  1. I find that people only recognised me when I'm with my dog. I say hello and even exchange a few words with people on a regular basis. When I don't have my dog with me, they look at me as if I'm mad. I think dog people must only see people who are 1-2 feet tall!
  2. We love Koz, the new-ish Mediterranean restaurant where the Tex-Mex used to be. The food is superfresh and the staff greet us like long-long friends. It's also incredibly reasonable for any cost-conscious dinners.
  3. If you have concerns about this application, you might find it useful to know the basis on which planning officers make their decision. We are just in correspondence with them over how they decided to grant an application on Barry Road and they take into account various issues that are not obvious from the documentation supplied to us.
  4. Does anyone know anything about the resurfacing works that have just started outside my house on Barry Road? E.g. how long they are likely to be drilling tonight? I know these works need to be done, but at this time of night during the week? And does anyone know who makes these decisions? It would have been nice to have some warning. Yours grumpily, etc....
  5. Not sure who is famouser: the man from the Uncle Ben's rice advert (often in the Blue Mountain) or the dad from the BT adverts (walks past my house). I can hardly contain my excitement...!
  6. Having had subsidence because of the lime tree outside our house, we're pleased that the council pollards the tree very 3-4 years. It soons recovers and keeps growth under control. We have a lime tree at the bottom of our garden which has caused subsidence to the property at the back. We have been told by their insurers to keep the tree growth under control otherwise we will be responsible for any further damage to that house. Maybe the council has similar responsibilities?
  7. Went in today and was surprised that there were no tables and chairs outside. Apparently, someone has complained about the "noise". Seems a bit odd after the cafe has been doing business for 20 years, maybe someone new moving in? Does anyone know anything?
  8. I think the ticket machine at Peckham Rye does do top-up because I noticed the swipe pad the other day. Still that will only make the queues even longer at the ticket machine at busy times....
  9. I'm curious to know why all trains arriving on platform 1 at Peckham Rye have to pull in so far away from the stairs? I'm guessing it's something to do with the signals the driver sees. It is a particular problem in the evening when there is a bottleneck with so many people getting on and off. If the carriages stopped where there was space on the platform rather than by the waiting room, you have much quicker loading and unloading times. It cannot possibly be safe having the guards blowing the whistle and the doors shutting when people are still trying to get on.
  10. Funnily enough, when I moved into the area and went through Peckham, I took one look at the library, thought it a horrible 1960s monstrosity and wondered when they were going to pull it down... Imagine my dismay when I discovered it had only just been built!
  11. That would be great, James. I fully support the call for lights in Upland Road as I walk down there two or three times a day from Barry Road to Lordship Lane.
  12. Would you need the lawyer to work for free? I do know a barrister who may be able to help - she's not local and she's already on quite a large enquiry so not sure if she'd have time, but if you don't ask, you don't get... Paula McMullan
