  1. If your instincts are telling you it was wrong then it probably was. Think you owe it to others to report it to police not just on here.
  2. Has anyone managed to find the point from which distance is measured for Charter North Dulwich? Charter East Dulwich lists its "nodal point" as Jarvis Road which is at least a helpful guide. Charter North though has two possible entrance points and the school itself is set back from the road, and with the ridiculously small distances we're talking it could make a crucial difference.
  3. Pre-Lockdown me and my wife cycled to City area from Peckham every day by bike whatever the weather. Takes abut 30mins door to door. I personally wouldn't bother with public transport unless you have to use it for some reason.
  4. Just had Julian round to do a gutter repair. He turned up when he said he would, was very pleasant to deal with, explained what he was doing and why and it was bang on the quote. Obviously can't vouch for the longevity of the work yet but he said he'd be round in a day or two to check it was ok and his work is guaranteed for a year too.
  5. I have been cycling in front because the kids don?t take directions well and I?m concerned about cars coming across their path and knocking into them. However, I?ll now always ride behind them as I hadn?t realised that was the accepted/safest place. It wasn?t common sense to me at least. You may be right about the son being mislaid.
  6. Some good advice but was the mention of the "mother who lost her son once" really necessary?
  7. we went to Greenwich on Tuesday evening last week around 6.30pm and queued for 20mins to get in all smooth inside they were serving from the snack bar kind of place (main restaurant was closed) although didn't see what food they were serving
  8. timely Guardian article: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jun/10/closure-of-public-toilets-causing-anxiety-distress-and-frustration-across-uk?CMP=share_btn_tw
  9. trolls - just like foxes - shouldn't be fed ;-)
  10. Oddono's is open? Excellent. Didn't note down their opening hours by any chance?
  11. I stand corrected It's very nice either way In fact that street has some other real gems: FM Mangal; the cheapo Shawarma wrap place; and the amazing Nandine.
  12. ^I don't like Wagamama either Dragon Castle on top end of Walworth Road was also ok for Dim Sum although haven't been there for ages. Are there many great Chinese places though outside of central London? IME they all tend to be generically bland and aimed at British palates. Some good vietnamese places here and there though
  13. +1 to Silk Road (Uighar restaurant I think) and there's also Wuli Wuli further along towards Camberwell Green which do some OK Szechuan (proper spicy) food There's also an OK dim sum place on Old Kent Road called Hong Kong City
  14. ^Strange isn't it? It's almost as if the closure of Champion Hill (in one direction) isn't responsible for the mass gridlock that we can no longer see...
  15. ^That's not fair - you just waited until there was a convenient break in the gridlock!
  16. I agree the signage needs improving. It should be made clear it's now effectively a dead end one-way. "No access to Denmark Hill" isn't enough IMO. I read this thread prior to it coming into force and it still caught me out the first day I tried it! However I personally think it's a positive move and would like to see more residential roads made more pleasant for the people that live there by reducing through traffic. And yes I own a car and drive.
  17. Can check if a vehicle is taxed here: https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax
  18. Potentially interested depending on time and place
  19. Another recommendation for Steve. Quick efficient and friendly.
  20. ------------------------------------------------------- > Yes the ban was on for us. We used a gas stove > for ?10 from amazon. It was great. The toilets > were compost loos. They were always clean, > regular loo shape with toilet roll provided. Thanks. I wonder why they banned campfires especially as it's seems such a big selling point for the site. We're going to the Secret Campsite next week and there's no ban there. Although they have asked us to be careful. @smedavies There's plenty of good walking along the South Downs if you camp near there (Lewes/Burgess Hill). But not so big on forests. We've stayed at WoWo before (Wapsbourne Manor) which is great for families and has some walks too.
  21. ^ Looks an interesting place. Did they have the open fire ban in place while you were there? What did people do instead? The website doesn't say what kind of toilets they have (important for my kids...) is it just the compost-type?
  22. We went for a look on Sunday: The park has some issues for younger children (under 5s) and is unfinished in large areas. The big slides shoot kids out really fast - and there are some deep drops to the sides of stairs and steps. I just about caught my 4 year old as she shot out of one of the tube slides. Had I not she would have grazed off some skin on the flooring. The bit with the spider's web isn't suitable for children under about 1.5m in height - and there were lots of tears from kids who couldn't reach to the final rope section to make it onto the raised walkway. Also the spider's web doesn't appear to connect properly with the other rope section so kids can't climb from one to the other. The water flow was quite weak in the wet area and one of the water "shooters" didn't work. The one that did was great fun though. The trampoline bit is good and there were some older kids doing some impressive backflips on it. Overall much better than what's been there in the past. I'm guessing it was way behind schedule and that combined with very dry hot weather has made the landscaping impossible to finish. Am glad they opened it 70% finished though rather than wait until it was complete. However you do need to keep an eye on younger kids or they may hurt themselves.
  23. I forgot about the boundary changes. Many thanks.
  24. Renata, do you know why Thomas Calton centre is no longer being used as a Polling Station and Bellenden School (new site) is being used instead? Parents were given VERY short notice that Bellenden is completely closed on Thursday. I appreciate the lack of notice may be due to the school rather than the Electoral Commission. Thanks
  25. Can you not post the picture from CCTV?
