anyone played this yet http://braid-game.com/ lovely game. Taking elements of other games, visuals of yoshis island, that one with the reversing time trick and flashback/oddworld etc, and created a beautiful thing that may not be quite ICO territory, but definitely close to that gaming as art area.

Me neither Keef, this however...

I'm guessing from those that the rumours are true ;-) Plus, mine was funnier ;-P

Indeed, the main issue was that he had a few years left on those wages, so I guess it was a case of feel the pain now. I always thought he was an excellent committed player, but he was a very inadvisable buy for us at a ridiculous wage. Still best of luck to the fella, not that he needs it.

"Freddie Ljungberg to leave hammers and possibly retire from football at the age of 31" For six million squid to be bought of his ?85k a week contract for having done next to nothing. Ouch. I can't really blame him I guess, but players (and their agents) really are bleeding the game dry aren't they. No wonder only the really big clubs can compete.

How the hell do they get out of the fishtank?

Definitely have a word, it doesn't have to be confrontational. Obviously they should have enough respect and common courtesy to behave better anyway, but as that isn't the case, just politely make what you expect clear. If they can't then sling 'em oot. I had a houseguest girlfriend of flatmate) who stayed "while she was looking for a new place" and stayed for three years, and I HATED her with a passion. Made me genuinely miserable for the whole period. Nip it in the bud is definitely my advice!!!!

I think you may be conflating unwise investments and unethical investments (though in fairness the big banks were generally doing both, it wasn't really the latter that were their undoing), but I have to say I like the concept of a cooperative bank if the gains accrued from my investments eventually come back to me rather than some shareholder('s nose). I bet you in order to be competitive they still hire city boys and offer bonuses that doubtless often end up their noses though...it's just the way of things.

LOL!!! and for sure extinct civilisation is no excuse, the locals are just undergoing an extended period of underperforming organisational structural renewal.

ELL extension 1 (crystal palace) is all guns blazing and should be finished by 2010(?) ELL 2 (denmark hill) was given the go ahead, then funding was pulled, so it's in limbo at the moment. Which is kind of weird as most of it is done on existing track.

On a night out with a couple of colleagues in Amsterdam we happened upon a bar with loads of cute women having seemingly enormous amounts of fun. we were a bit booze addled to make the obvious conclusions to be drawn from the homogeneity of the client?le. So we pop in and order at the bar. The lady tells us in no uncertain terms that we're not welcome and finally the penny drops, so to speak. I looked at her with tear filled puppy dog eyes and said 'but you have to serve us, my mum's a lesbian'. Poor girl looked so confused it was g&ts all round. We didn't stay long, even the smell of testosterone was clearly making some people uncomfortable...it did look lots of fun though... *edited for grocers apostrophe*

I don't think he was iftted up, I think the police lent too much credence to their hunches and exaggerated the importance of one piece of evidence while compiling a large amount of very dubious and circumstantial evidence. I think the CPS may have allowed it to at least go to court, where in another case, less in the media glare, they might not have been so inclined. Then, once in the courts I think it was subject to the same rigour of any case where someone's long term freedom is involved. I honestly don't think the judiciary acted like a law unto themselves, and he was offered the same level of defence that thankfully we all are entitled to. I don't think there was corruption, you seem to be hinting that the defence may have colluded in his conviction and I don't know where you're getting that from. Far too much weight was given to that microscopic gunpowder fragment, with which the prosecution persuaded the jury of his guilt. Once this type of evidence was deemed inadmissible in court, the rest of the case was so weak it was only a matter of time before he would be freed. It is depressing that it took almost 2 years for this to come to pass, but institutional inertia seems to be a fact of life in most places, not just the judiciary, which I'd rather acted in a measured way rather than knee jerk if anything does. Like I say, it's far from perfect, and there is always room for improvement, but I do think it's a good system on the whole, and better educated, trained and less corrupt than most comparable systems around. Would you rather a system where the blatantly guilty get off because of their wealth and/or celebrity, then go on to write a book called, "I done her good and proper, now where's me small glove?" or something?
-
"Would you trust this same group of judiciary, with nine years or more of your life? You wouldn't, thats tough because we have no choice, there is no option, when you are in the hands of the judiciary, your freedom is in their hands." And your argument is SteveT, I've no idea where you're going with this. There should be no judicial system. Despite the fact that it's a human system, it should be perfect, you've found a higher and better arbiter? Please share this with us.

The problem with most IT Development managers is they can't get to grips with the fact that the whole department is usually cleverer than them, clearer about themselves, their careers, their motivation, and usually the project than they are. Their value is almost entirely as a metronome to keep everybody on the right track in terms of delivery and as a buffer between them and the whoever keeps promising the moon on a stick to the client/business. Objective setting, team building, developmental (unless it's cold hard training) and mentoring is only so much meh generally. Although the performance monitoring and in extremis firing (usually for gross misconduct or industrial espionage) is as relevant as ever. I should add that in 10 years of IT development I've worked with 2 good managers, half a dozen indifferent ones, and more bad ones than I care to think about. Oh and biz speak, cuddly or otherwise, makes me want to throttle someone. "take this outside your box, and shove it were the blue sky won't...errr...shine?"

That's a point, just what is this reference to "Judean people's republic", wasn't it a front? As far as google is concerned at any rate, the reference is entirely circular.
