  1. Is anyone aware of the potential impact of the plans (to close off one road on the triangle to cyclists and restrict traffic on the other side) on East Dulwich Road and Goose Green? It seems to me that there will be a large volume of traffic displacement (including lorries) through East Dulwich and Lordship Lane particularly at busy times, as a result. Link to consultation and the survey here: https://engage.southwark.gov.uk/en-GB/projects/peckham-rye-gyratory-bus-improvements
  2. Hi again - finally prised the information out of them by making a complaint to the Events team (not that they're trying to make it difficult to attend or anything!). Here are the details of the 'consultation' event on 29th January. Be good if people could go. LOCATION Upstairs at the Clock House Tavern 196 Peckham Rye London SE22 9QA LUCHTIME SESSION 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM EVENING SESSION 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
  3. The failure of the council year on year to prevent the corporate take-over of our precious public space is appalling. The consultation process this year is deliberately dumbed down and takes the form of a survey with a range of anodyne tick boxes designed to give the appearance of a 'consultation' without requiring any hard comment or information that could be used to oppose the survey. It may be possible to get some answers from Gala themselves so I will try to do that and post here if anything forthcoming.
  4. 6 nights means over a month of disruption as they set up for 2 weeks before and take down for 2 after. The consultation is a sham. I am on the stakeholder list but have not been 'contacted by email' as they say. What they are trying very hard to avoid is dealing with the environmental damage to the park caused year after year. The area has not recovered from 2 years ago and vehicle track marks are becoming entrenched. An environmental strategy simply meant a company putting up some orange wire and sewing some grass seed. The promises to make good last year were on paper only. This is a profit making activity that serves only the interests of the event organisers. Its not just Southwark - this article summed up the 'creeping privatisation' of common, public ground back in 2019 as councils 'sell' common land to private firms. https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2019/jul/05/revealed-how-london-parks-are-partly-privatised-festivals-wireless-finsbury-park. To get this overturned people need to respond to the consultation - can be done by email - and if possible attend the events. Also complain about Catherine Rose who is representing the interests of Gala festival over Southwark council tax payers and residents.
  5. Hi. I think it's important to remember that some people do want CPZ and that there are very strong reasons for this. Some streets have an impossible parking situation for residents for a number of reasons but often because of the rapid increase in 2 car ownership in Nunhead and East Dulwich. A lot of people with 2 cars are very vocal against the scheme for obvious reasons! The displacement from other streets is also a factor and there is an environmental concern for residents when street becomes an unofficial car-park for those who want free parking and can't find it elsewhere. I know that lots of people are against it but a lot of people are also for it but feeling too frightened to speak because of the strength of feeling this debate generates......
