I have never wanted to complain about a local business before now, I usually shrug off bad customer service or non attentive style employees BUT dear lord I went in to WR the other day and got the most miserable unhelpful/rude woman/chick/lady/girl/biatch. Wont stop me going in there as I love the meat but she will not be serving me again! If they maybe concentrated on friendly instead of eye candy they would do better....

Lerryns is my favourite place to go for brunch (child free environment usually)! It has a great student type feel about it and my mate travels from lewisham each week for us to meet there! She reckons the lattes are the best and we both love the mash it ups. Anyway please sign this as it seems really unfair the garden can't be used during the day. Is this Renata's area?

Not sure how accurate that is as it shows Charter on my list and theres no way we would be in their catchment or do I know of anyone near me (goose gree/bellended are) The rest were Harris or Thomas the apostle in Nunhead....didn't show Sydenham Girls the school a lot of girls around here get into including my daughter! It does show how there is absolutely no choice for this area!

James - "But that would be selling out on the 250+ supporters of two Harris primary" Seriously James???? Signing a petition asking for a secondary school and a health centre ONLY on a small piece of land will not stop a primary school opening somewhere else...again parents did not sign up for 2. By your skewed logic this would mean we should have 3 secondaries based on 700+ signatures..... Pretty sure South London press are on it -

Hi verds, I moved my daughter at the beginning of year 1, I was stressed and worried but she was amazing loved being the "new" girl. School gave her a friend to help her find her way round (girls fighting to be the chosen helper), she had play dates within the week.... If anything it taught me how great kids are and resilient to what we throw at them. so relax she will be fine (and you will too!!)

New Charter School on Dulwich Hospital Site
mariababe replied to littlek1cker's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Think approx. 40 people in total so we are talking 20...hardly reflective of the community (how many of the 40 were charter parents or in the catchment already?) Fair admissions (banding) gives the wider area much more of a chance to get into the school, rather than buying into an area -

Listening to the repeat now and was wondering who the edjeet was saying he wanted segregation for his daughter so he sent her to haberdashers... Just unbelievable the crap that comes from his mouth (plus can never get away from the image of him being a cat on BB)

Lewisham banding system (and Harris)
mariababe replied to katgod's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Katgod, We applied for Sydenham schools and we are in southwark, we didn't sit any tests (apart from HABS) Sydenham girls uses year 5 results from your southwark school for the purposes of banding. If you want to know how far away the last place offered(by band and distance) by school please check this booklet out http://www.lewisham.gov.uk/myservices/education/schools/school-admission/applying-to-start-secondary-school/Documents/SecondarySchools201415.pdf from page 31 -

Sillwoman - I do get what your trying to say, but I think you need to understand what banding actually means For example- school has 4 bands - based on a test marked out of 100 (I stress its a basic example) Results out of 100 - band A - 80 - 100 band B - 60 - 80 band C - 40 - 60 band D - less than 40 So then its based on distance from school - each band has 25 places (total 100) Those in band D have up to 25 places just like the clever clogs in band A, this what makes it a fair admissions policy. If band D only have 25 applicants then they will all get a place regardless of address, if they have 26 or more then those closest to the school will get the places. Does this explain things? Its a very basic example of what banding means, but when places are over subscribed there has to be a cut off, that's when distance comes in. So when you say cream from band D, it doesn't make any sense as they are worst results. -
