There are major redevelopment plans for the Aylesham Centre in the heart of Peckham. There are local concerns about their scale, nature and impact. Tiger Developments consulted on their plans during the August holidays and while many are still struggling with the impact of the Covid-19 crisis. The consultation was very inadequate. Local people are petitioning developers and the Council to collaborate on creating a meaningful consultation. * Please sign the petition here: http://change.org/PECKHAMVOICES * More information: https://www.ayleshamcommunityaction.co.uk

Buildbase is a flagship store for small businesses and DIY people and one of the few left in this part of London. The Council's borough plans are for redevelopment of the site on both sides of Blackpool Road. This would mean the end of that store there. The plans are coming up at the Public Hearings of the New Southwark Plan in the summer. If you have a view on the future of Blackpool Road or any other part of that area you will be welcome at the community meeting on Wednesday 4th March 7-8pm refreshments from 6.30pm at Peckham Palms in Bournemouth Close (between the Atwell Estate and Rye Lane, opposite Choumert Road). We will give an update on the plans and the Public hearings at the meeting, and gather views of those present that we can add to our collection of local views to present to the Inspectors at the Hearing. More info on the development plans are here: https://www.peckhamvision.org/wiki/Blackpool_Road

Our next Peckham Vision Community Open Studio is SATURDAY 14th MARCH. All are welcome to drop-in between midday-5pm. We are at 133 Rye Lane in the Bussey Building, yellow door, Stair C 2nd floor. Poster attached. We have an exhibition of our successful campaigns to recycle & reuse buildings - showing that self regenerating the local economy is better than demolishing and starting again. It is also a key part of reducing carbon emissions and thus climate change because the UK construction industry accounts for 60% of all materials used, while creating a third of all waste and generating 45% of all CO2 emissions. Do drop in to hear more about this and other local community actions we can take for sustainability. If you come do please post your comments on the EDF.

Peckham Vision http://www.peckhamvision.org has a lot of experience of how local action can affect what happens in our neighbourhood. We are keen to share this in conversation with others locally. Regularly we do that on Saturday afternoons in our small shop unit in Holdrons Arcade, and at summer events. Also we open our studio in the Bussey Building sometimes for this. One opportunity is this weekend. To anyone who is free in Peckham this weekend, Peckham Vision invite you to our Open Studio. Open from midday to 5pm, Saturday and Sunday, 7th & 8th December, next to the Pexmas market and the Bussey Winter fair in Copeland Gallery, Copeland Park. The entrance is through 133 Rye Lane. The studio is on 2nd floor on Stair C, yellow door in the Bussey passage. Come for a chat and find out about how community action saved the Bussey Building, Copeland Park, Peckham Multi-Storey and much more. Also how all this relates directly to the climate emergency. Post your comments here on any of these topics after your visit. It woud be good to see a discussion here.

An update on this: There is a follow up meeting on Thursday 23rd May 6-8pm in the Amott Road Baptist Church. Council Officers in charge of the CPZ proposal will be present to answer a number of questions we have collected that local residents have about the way the CPZ process operates. The aim is to clarify all ambiguities and find out how it works in practice and how that deals with the varied parking issues in the streets affected. A poster is attached. If you live in the streets covered by this CPZ and want to come to the meeting please register on eventbrite - https://www.eventbrite.com/e/peckham-west-cpz-tickets-62000096959 - so we have an idea how many are coming. That also gives you more info. If you are not on the mailing list for this please email [email protected] and give your street address and name.

Hi peckham_ryu Can you come to our community meeting to discuss the Council's recommendations for all day controls throughout 'Peckham West' CPZ. The meeting is on Saturday 4th May 2pm in Amott Road Baptist church hall (near Adys Rd end of Amott Road). It would be really helpful if we could hear from your experience in Chadwick Rd of the CPZ with just 2 hours restriction. Roads currently swamped with all day parking might be reassured that partial controls can work. peckham_ryu Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I have been converted from opposing CPZ in my > road, to being unexpectedly pleased with the > actual effect. The EDIBA presented a petition about the CPZ to the Council Assembly in March: http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/documents/s81366/Report%20Petition.pdf. I heard that there were many people there in support and that EDIBA people spoke to the Assembly. So they weren?t anonymous there. -

Hi - It was Cllr James McAsh who proposed the removal of Ondine Rd and East Dulwich Rd. Time was short by then and there was no discussion on this but hopefully James can explain here the reasoning in response to your question. I agree it raises new issues that need consideration. We will report this recommendation to the community meeting on Sat 4th May and see what also needs to be thought about and how it fits. -
Sinister anti-CPZ posters in shop windows
Eileen replied to Lowlander's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi Lowlander - your post seems to assume that the person doing the posters deliberately left off the details of the originator. I have been involved in producing community posters for many years and agree it is very important to always give the creator / contacts about the poster. Because I also think this is important, I notice when they are missing, but also that often it is more from an oversight or lack of awareness than from deliberate concealment. -

Hi Rockets - I have posted briefly on what happened later on the 'Peckham West' thread: /forum/read.php?5,2023271 To add to that, the ward Councillors agreed to recommend that the CPZ should not apply south of East Dulwich Grove, and be for 2 hours a day, not all day, and that Ondine Rd and East Dulwich Rd be removed from the Peckham West area. No further Dulwich CC meetings. But we have a residents organised meeting next Saturday 4 May 2-4pm Amott Rd Baptist Church to cover the whole of the Peckham West area, which is the streets between the Peckham town centre CPZ and the main roads East Dulwich Rd, Grove Vale and the railway line. For further info on that please email me at [email protected] -
Lynne Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I would have liked to have joined you, Eileen, but > couldn't get in Hi Lynne I couldn't get in either! They had a second meeting at 4pm-5pm repeating the CPZ presentation and Q/As. The first session was packed standing room only maybe up to 100. The second sitting almost all seats taken maybe up to 80. There was probably more heat than light. Poor forethought to have that room for such an issue. Mostly about East Dulwich but now at last an acknowledgment that part of 'Peckham West' is in Dulwich Community Council, and they allowed Goose Green residents, but not the rest of us, to speak. So no rounded discussion of Peckham West CPZ. However residents in the streets covered by Peckham West CPZ have our own residents' organised meeting next Saturday 4th May 2-4pm at Amott Road Baptist Church hall. There we aim to have a facilitated informed discussion, not a Q/A session with the Council. We are compiling a list of the issues and Qs we all have to ensure that we go through them one by one - get the facts and then enable us to make comments so that we can all benefit from a variety of thoughts and understand the different issues in different streets. So if you live in one of these streets please email me at [email protected] to give me your Qs or issues to be involved in the process. Hope you can come to our residents' meeting Lynne. Cllr Richard Livingstone, the Cabinet Member responsible, has accepted our invitation to attend. Ward Councillors for Goose Green and Rye Lane have been invited.

Local residents in streets covered by the proposed Peckham West CPZ will be attending the Dulwich Community Council meeting tomorrow Saturday 27th April 2.30pm Dulwich Library. The CPZ issues are on the agenda for 3.10pm. There is a break at 3pm - we hope we can identify those of us who have come for that item. If you are affected by these proposals, please come to link in with other local residents concerned about the recommendations. Please note that we have arranged a community public discussion about the Peckham West CPZ summary interim report for the following SATURDAY 4th MAY 2pm-4pm in Amott Road Baptist Church hall (off Adys Road). All affected by the recommendations are welcome to the meeting. Councillors for Goose Green ward and Rye Lane ward have been invited.

Posted by tmcoleman Yesterday, 12:57PM on this page: Goose Green councillors - how can we help? CPZ update and next steps /forum/read.php?5,1932267,page=12 I am copying this post below to show the kinds of questions being raised by the Peckham West CPZ report. Eileen --------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by tmcoleman Yesterday, 12:57PM Hi James I am in your GG ward but fall within the proposed Peckham West parking zone. You kindly emailed me back, sharing the PW consultation raw data for question 10 on times of operation. The questionnaire gave four choices: - All day (for example 8.30am to 6.30pm) - Part day (for example 10am to 2pm) - Two hours during the day (e.g 11am to 1pm) - Other (please specify) I?m confused by the conclusion drawn by the Council and disappointed that the complete data has not been publicly shared so have cut and pasted your email below: ************** The breakdown of responses is as follows: - All day: 34% - 12-2pm: 29% - Part of the day: 13% - Other: 17% - Did not answer: 7% Of those who answered ?Other?, there was a mixture of responses including - We do not want the parking zone - None at all - All day - Two hours or part day ************* My questions are: 1) Why have the combined responses for ?part day? and ?Two hours during the day? not been considered (as the Council did for the Denmark Hill CPZ!) and therefore a conclusion drawn that PW majority support ?less than full day?? 3) I see the previous Denmark Hill CPZ Report included the raw data with the recommendations. Please could you provide some rationale for the raw data having not been provided this time for both the ED and PW Reports?

In response to part of Aylwards post copied below ? The Dulwich Community Council covers the Dulwich wards which now includes Goose Green ward but not Rye Lane ward which is covered by the Peckham and Nunhead Community Council. So the area covered by the ?Peckham West? CPZ is a unified neighbourhood that is split between two wards and two Community Councils. The attached pdf shows the boundary. It makes sense to have a discussion about the Peckham West CPZ with residents on both sides of the boundary but the Dulwich Chair has said that residents on the Rye Lane ward side must visit Rye Lane ward councillor surgeries. Peckham Community Council had its last meeting before the summer on 3rd April and the CPZ report was not mentioned, and was issued later. Residents from both sides of the border are aiming to attend on Saturday 27th April at Dulwich Library and want to take part in the discussion. --------------------------------------------------------------- Posted by AylwardS April 18, 01:36PM extract: The Community Forum is on the Council website and the parking zones for West Peckham and East Dulwich Healthier streets are on the agenda for the Dulwich Community Council (rather than the Peckham one) Guess they could only have officers attend one if needed and the agenda item is for West Peckham and Dulwich Healthier Streets. The website has the community council / forum details in a couple of places as peterwlindsay said, so the OP may have missed these. There are also community councils for Peckham and Dulwich and the Council has put this under the Dulwich one - the area does cover both I believe.

Goose Green councillors - how can we help?
Eileen replied to jamesmcash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Dear Cllr James - This is what it says in the CPZ report: "A final report and an Individual Decision Making (IDM) report with final recommendations will be presented to the Cabinet Member for decision making. The IDM report will include feedback received from the Community Council and any representations to Council Assembly on 27 March 2019." Has this time schedule been overtaken? Which Council Assembly is it going to now? -
New Southwark Plan - Consultation until 17 May 2019
Eileen replied to AylwardS's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Here is some more info about the current New Southwark Plan (NSP) consultation which you might find of interest. The current consultation is on the several policies that have been amended since the last consultation a year ago on the ?submission? version. This is the version that is to be submitted to the Government for the 'Examination in Public? (EiP) later this year or early next year. If you comment on these they have to be in a particular form and then you can be invited to speak at the EiP. The Southwark Planning Network (SPN) http://www.peckhamvision.org/wiki/Southwark_Planning_Network , which links local action groups, is arranging some workshops and guidance on what to look for and how to make ?representations? this time round. Two major policies being amended are on housing, and on ?social regeneration? now renamed ?regeneration that works for all?: * The housing policy and amendments are aimed at meeting the needs for housing for all and not just about 20/30% as now. Informed assessment so far is that the housing policies will continue to fail to achieve this, while continuing to redevelop (ie demolish and rebuild) existing neighbourhoods creating over 60/70% ?unaffordable housing?. * The need for the new policy of ?social regeneration (hastily inserted at the last moment before the last consultation) and the need for its amendment already, is a recognition that regeneration has not been working for all. This new and amended policy is therefore a welcome attempt to go in a different direction but there are still serious doubts that these amendments will achieve it. In the meantime existing residents and neighbourhoods are being disrupted by the relentless regeneration policies across the borough which manifestly do not ?work for all?. If you want to take part in the discussion about all this at the EiP Public Hearings later this year/ early next year, you can do that by making ?representations? before 17 May. If you would like to be part of the discussion now at community action level, please email [email protected] to get on the mailing list. Connect even faster by coming to the public meeting Wed 20th March 6-9pm at the Old Mill Building. This is responding to one of the new policies which is creating a new Heritage Local List - see the post here about the Local List and the meeting: /forum/read.php?20,2013475 -
