Sat afternoon Lordship Lane.. Police incident.

Hello, we live near Goose Green playground and park our car on Adys Road. Over the last few months we've woken up to find that thieves have gained access to the car without breaking any windows or doors. The car is 10 years old so is not true keyless entry. There is a lock button on the key fob and we are wondering if this could have been cloned somehow. We never leave valuables in the car but is it annoying to find people have rifled through the car contents - especially in these COVID times. This time they actually left one of their gloves behind! Has anyone else experienced these soft break-ins please? Also for others do be careful what you leave in your car.

Parents, please spare a thought for home workers!

Have you asked the families annoying you to be quiet or is this a general rant at everyone with kids. The last few months have been hard on everyone especially kids. Give them a break. It's a nightmare trying to juggle work and kids specially today when it's hot and for most of East Dulwich also no internet. I would love to let mine run around the park all day but this isn't practical when you are on video calls. To keep the house cool they actually say keep doors and windows closed and draw the curtains so maybe you should do this to help with the heat and the noise -

Nearest bluebell woods to ED?
missyelliott replied to sillywoman's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
we went to Riverhill Gardens this weekend. Really lovely place and great Bluebells -
Dulwich lessons have got better. There is much more consistency in teaching now. Both my kids swim at the same time in different stages and it's so local. Yes they are never gonna to be as nice as some of the other places but it is a local authority centre.

Cycle lane at the top of Rye Lane
missyelliott replied to Lucymarianne's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I emailed the council about it a few years ago when they first did it. I asked why it wasn't painted a different colour. I can't even remember their reason but I remember thinking it was a lame response. Let me try and dig it out -

I normally switch to that in the darker months

This makes me so sad to read. I cycle back through the canal path as well. So now I feel I need to take a new route. You think cycling is the best means to get from A to B to collect your kids in time. Seems I am stuck between crap Thameslink trains and now bike mugging threats!

Primary school recommendation
missyelliott replied to allure79's topic in The Family Room Discussion
It really depends on which schools are in your catchment. Most schools in the area are really good though. If you search on here you'll find lots of opinions on the various schools. Probably best to visit all the schools in your catchment and go from there -
That's crazy. Our nursery has brought extra free standing air con units and has fans. They get them outside in the shade as much as possible too (I know that's harder in the baby rooms). Plus lots of water play and trips to shaded parks.

Hello We saw this event advertised but the ticket prices seemed very high. I was just wondering whether anyone went and whether it was any good / worth the money?

Uk holiday destinations please
missyelliott replied to midivydale's topic in The Family Room Discussion
The Isla of Wight is great. Getting the ferry over is fun too as it feel like you are going abroad but a really fun island with lots within very short driving distances. -
We had them visit Goose Green side too. They knock every 3 months or so and are usually decent guys just trying to get but the guy that came last week was really aggressive with me and very pushy and rude. I said I was putting my kids to bed and he just carried on ranting and arguing with me. It felt pretty threatening.

What to do in Dulwich with a 4 year old.
missyelliott replied to Pugwash's topic in The Family Room Discussion
It's call Punk me up -just near Goose Green playground where they can play first. Benches for you to sit down on too :) Also, the French house on Lordship Lane does have a play part downstairs but it may be more for younger kids. It will probably amuse her enough for you to have a coffee! Peckham soft play could be an option. They have on the hour sessions. Both libraries often have child sessions too. ED tots is a good place to get more info and the Hoop app if you have access to it If all else fails go to the pound shops and let them choose some craft activities for them to do at home. AJ Farmer on Lordship Lane also have a few cheap ish crafts to buy -
We had the same but it's got lots better since we filled the gaps in our hallway wooden floors. We also added a draft excluder to the door to the cupboard under the stairs (inside so not to see it). Maybe you could carpet the floor in the cupboard too if you have any cut offs.

For nannies and childminders it now seems to range from ?10 -?14 an hour plus a taxi / uber home if needed
