There is no need to call me sir, I do not have a Knighthood.
  9. I am in a similar situation. Victorian property built around 1860, three flats, underpinned in 1992. I now have structural survey to send to brokers. Cost about ?400.00 but well worth the expense I have tried a number of brokers in the last few days and this broker has offered the lowest quote so far. Adrian Flux 0800 369 8590. Suggest giving them a call
  10. Lloyds Bank their advert, "The bank that's by your side". Not really, closing branches as fast as possible, to be further from your side as possible.

  16. I am confused, one end of Townley Road is at Lordship Lane, the other end is at East Dulwich Grove. It is not at East Dulwich Road, unless I am missing something.
  17. Many thanks for the information and suggestions. Fortunately saw driver who at my request moved the van.
  18. I am expecting a delivery later today, driveway is empty, however a large white furniture van is totally blocking the drive. There is not any activity occurring, either loading or unloading the van. It has been like this for over three hours. Who should I contact, any suggestions appreciated.
  19. Did not see the Shergar, Consort Road mentioned in the list of closed pubs.
  20. Phoned Gerry yesterday at about 3pm, had cistern that would not shut off the incoming water, not an emergency as the water overflow just ran into the pan.. Gerry agreed to call after 10am today, Saturday, he quickly diagnosed the problem and fitted a new ball valve, problem solved. Very nice guy, very helpful and all for a very fair price. Highly recommended.
  21. I had a similar problem in 2013, the meter was showing water use, but I knew that we were not using any water. I turned off the water where it entered the house by way of the stop-cock. Meter did not show any flow of water. It therefore showed the leak was internal. I was unable to find the leak any where in our flat. I contacted a company called ADI leak detection services located in High Wycombe 0800 731 3834,they use a sound detection system to locate the leak, which they did, underneath the tiled concrete floor in the kitchen. They suggested disconnecting the pipe from the boiler and running a new pipe at floor level along two walls, leaving the old pipe in place but not connected. Unfortunately very expensive ?735.60 including vat. But problem solved without digging up the kitchen floor. Incidentally I removed the skirting on both walls and we ran the new copper pipe at floor level placed the skirting on top of the pipe and painted pipe and skirting so it hardly shows. GOOD LUCK.
  22. Controlling pests yourself You can: only trap or kill permitted animals use permitted methods to kill animals only use poison to kill the pests it?s intended for - this will be written on the packaging only use traps that have been approved for use with the species you want to control - you must follow the instructions for use You can?t use the following control methods for any wildlife: self-locking snares bows and crossbows explosives (other than legal ammunition for a licensed firearm) live birds or animals, known as ?live decoys?, to attract pests (unless you have a licence) It?s an offence to keep or release some wild animals, eg grey squirrels - you must kill them humanely if you catch them alive.
