There is a fantastic project in our neighbourhood that supports asylum seekers and refugees,SDCAS. They are facing significant funding cuts. I think the threat might be in their funding -- the council is cutting youth services and they will prioritise their own services (like putting money into Peckham Rye AP) vs. one in the voluntary sector. We need to fight to save our local services, and the DKAP is an important one! Its much more than an AP -- its a sanctuary for a lot of kids.

I fear that the consultation will mainly be dominated by people who don't like the plans -- drivers. Hoping people who support the plans -- pedestrians, cyclists, especially with young children (my child no longer young, but I agree with @Beulah, above) will submit a response.

I think its much better for cyclists. As a family who cycles, including with our son, going around the one-way system is quite fraught. Cars don't like us when we're on the right hand side, and if you're on the left hand side, you have to cross 2 lanes of traffic. There are buses in the way that you have to go around, and they may not see you coming around the corner (if you're going towards Peckham High street). Coming the other way, it makes no sense if you're going down Bellenden Road, to have to go around the one-way system. Personally, I would have no problem with it being 2 way for bikes, keeping it as it is for cars, as its often that way in other parts of the city, but apparently that wasn't an option. From a driving perspective, I would think there's an advantage of avoiding the one-way system, too, if you want to turn right at Blenheim grove to drop someone at the station.

What's the best way of dealing with these? I would like to see the administrator calling out people who just feel a need to make a grumpy remark which actually adds no value to a post whatsoever. If people want to make helpful suggestions, fine?.but why dump on someone else's' idea without being constructive? I'm not talking -- "I'm not sure this will work, as you'll need to think about x y or z" more like "idiots, bad idea, etc?". Rather than being cynical and critical, they should just remain silent. If no one responds, then the poster will know it was an idea that has no traction. If someone is selling something and the price is too high, then either negotiate down or say nothing. Again, the seller will know they were being unrealistic. I have just come back to ED having lived in another country and we had a Facebook site called "Put me in touch" with almost 20K members, a bit like the EDF. The admins called out trolls and banned them from posting. All comments on anyone's post had to be constructive in some way. Apologies if this has been suggested before.

There are no fixed ways of doing these things. We could set up a simple bread-making circle/club. Or create a community co-op which would need a space, but can be very basic. or ask to "borrow" spaces?.an oven that's lying dormant in the early hours at a school or college. I'm getting fed up with the price of good bread in this area up to ?4.50 and don't eat enough bread to keep my own regular starter alive. (I do bake non-sourdough, but its not as good). Do people think there's a demand to create a community bakery where people get involved, but can then access more affordable bread? I don't want to undercut local business, but I really think that everyone should be able to buy good bread.

I've been away for two years and went to make an appointment with my former GP at the Garden's surgery and was told that I was struck off their list as my address (Bellenden Road) is no longer in their catchment. So much for NHS choice. I have two questions: 1) Do people know if there is any way to overturn this decision? I liked this doctor and would like continuity of care, as I have a complicated medical history. 2) If not, what surgeries do people recommend near Bellenden Road?

I'm a big supporter of car clubs, but this one is outrageously expensive! A half an hour journey works out to double the rate of zipcar. Is there anyone out there using them? And if so, why?

Hello! We're looking to move overseas for a couple of years, and want to rent our house out with the minimum fuss possible, but ideally to get a decent return, as we need some income to fund our adventure. Its a 4 bedroom (loft conversion) Victorian terrace, (one room currently an office, but could fit a small double) with a large eat-in kitchen and a courtyard garden (about 20x20) in the Bellenden road area. Its in good decorative order. Roughly speaking, how much do people think is reasonable to charge? Is it better to use an agent or go private? Which agents do people recommend? And can one leave their furniture in the house or should it be unfurnished? And how hard is it to rent a house out? Residents only - no responses from agents please! Advice welcome! thanks.

Yes, misleading is an issue -- but I agree with some other posters that James Barber is probably more accessible than other councillors, and puts himself open for discussion (and it seems abuse). Re: the process, thanks for the clarification. So the real debate that we should be having is: - do we want retail space there or office space? Correct? In that regard, I would agree with james that we have quite a bit of retail space already, most of which needs supporting. So on this basis, it should be kept as office. And to put my cards on the table -- I don't vote libdem.

I think we should be pleased with a politician who is prepared to take a stance on something -- remember the days when politicians weren't just mediators, but had views? That's the only way we CAN hold them to account. The libdems, of course, are now getting a knocking because they went against their manifesto in the coalition gov't and they will pay a hefty price in the next election because of it. Regarding the application process, if they haven't stated what its going to be, don't the planning officers have to return the application unapproved unless it has sufficient information on which to base a decision for the local community? And if not, WHY not? If a neighbour is applying to extend their property, they have to let me know exactly what they're going to do and how the space will be used. Surely commercial space should be the same?
