I just saw it after I had posted Moo, I have slightly older children so the fencing is not as much of an issue, although I sympathise completely with parents for who this is an issue. Also agree with one forumer's comments about the mushrooms- what are they? No child can play on them?!

...on a badly designed childrens playground. We spent some time on Sunday at the new unfenced childrens play area at Peckham Rye One o'clock club. The children loved it, unfortunately the stream feature had overflowed creating a muddy wallow. This was due to essentially bad design- a low bridge which created a dam when it quickly became clogged with debris underneath, combined with inadequate hard landscaping along the banks. We walked past the play area on Monday and to my huge annoyance man with hat was examining the mud slick and then commenced to barricade it. Is this worth complaining about? Yes! Were no lessons learned from the redesign of Goose Green playground, which quickly turned into a Glastonbury type mudfest (loved by children, feared by parents)? Councillors! Recreational space planners/designers! There is no excuse, this is a complete waste of our money to now have to fix this, as you had to do with Goose Green. Local councillors I would be very interested to hear from you on this.

Hi Does anyone know if swim school starts tomorrow (Tuesday 4th) at Peckham Pulse? my daughter is due to go but I don't know if it starts this week or next- can't get through on the telephone and it doesn't have info on the website. Thanks!

Any age is tricky. We got rid of our daughters when she was around two and as she was learning to talk began asking for it during the day. A tip from a friend who got the tip from a nursery nurse worked for us. Cut a hole in the end of the teat by cutting straight across the end, you only need a small hole,if there is no reaction from him cut a larger hole. The idea is you aren't taking away the dummy, but it doesn't have the satisfaction anymore. Our daughter then rejected it in stages- putting up with it at first, then just holding it in her hand, then gradually forgetting it- it took about a month and was fairly trauma free! I didn't use a dummy with daughter number two exactly for the reason you stated- having to get up seven or eight times in the night to find it and put it back in again for daughter number one! Whatever you decide, good luck.

Hi I got them a few months ago in the Vale chemist which is the one near Sugar and the roundabout near Goose Green on Lordship Lane. They chemist is lovely in there (a bit like they used to be in Maceys before it changed!)

Babys are definitely all different, my first one took to the bottle easily, and I could never understand (and probably gave little sympathy to) friends who had problems introducing the bottle. Second child- hello complete bottle refuser! We had additional problems as my second daughter also had reflux, and tried everything including the playtex drop ins. In the end from the recommendation of a friend it was the MAM teats and strange bottles that won (they have a flatter rather than a round teat). You can also buy them from the Vale chemist- near the roundabout on lordship lane, goose green end. I cannot recommend highly enough! Your little one is very young though, so I would say try a couple of things and then hand over to hubby, your mum (anyone else!),and get them to persevere with one teat/bottle, it will happen!

I attended the open day on Monday. It was a really good opportunity to see the school, and the head teacher Ms. Marland was very receptive and informative in answering questions and offering parents the opportunity to speak to her or other staff outside of the visit. I felt the school had a great nurturing atmosphere, the children were very well behaved,and the facilities looked very good. The PTA session after the tour was also a great idea as it gave the opportunity to ask lots of questions to parents of children there, and get a further perspective. If Goose Green is one of your local schools I would say go along to one of the next open days to see the potential for yourself.

Hi Can anyone tell me where the venue (and what time) is for the Overview & Scrutiny Committee (OSC) meeting, which will be conducting the scrutiny on East Dulwich Primary Places proposed date 12th October? Is it an open forum (i.e. a question time type format?), or a closed meeting? Do you need an invite? Searched on the forum but can't seem to find this info. Thanks

It claimed many of the children there felt threatened or scared of other children, I spoke to a senior teacher there who reassured me that systems were in place to improve this, but likewise did not deny that this has been the case, if you had concerns regarding this wouldn't you be concerned about sending your child there?

Dear all, Just to let you know we have received our money back! - paid into my account on the 1st Oct. So it seems Sonia is trying to honour these debts. I know this is no consolation to those still waiting, but at least you know there are funds out there. Hope you all have a good result soon.

Hi all, I contacted the administrator and he will be sending some forms to add me to the list of creditors. During the conversation he said that there is in excess of ?200,000!! in creditors and this is rising. He also confirmed that the deposits were not held in a separate bank account and the account that does exist is overdrawn. He suggested that any legal action against the director (Sonia Adams) would be a waste of money as the company is liable. He will decide if there has been any impropriety of the former directors in running the company and make recommendations to the DTI regarding possible prosecution (or something like that - was fuming at the time!). It seems the only way we may see money back is if Sonia Adams pays this personally. As she is no longer returning calls this is becoming less likely. I was going to write to Sonia and ask her to honour this debt, I hope she is receptive. The only address I have was obtained for her is via Companies House for the new company set up (see earlier posts for details).

Hello, Is anyone else still waiting for their deposits? I was promised our refund by BACS (as the post was not reliable) on 23rd Sept and still no joy. Sonia Adams (Director) is now not returning my calls and the Forest Hill lot are distancing themselves from this situation. Is a former director of a company still liable for these deposits? Anyone know the legal footing? Please don?t send PM as this is my wife?s log in. Thanks

Hi Yorkie I know exactly what you are going through. My second daughter had silent reflux, and from eight weeks became a very fussy feeder, only feeding about 5 mins from one side, (and would not take the bottle until she was six months). I was told by 2 GP's and 3 HV's that she did not have reflux, eventually on advice of (the angel) Clare Kedves, we took her to A and E who told us she did have reflux, and that she was failing to thrive. At sixteen months she finally seems to be coming out of it, she is a cutie but small for her age! I would say first try Gavsicon (unfortunately we could not get it into our daughter however hard we tried). If this does not work insist on seeing a paediatrician, reflux can be exhausting and it sounds like you are doing a wonderful job, but even if your daughter is thriving, eventually you may not be! The team led by Dr. Ball at Kings are wonderful and caring and take into account how this affects you as well as the baby (which I think sometimes GP's do not). Do not be afraid to go down the 'drugs' route, unfortunately our daughter ended up on Omneprazol (liquid form of Zantac), Ranitidine and Don Peridone(?- sorry get this last one mixed up with a similar sounding champagne)but it got us all through. My daughter voluntarily slept on her stomach from three months of age, and (possibly being a second child), I let her (apparently we all did when we were babies anyway), of course a personal choice, but it seemed she prefered this position. She will get over it, but it is very hard work so be kind to yourself, just talking about it can really help.

Hi Toast I joined the facebook page today. We have to apply for Jan 2010 intake and I feel if we leave it up to the councillors things will not move quickly enough. Is there an actual action group of parents who are actively campaigning? We really need this to be a national story and 'go to the top'. I am a typical 'Londoner'- working class northerner who got a degree and moved to London to get a decent job and a better life- only to find that I am now failing my child by potentially sending her to a failing school (while the small rural school I went to has a glowing report). Sorry I digress but I feel very strongly about this situation. Please let me know if there is an active action group of parents and if so what I and other parents can do to help now. Thank you.
