Piano teacher for children? Recommendations?
AnnieT replied to AnnieT's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Many thanks both for the recommendations. Will look into both options. :) -
Hi there, Wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a paino teacher for children? We are looking for a teacher to teach our 7 year old boy- preferably at our home in East Dulwich. We are looking for someone who can really engage with young children and can make learning the piano fun. Does anyone have any recommendations? Many thanks

Recommendation for a sleep trainer please!
AnnieT replied to AnnieT's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks all for the recommendation. can I ask, did you all go for the premium package or did you find the basic one sufficient? I guess much depends on the child's behaviour and your needs etc but still interesting to know. I'm thinking we can just do the basic... -
Hi there, We have given up with our soon to be 2 year old and would dearly love some professional advice on how to get her sleeping through. If anyone has any recommendations or knows anyone please let me know! Many thanks!

Hi all, Can someone tell me how much you can expect to pay for a nanny share for each family? Many thanks!
-
Hi all, We are in the process of revising our nanny contract to accommodate a family share, however it's so complex working out the tax. We are thinking it would be easier to ask her to become self employed and we pay her a gross salary instead of a net salary (and then pay her tax separately). Does anyone have a contract that is for a nanny share, in which the nanny is self employed, that they could share with us to use as a template? We would be so grateful! Many thanks

Hi all, Not sure if anyone has heard about this, but there are plans being discussed by Lambeth Council to turn Carnegie Library into a 'Healthy Living Centre'- ie. A gym. Obviously the council are being forced to make cuts but libraries are essential. Anyway, I won't rant but anyone who may be interested might want to sign this petition: http://moderngov.lambeth.gov.uk/mgEPetitionDisplay.aspx?id=379&TPID=27170282 Many thanks

Painter and Decorator, Brad, All-Round Renovation 07980 662 456

Another recommendation... Despite being very booked up brad still was able to squeeze us in. Great professional job for reasonable price. I've learnt from bitter experience it's always worth waiting for a good tradesmen and not rushing a job with some one who doesn't have the reputation! Thanks brad and team- love our newly painted front door! -

Hi there, Joining this conversation a bit late but have the same thoughts about expensive damp specialist jobs. We used kenwood at our last home and the damp returned and when we asked about it being sorted under the guarantee of course they had every reason to get out if it. It looks like we have rising damp just behind our front door. Assured preservations have quoted us ?600 to fix- by injecting chemicals and re-plastering but I'm wondering too if there is another way we can solve this and one that is much less expensive! Jpr finch or others, please let me know who you have used and if you would recommend them? Many thanks!

Hello all, Can anyone recommend a good doctors practice in east Dulwich? I was at Melbourne grove but didn't find the doctors very personable or friendly. I have recently changed to Dulwich medical centre and although the doctors are great, I have been really upset that are so booked up they weren't able to offer by 10 week old son his first vaccinations until 3 weeks after I called... Then they cancelled his appointment saying the nurse had a training day and the next time they could offer was two weeks later! Have to say I find this quite irresponsible given the time of year and age of the baby. Be good to know other peoples thoughts on this, and if you Can anyone recommend anywhere else? Many thanks

Hi there, Sorry bit random but my brother who lives in Brighton is needing some work done to his place. Does anyone know of a carpenter/ builder down there? They have recently moved down and there appears to be no forum like our good old ed forum! Many thanks in advance for any recommendations. Kind regards

Hi there, Does anyone know of any ideas you can do for a 2 year old party? I've looked at a soft play event in Gambada (Beckenham) but its ?15 per child which I think is quite expensive! Are there any pubs in East dulwich perhaps where you can hire a room? It would be easiest to have something at home but our flat just isn't big enough! Any thoughts appreciated! Many thanks, Annie

Hello all parents! Wonder if I can call on any advice... we are currently living on Milo Road though are needing to upsize and therefore move and are having to consider schools for the first time (primary). We are finding that it's pretty tricky to stay in the area, or at least in the catchment area of Dulwich village primary (which we are just in now). It seems that in order to go to an 'outstanding' school and afford a house, West Dulwich is the answer. However West Dulwich just doesn't seem as appealing as East Dulwich (though I hardly really know it). Do you think its worth 'sacrificing' East Dulwich for the sake of an 'outstanding' school? Is there much difference between a 'good' school and an 'outstanding' (primary) school? Any thoughts welcome! Thank you. Annie

Thanks all for the advice! :)

Hi there, We are looking to get a small tress for our front garden and have been the dulwich garden centre, which although great, doesn't have enough range. Does anyone know any pretty big garden centres that we can drive to? Don't mind them being up to an hour away - if they're good enough! Any recommendations would be very much appreciated! Thanks, Annie

Any suggestions for a nice plant / srub in front garden?
AnnieT replied to AnnieT's topic in The Lounge
Thanks all- much appreciated and defo need an evergreen of some sort! -
Hi there, Just wondering if any green fingered ED forum people out there have any tips for a good 'focal' plant or srub for our front garden? We were hoping to buy a lavender bush, but being no garden expert I hadn't realised they don't grow very tall. We are wanting something that not only provides some greenary but also gives a little bit of privacy in our front room - without blocking out too much light. we are ideally looking for a nice central plant, so were thinking of now having the lavender to go along the picket fence and may be some sort of small tree or plant. Any suggestions please send them through! Many thanks all, annie
