  1. Hi Shorty, Just seen the thread, what a laugh. Happy Birthday and many more. How is your wife getting on with the new extra long ladder you bought her for Christmas so she does not have to stretch so far when cleaning the gutters and windows, my wife love's hers, I think !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am spoiling her now, I am buying her a wheelbarrow, so that she does not have to carry the concrete she has mixed to the back of the garden to lay the foundations for the new 20 foot by 12 foot shed I am buying. Any other ideas for presents I should buy her. Hope you are having, or had a great "Birthday", depending on when you read this.

  4. To edhistory, Front garden not destroyed, car area was occupied by dead grass and wheelie bins. Grass would not grow due too large Laburnam tree. Laburnam is now flourishing and looks beautiful when in flower and very attractive when not in flower.
  5. I fail to see that another parking space has gone. Prior to having a dropped kerb my car was parked in the road, occupying approximately four metres of road space. The permitted single driveway width I was told /allowed is two point five metres, this means an additional one point five metres of road parking space is now available as my vehicle is off road. The calculations are quite simple, car parked in road, 4 metres of road parking space lost, car parked on drive 2.5 metres of road space lost, increase in available road space for parking 1.5 metres.
  6. I had a dropped kerb installed in 2001, so I am not sure whether these contact details are correct, but I hope this may help. Mr Chris Johnson Southwark Council Highways Department Chiltern House Portland Street London SE17 2ES.

  11. Our home insurance was with Saga, having received a renewal quote that had incrreased by 25% I contacted Discount Insurance, they dealt with my requirements very efficiently and our home is now insured with Royal & Sun Alliance, this policy comes with slightly better cover and is about 30% less expensive than Sags. Discount Insurance 020 8847 8000.
  12. If Scutari Road was made "NO ENTRY" at the junction with Colyton Road, I believe this would stop Scutari, Mundania, Therapia and Marmora roads being used as a "Rat Run". Any comments.
  13. Telephoned Southwark Council on Thursday, street light not working, left message on answering machine, following Monday morning, street light repaired.Very surprised expected it to take a month, not a couple of days, well done again.
  14. I totally agree with Brian. What a total waste of money. As a resident of Therapia for over 40 years, I cannot recall a motor vehicle accident of any kind in Scutari, Therapia, Mundania or Marmora roads.Good ED Effers, please correct me if I am mistaken. I seem to remember a consultation document from the council a few years ago, asking residents views on speed humps in the aforementioned roads. In my reply I expressed the opinion that it would be a waste of the councils money and in fact the noise and thumps of vehicles negotiating the humps could probably damage adjacent properties, leading to insurance claims for underpinning to certain properties. This in turn could possibly lead to the insurers claiming against the council for installing speed humps, that caused the damage. Forest Hill Road may need speed humps. but certainly not Scutari or adjacent roads.
