  1. Brilliant, thanks for all the advice. Will have a read tonight....if I can find it!
  2. My worry is that because it was written by the estate agents that it'll say they have to stay on, and I have to keep paying, but this might not 'actually' be true....if you know what I'm saying?
  3. Hello all, I've been renting my property out for the past year under a management agreement with an estate agent. It's coming up for renewal as the year is up, but clearly, I don't want to pay the fees again because 1) they've done nothing over the past year to justify it, and 2) I don't need to find someone else to live there as the current resident is perfectly happy. So, how do I go about this? Do I just tell them that I am renting it privately from now on? Do I have to give them any notice to this effect? Can someone give me some advice please? Cheers Sean
  4. I went to one the other day called capital car boot in Pimlico - http://www.capitalcarboot.com/ Very good, got rid of lots of stuff and made a fair bit of cash too. Google it and I'm sure you'll find it.
  5. get your bike registered with the police, most bikes that get stolen are found a few miles down the road. the police have thousands in their lock ups which would've just been returned if they'd be registered.
  6. Just had my ikea kitchen installed about 2 weeks ago and we are very happy with it. One word of warning, the units go right to the back of the wall, they don't have any space behind for things such as pipes or cables, therefore your builder needs to cut out the back of them to make them fit usually (in old houses anyway). You'll be able to see the pipes when you open the units, it wasn't a big deal to us, but something to consider. The builders will tell you this themselves, but all the builders we got quotes from recommended Ikea kitchens. There are a few doors slightly out of line, but I think this is more to do with unstraight walls than the kitchen itself. We got a corian worktop fitted by a company in Leeds. We did research online and managed to get it for half the price we were being offered down here. I'd really recommend them as it looks great and was very reasonable. If you want details of builder and/or worktop people, just PM me.
  7. I'm a gooner, and feeling very chuffed indeed. Mainly because United dropped points again last night. Hopefully we can pick another 3 up tonight, and its game on for the rest of the season! Citeh's form is starting to worry me though, especially considering we've got them in a few days!
  8. I'm actually a little worried that Spurs will go further than us (Arsenal) this year in Europe, but to be honest, I don't really care about Europe this year. It's all about the Prem. As long as either Chelsea or Spurs don't win the bloody thing that is. Then I'd be gutted!
  9. ok, can I ask something about this show...they're actors right, and it's scripted. They're just lying to us by saying that its real right? Surely not...am I being thick and totally missing something here....
  10. can't believe no-one has said tiger yet? Surely got to be up there? I once saw a crocodile steal food (on a nature programme not in real life) from a pack of lions. They were feeding and it just walked right in and knicked it. All the lions circled it, tried to attack it, but the croc was having none of it. Eventually the lions buggered off. That's nails.
  11. Thanks for the advice everyone. I will be living in a flat in a house. There are only 2 flats in the building. I'll be interested to find out what the people below say, as I feel it needs a paint as well. Can't see that happening for a while though in the current climate!
  12. Hello, i'm just about to buy a property that is leasehold and the council is the freeholder. I'm not exactly sure of my rights, and what exactly I can expect the council to do for the property. One of the things that came back on the survey is that some repairs need to be made to the roof, can I expect the council to do this for me, and how do I go about making it happen? Can anyone offer some advice??
  13. just thought too, isn't there a social section on gumtree? Meeting like minded people new to an area? Might be worth a try?
  14. I think some people from this forum meet up every so often for drinks, does anyone have the details they could give to Sara? Also, I do BMF on Peckham Rye Park which seems pretty social. I've never been, but loads of the attendees go for drinks the first Wednesday of every month. I've always thought that if I was new to an area, into fitness, wanted to be a bit more social it would be a good way of meeting people and of course the obvious benefits of getting fit at the same time! And before anyone asks, no I don't work for them.
  15. Hello everyone, I very rarely comment on the notice board, but this instance has led me to. I'm very sympathetic to everyone that gets burgled. Its a horrible crime, and no-one deserves it, but what gets my goat more than anything is people harping on about things getting worse. Yes, you could say that these figures are scotched, but unfortunately, (and I am tarring people with a very big brush here) we're getting more and more scared because of how well informed we are nowadays. Things like this forum didn't exist 10 years ago, so before, none of us would have know about Concita's unfortunate occurance apart from if we knew her. The only way we would've known about it would've been through the papers. Would it have even made the papers? Unlikely...but now, because of our thirst of information and constant need for intellectual stimulation we search for more and more stories, making us more and more aware of whats going on in the local community. Therefore, the only thing we can truly go by is the police figures to give us an accurate reading of where things truly are. I think most people are very quick to report things to police, so I trust that they are accurate. Therefore, I would say ED, Peckham etc is safer than when I first moved here, not worse. I think we should all just calm down a bit. Also, what would you have James do? Go out in a Batman outfit??? Come on people. P.S. I don't know James, nor feel like I need to support him in anyway, its just the over re-action on this forum that has got me...crime happens in every city across the globe. Its horirble to hear about it, but ED really ain't that bad!
  16. Sorry if this has been asked before, but does anyone know when the road works will be finished on Peckham Rye Lane? They're bloody annoying and the disruption they're causing on the buses is a real pain in the a*s!
  17. Complain to the resident GP. They should do something about it.
  18. I might be interested in this too. Let me know how you get on!
