  1. I live opposite the Grove and it’s an eye sore and a fire hazard. Dulwich Estate should be ashamed of how they’ve let building just go to ruin. The skate park is a great edition. The creativity behind the build is to be commended. It’s always in use and there is normally a young woman in a high viz clearly rubbish and picking up trash, so it’s well looked after. The fact that parents bring their little ones here to use the skate park shows it has a purpose in the community. Unfortunately very late at night it’s used as a “party drinking zone” probably by people completely unrelated to the park. Last Saturday at 2am the music was blaring and you could hear the noise - incidents like this do cause an issue but it’s not the parks fault. We’ve already had 1 homeless chap living in that space and setting fire to it and that’s my main concern, that there will be a huge fire and someone will be injured or killed. Maybe Dulwich Estate wants it burnt down and declared derelict so then they can do what they want with the land - as I understand there is a “will covenant” regarding what they can do with it.
  2. Just did a post it’s called What Mother Made - mother & kids boutique
  3. What Mother Made - which is a zero waste, London hand made sustainable clothes shop for Mothers & kids - think it’s a bit like JoJo
  4. As we know Love Dulwich is now a Turkish meze grill restaurant and today they have started their lunch time special. A choice of a cold or hot starter (4 of each to choose from), plus a main meal (4 the choose from including a veggie meal) £15. I had hummus with the softest, warm bread to dip in it (you can ask for more bread) and then chicken shesh, 3 types of salad (onion & sumac, red cabbage & traditional leaf), bulgar - huge portions. The food was tasty and delicious. Chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy and full of flavour, salad was fresh and the bulgar was cooked perfectly. If you didn’t want the lunch special they also had the main menu which was small but with some amazing meal, chicken, veggie & fish options. We really enjoyed it and will be back to sample the evening menu as well.
  5. Just gone passed Love Dulwich cafe on the bus and there’s a sign outside stating “new Turkish restaurant opening soon” I spoke to the owner today and unfortunately due to the cost of living and the extremely high rent & rates on the lane (his are almost £100k) the cafe model isn’t working. Rather than give up and close down, he’s done quite a bit of research and is indeed going to reopen / rebrand as a Turkish restaurant from 14th March. He will be open lunch times (with lunch specials) and evenings with a selected Turkish grill & meze menu (plus veggie & vegan dishes). He’s a lovely chap and has a few businesses including a Turkish bakery in Penge so knows his stuff. Personally I’m sad that he’s closing as a cafe but extremely happy and excited he’s reopening as a Turkish restaurant.
  6. Southwark council website keeps coming up with server errors, does anyone know what day is bin day for lordship lane, up by the old harvester end?
  7. https://www.civilsociety.co.uk/news/social-enterprise-pressured-donors-and-wrongly-claimed-to-be-charity-says-regulator.html unfortunately they are claiming to be a charity. Last week I was approached and when I started asking questions where the money is going, do they have permission etc the supervisor came running over (he’s always around watching the teens) and his exact words were “if you’re not going to give any cash you need to move to and let my team earn their wage” when I asked him not to be aggressive he called me a “fat b*tch”. 3 members of the public witnesses it and a kind gentleman stepped in because he was afraid the guy was going to hit me. we called the police and this was reported and they confirmed they have alot of issues with this company and their aggressive tactics. again I am not telling anyone how to spend their money. If they want to give to this cause then please feel free just go your research (good and bad) and understand the money doesn’t go where you think it goes.
  8. I see White Stuff has gone. Anyone know what’s going there?
  9. There has been an increase of teenagers sell magazines outside Superdrug with the money going to a knife crime charity. There has recently been an article in the press highlighting that this organisation is being investigated by the police and charity committees, as they are not a registered charity and do not have a licence to sell on the street. The company was set up by 2 university student for overseas. They employ teens to sell the magazine for £5 and then push them to upsell and ask for further donations and even D/D. The teens are paid a set amount and earn bonuses for the amount of magazines they sell and a % of the upsell donation. This has nothing to do with knife crime and charity. How you spend your money is your choice, but please be mindful as they are targeting older people to get money.
  10. Service isn’t great (put this down to still training staff). Food was cold, not served properly and lacked flavour. Complained to the staff and sent an email no response.
  11. Pavement work was Virgin Media. They started work at 8pm and finished at 3:30am. So I had drilling all night. Not helpful. Someone (work men) gave The Grove a rush paint job this morning and badly covered some of the graffiti with brown paint
  12. Hummmm you have a point! Assumed they were council but they could’ve been a private company.
  13. So this morning we woke up to a flurry of activity by council workers at the Old Grove Tavern. They’ve removed all the fly posters from the outside hoarding. They are jet washing the outside to remove some of the graffiti and we’re pulling up weeds in the path section. I know the local kids have moved in for the skate park but does this mean something else is happening. There isn’t anything on the council planning website. Anyone know?
  14. Yes we spoke and got a mouth full of abuse. We emailed the local council, and the local MP and they did nothing. Even wash my house was full of smoke and it set off all my smoke alarms and I was rushed into hospital with asthma attack no one did anything.
  15. So next door to Millie’s Nails (the old pop up) is going to be an Argentine bakery food shop. Does anyone know what’s going on to Tandoori Nights, that’s being ripped out.
