are easy prey. If you don't quite understand what I am (perhaps inelegantly) describing, go and take a look some time - you will see what I mean and you will probably see the little white car! I bet if the Council disclosed the proportion of tickets given at that precise spot it would be a disproportionate number of the overall tickets in the ED area. Oh, and for the record, I have never been nicked there so have no axe to grind and I am a daily cyclist not a car commuter. I just hate to see the Council cynically ripping people off for doing something so trivial or without even realising they were doing wrong. It sucks! Saying the Highway Code must be obeyed doesn't for excuse taking advantage of a situation such as this. -

I think that little white car with the camera on a pole sits outside The Cheese Block pointing its camera at the junction opposite just up the road. I noticed that people turning left into the side street tend to start their turn (when they are in the right lane - the left being the bus lane) a few yards before the actual side street and they presumably then get a ticket for moving momentarily into/across the bus lane. They are not actually driving along the bus lane but crossing diagonally over it rather than at right angles when they get level to the side street. I have never seen a bus in the lane at the particular point and I doubt whether they could ever go in it just there because of the position of cars parked on LL near to that junction. From what I could make out it looks like a complete con. I have no sympathy for motorists that choose to break the law or park where they shouldn't or who drive along bus lanes, but it looked to me like people were being targeted (and presumably fined) for doing something that (1) they didn't even realise they were doing wrong and (ii) was in a real sense trivial and neither dangerous or anti-social/obstructive. -

Aw, go on James... I'm sure you can remember the name of the firm of solicitors' you allege has engaged in "illegal" acts? You shouldn't be worried about a defamation claim if what you say can be proved to be true. Is it Glazer Delmar, sponsors of this site? -
