  1. Could do football at JAGS, 9 tp 3.30, very welcoming and you can just drop in
  2. Bobby, what sort of bike have you got that gets you to West Wickham in twenty minutes?
  3. Thanks for that advice Campbellchris. We don't currently have netflix on downstairs tv. When we first went with Talktalk they were pretty terrible, but up until recently the service has been fine. i guess I am concerned with putting it all together - when I buy the big wall mount, presumably I will need an aerial guy to come and run a cable to new location, then after chaining internet provider, get someone else in to set everything up. My kids say it is easy, but they don't seem to be volunteering to do any of the work!
  4. Hi Folks, Not sure if this is exactly right place, but looking for some advice on buying TV and internet services. We want to turn our spare room into a teenage boy friendly study, with a large wall mounted TV that they can play games on via PC. And we would like to be able to use it in the evenings, to stream movies from Netflix. At the moment, we have a talk talk contract which has been ok, until our son bought a "game player" of a PC and it is as though it have used up all the WIFI capability in the house. So, I am wondering if we need one of those fancy BT boxes you see advertised on TV? Now what do we do next? is there someone we can contact who can put all of this together for us, or do I go to Currys, and buy the TV, then find a contractor to fit it on the wall, then find a new internet service provider and then panic when nothing works? Any advice gratefully received. John
  5. Kens for me, but many like the whole Olleys experience in herne hill
  6. West is posher (but you probably don't want to hear that).
  7. Or go out via South Circ and Chislehurst to North Downs (crockenhill, eyensford, otford ) and train back to denmark hill from Sevenoaks or otford. Nice 25 miles, lots of hills if you wish.
  8. Here's hoping the staff get paid a living wage unlike the Ritzy
  9. Much much cheaper if you go over the border into Spain
  10. "The slow death of Irish England" to paraphrase. Time was when every single pub in London could be described as Irish.
  11. Pam, I had reason to call the MRI today. To cut a long story short, I was disappointed at reception staff who refused to tell me how long I would wait for a scan and couldn't tell me what the targets or expectations were. I looked on website and no sign of how long patients should expect to wait. I I don't think this lack of information would be acceptable n other areas of public life.
  12. Er, I think you'll find for most people Peckham is posher than ED
  13. The borough is irrelevant when choosing schools - you just need to meet criteria (usually proximity)
  14. Correct, jim Callaghan lived on Carver Rd for a few months after he was sacked as Chancellor and had to move out of number 11. This thread just gets better.
  15. Great thread this much better than all the house price stuff. PS: which former Prime minister lived in Herne Hill?
  16. Cheers thanks for that
  17. I have one arsenal supporting son and another who supports liverpool. Where would be a good place to watch the match tomorrow? Used to go to the Half Moon before the flood.
  18. Look at their gcse results. All schools are measured on number of kids getting 5 a*- c grades. It's a rough measure, also useful to look at how many of their gcse's are at grade A or A*
  19. But not cheaper than Wetherspoons! Long may the Fox on th Hill prosper
  20. I am sure if you contact southwark (assuming you live in the borough) they will be able to direct you to schools with spaces. Competition between schools has driven performance up in all local schools
  21. St saviour's & St Olave's Girls (top of Old Kent Rd) got 78%. (And 55% A*-B at A level)
  22. We went to noja on north coast with venue holidays - fly to either Bilbao or Santander (or do ferry if you have time). Can't recommend it highly enough. It's warm but not blistering and very green (with it being the Costa Verde). Worked out cheaper than going direct to site for some reason
  23. Youth hostels - lots of em at the yha website
  24. Hi new school mom, I'm an old school teacher and I don't know why either (Tescos will be open that s for sure)
