  1. timely Guardian article: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jun/10/closure-of-public-toilets-causing-anxiety-distress-and-frustration-across-uk?CMP=share_btn_tw
  2. trolls - just like foxes - shouldn't be fed ;-)
  3. Oddono's is open? Excellent. Didn't note down their opening hours by any chance?
  4. I stand corrected It's very nice either way In fact that street has some other real gems: FM Mangal; the cheapo Shawarma wrap place; and the amazing Nandine.
  5. ^I don't like Wagamama either Dragon Castle on top end of Walworth Road was also ok for Dim Sum although haven't been there for ages. Are there many great Chinese places though outside of central London? IME they all tend to be generically bland and aimed at British palates. Some good vietnamese places here and there though
  6. +1 to Silk Road (Uighar restaurant I think) and there's also Wuli Wuli further along towards Camberwell Green which do some OK Szechuan (proper spicy) food There's also an OK dim sum place on Old Kent Road called Hong Kong City
  7. ^Strange isn't it? It's almost as if the closure of Champion Hill (in one direction) isn't responsible for the mass gridlock that we can no longer see...
  8. ^That's not fair - you just waited until there was a convenient break in the gridlock!
  9. I agree the signage needs improving. It should be made clear it's now effectively a dead end one-way. "No access to Denmark Hill" isn't enough IMO. I read this thread prior to it coming into force and it still caught me out the first day I tried it! However I personally think it's a positive move and would like to see more residential roads made more pleasant for the people that live there by reducing through traffic. And yes I own a car and drive.
  10. Can check if a vehicle is taxed here: https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax
  11. Potentially interested depending on time and place
  12. Another recommendation for Steve. Quick efficient and friendly.
  13. ------------------------------------------------------- > Yes the ban was on for us. We used a gas stove > for ?10 from amazon. It was great. The toilets > were compost loos. They were always clean, > regular loo shape with toilet roll provided. Thanks. I wonder why they banned campfires especially as it's seems such a big selling point for the site. We're going to the Secret Campsite next week and there's no ban there. Although they have asked us to be careful. @smedavies There's plenty of good walking along the South Downs if you camp near there (Lewes/Burgess Hill). But not so big on forests. We've stayed at WoWo before (Wapsbourne Manor) which is great for families and has some walks too.
  14. ^ Looks an interesting place. Did they have the open fire ban in place while you were there? What did people do instead? The website doesn't say what kind of toilets they have (important for my kids...) is it just the compost-type?
  15. We went for a look on Sunday: The park has some issues for younger children (under 5s) and is unfinished in large areas. The big slides shoot kids out really fast - and there are some deep drops to the sides of stairs and steps. I just about caught my 4 year old as she shot out of one of the tube slides. Had I not she would have grazed off some skin on the flooring. The bit with the spider's web isn't suitable for children under about 1.5m in height - and there were lots of tears from kids who couldn't reach to the final rope section to make it onto the raised walkway. Also the spider's web doesn't appear to connect properly with the other rope section so kids can't climb from one to the other. The water flow was quite weak in the wet area and one of the water "shooters" didn't work. The one that did was great fun though. The trampoline bit is good and there were some older kids doing some impressive backflips on it. Overall much better than what's been there in the past. I'm guessing it was way behind schedule and that combined with very dry hot weather has made the landscaping impossible to finish. Am glad they opened it 70% finished though rather than wait until it was complete. However you do need to keep an eye on younger kids or they may hurt themselves.
  16. I forgot about the boundary changes. Many thanks.
  17. Renata, do you know why Thomas Calton centre is no longer being used as a Polling Station and Bellenden School (new site) is being used instead? Parents were given VERY short notice that Bellenden is completely closed on Thursday. I appreciate the lack of notice may be due to the school rather than the Electoral Commission. Thanks
  18. Can you not post the picture from CCTV?
  19. You didn't mention "road tax"
  20. It seems you need to know where they are usually parked to report untaxed vehicles anonymously to the DVLA: https://www.gov.uk/report-untaxed-vehicle unless someone knows different?
  21. Oh dear - it would appear that the car is neither taxed nor insured....
  22. An Audi driver? Who would have thought... You should report them here: https://www.met.police.uk/report/report-a-road-traffic-incident/ That could have been you / your child / someone you know
  23. Worth checking if there are any CCTV cameras (on shops or homes) nearby which may have filmed the vehicle if you need further evidence. Some may be wiped after 24hrs though Hope you're not badly hurt
  24. Another positive review for Steve. He repaired our washer dryer yesterday. Wasn't urgent so we arranged it to be fixed a few days later. He's quick, reliable, friendly and communicates! Wish every trader was like him.
  25. If you do call police you must tell them that you "think" you saw them armed with a knife and that you "think" they threatened to kill you. Otherwise they won't do owt. Welcome to the 'hood.
