My central heating does this very faintly when switched on. When switched off there is total silence. could this be what is happening?

Greetings all. I am new to this forum, and I am most likely to be using it to try to get small building jobs done. Hundreds of them, but not all at once. And some gardening. I tried to create an account using the X link offered because I thoroughly resent the way Google tries to own us all, and as far as I can make out obstructs anyone who wants to act independently. It didn't work of course. So I have been forced to use Google. If anyone knows a way round this I would love to know.
