  3. Not done, got three clues staring at me. Eeeh gads that was easy, can't believe i couldn't get it. I just kept seeing Penge_ and it interrupted my thought flow. Do you know I've never sent it in. I've sent a few cut out snippets a colemanball and a Dumb Britain that got included, but never a crossword submission.
  4. Incidentally, in the light of Le Carre being all trendy again, I'm rereading A Perfect Spy, I think his best book.
  5. If you've ever considered getting into sci-fi /fantasy or horror but don't know where to start (or are afraid to ask you saddo!!) then this handy flow chart might help http://www.box.net/shared/static/a6omcl2la0ivlxsn3o8m.jpg http://flowingdata.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Books-partial-954x624.png

  10. I love these hand drawn maps of london. Londonist have a thing for them and I think there's a group on flickr that does them too. I'll keep an eye out for more, there are some terrific ones around http://d4k7s9ho8qact.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/secretgardens-689x500.png?9d7bd4 full size image
  11. Gah, that's tomorrow isn't it. May try and make it to that, I reckon the mocklet will love it!
  12. I've been to Hoopers' early games. There have only been about 20-25 people there, but what you give up in atmosphere you make up in comfort and not having to wait long for an admittedly damn fine breakfast!
  13. "wars" worse, worse. I can honestly say that wasn't an intentional freudian slip
  14. Harriet's problems are far wars than her likeability. Rampant self interest over integrity, and dubious morals spring to mind.
  15. I quite like flint too, though can't help wondering if it's all down to those sexy photos.
  16. Half man half biscuit's ninth was their best, the wonderful Trouble Over Bridgewater
  17. Mark, I understood things weren't going well there, but it's a real shame to hear it's over and the toll it's taken. I'll happily get you a pint if you need someone to sound off at, and hope to see you round and bouncing back soon. All the best Piers
  18. Ooooh, terrible cross post timing. Well done that man!!!
  19. nope. I'll give you the letters I had _ _ _ _ _ _ K _
  20. Had to share this one, a PE classic! Throw up with hair balls (8)
  21. Have I shared this link with people. Super gigapixel photo montage taken from the shard. Pretty amazing http://www.willpearson.co.uk/high_resolution/shard-london-bridge-night-panorama/
  22. ...and apologies for mixing my metaphors. Unforgivable.
  23. How about they spent the ?55k gathering up all the column inches devoted to this tedious non-story and making a jolly big bonfire with it. Or let's just burn the money, then I can have my feckin bonfire without it being a political hot potato everyone is using to their own nefarious ends. And yes James I'm looking at you!!
  24. "You have just reminded me that my mum made me go to a fancy dress party when I was about 5 dressed as... a poacher. I have no idea what the inspiration for this was. I had a beard drawn on and sack-cloth up my legs, and she took the clothes off my cuddly toy rabbit family, tied them all together by their legs with string round their ankles, tied the strung up toy rabbits to a pole and made me carry that round all afternoon. The other girls were mostly Dorothy, Princess etc." That's genius!!!!
  25. I only found two vague references. one from the mirror says hundreds of schools are banning red ink http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2008/12/27/teachers-banned-from-using-red-ink-because-it-upsets-pupils-115875-20997583/ One from the beeb found one primary school that was doing so http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/2688623.stm Can find nothing about crosses not being used. ANd quite SJ, see also solutioneer, going forward and any use of bandwidth that doesn't pertain to electronic data provision.
