That's the fella. Right, I'm off to get the new Jenny Lewis album...
-
Just cannot stand anthems like Hey Jude and Let it Be anyway, have always hated them, ditto Coldplay (though I've still a bit of time for the first album, before they became photographer bopping egomaniacs...well, I say 'they').

Was it ever thus with the boards undermining managers and this just happens to be a spate (keegan, curbs and ramos) or is this yet another new trend turning our beautiful game uglier by degrees?

The FSA have as sharp a teeth as the government allows them, and this government have indulged the city by leaning on the teeth to have blind eyes...or something. The likes of Gordon Brown, Northern Rock et al have been far too optimistic that the good times will roll on, and of course they never do. But noone seems to have sufficiently planned for that. Hedging is not saving after all is it. I liked Hislop on Question Time the other night, pointing out that Northern Rock and Halifax used to be building societies, and their bespectacled model of lending what you had may have been boring but at least it was safe. Then said that a couple of years ago Lloyds were being criticised for playing it too safe and falling behind their competitors; but who had to bail out HBOS...?

Ashton and Bellamy out for a month. I really like Ashton, he's a class act, but soo injury prone. And as for injury prone nutcase Bellamy...why oh why?!?!?! Sears and Cole then, hmmmm, oh dear.

ha ha, brilliant. What he means he objects to not being paid enough I'm guessing.

Who knows if it wasn't for frog chorus we may never had Crazy Frog. Oh wait, good things huh? Nope, can't think...okay, Live and Let Die at a pinch. But even there, it lacked oomf; covers have subsequently unearthed the rich vein of rawness and anxiety within. It does come across a bit War of the Worlds at times, and that dreadful reggae break, what's that all about?

Just to translate: A call is the right to buy a commodity or instrument (gold or a share) at a price in the future A put is the right to sell. It's done to mitigate risk obviously and can be a genuinely useful thing. Of course people then trade these things. The deltas discussed are the change in the value of the derivative (derived instrument such as a call or put) as a result of a change to the spot (cash value if sold now) of the underlying (the gold or the share that the the derivative gives you the right to buy/sell). To hedge is another risk mitigation that's something akin to betting on the horses in a race such that you'll end up exactly where you started regardless of the result, except that you think one of the horses has better odds than it should, and you hope that one wins, but no bother if it doesn't...very roughly. Just thought I'd demystify the garbled nonsense above for anyone interested. It does get a whole load more complicated than that obviously but then that's what gives rise to lots of clever structured instruments that compleeeeetley mitigate the risk that comes with selling expensive mortgages to poor people, honest guv ;)

That's a bit harsh their young man! Should that of been I wonder how many people were paid then? ;-)
-
I wonder how much people were paid to come up with a list of the bleedin pointless. I noticed 'alcoholic' was missing from that list.

Aah, but late at night you sometimes have to flag down a cab, ask how much to the top of the hill, no really mate top of the hill, look I'm pointing at it, 4 quid, are you having a f*****g giraffe? Go on, 2 quid, really, 4? I could have made it by now, I know, oh go on then.

I went, and it's fine. I thought the staff were nice, even quite fancied one of them *gasp*, but it's just, flock flipping wallpaper and low-hanging retro lamps, it's like making a stark chrome and pine bar circa 2001, 10 years after it seemed like a good idea. OK, flock's only dominated for the last 6 or 7, but come on, at least try something original. Maybe lots of bric-a-brac stuck to the walls and ceiling, it may still be sh!t, but it's almost retro by now n'est ce pas? As Mrs Mockney can testify, they've plenty of teething troubles, having over-charged us (pence rather than pounds) twice in a row, and one of the barmaids (the cute one as it goes) got a bit snotty at her. But then she pulled a sort of 'do you know who we are, we're from the forum you know' and I was so mortified I had to apologise profusely to the manager. Long story short, it's nice and enough and I'll be enjoying more pints there, it's just we always seem to go to the Mag. How about the never before visited Fox-on-the-hill or Phoenix or even Oriwisu Spot, huh, HUH?!

I've no issue with folding a bad hand, or even falling like a house of cards, just why would you go about folding a pack of them?! Except when you keep losing and you want to spoil everyone's fun. I've done the same with monopoly boards in the past, that's for sure.
-
Is today national mixed metaphor day or something, first folding packs, now people on high horses shooting their feet? Have you tried doing anything on on any sort of horse, jeez, I find holding on for dear life hard enough?

*opens door to hot steamy jungle* *listens to the barks of the howler monkeys and chirrups of the crickets and allows the thick air to circulate around the room, barely stirring the traces of guano encrusted owl-down in the unhoovered corners of the room* *sits glumly, tries not to think about work* *quietly sobs*

When did lloyds fold like a pack of cards again? I'm afraid that without the insurance business your holiday rum stolen by Miami airport baggage handlers ain't getting replaced, noone would risk shipping all that precious oil, gas and food to Britain and you couldn't legally drive your car and absolutely noone could fly stranded XL passengers home, so not sure why the thought of AIG going tits up or lloyds 'folding' would be so welcome. Plus, if you fold your cards doesn't that make them really hard to deal or to get back in the box?

Your meter falls apart a bit now that it's lloyds-tsb i'm afraid.

I liked the Hollyoaks comment, spot on. Staff worked hard, made a real effort, looked out for people and made sure they were comfortable and were very friendly. That said, cocktails were very average and a bit samey (wybrovka vodka or havana especial, in everything!?!?) and weren't made with much craft (see acedout(?)'s post regards mojito, again, spot on). on the other hand, 2 for 1 for three hours and I was sure pickled. Will never be a favourite unless it changes it's tune a bit (and tunes, though there was some clash and talking heads tucked in that playlist somewhere), but best of luck to the lads, I wish them well. Oh, and there's some pretty darned good prosecco out there if you look for it; infinitely better value for money than champagne, where you need to spend ?25 a bottle absolute minimum to even approach flavour.
