We stayed here last summer. It's by no means a luxury cottage but it was clean, really cosy and had a great view. The owners live in the adjacent property and were very welcoming too. Other recommendations: A trip to Lynton/Lynmouth- do the stroll up to Watersmeet- there's a beautiful small NT house with a cafe at the end The Grampus Inn, Lee (honestly the best cream teas/cakes)

Provisionally, Southeaastern will be operating services from Nunhead, Peckham Rye, Denmark Hill, West Dulwich and Herne Hill Victoria service Swanley ? Victoria ? two trains per hour - calling at all stations via Catford Loop. Beckenham Junction ? Victoria ? two trains per hour - calling at all stations via Herne Hill. The revised timetable will be in operation between 07:00 and 19:00 with no service running outside of these times.

When you touch the Oyster button and then place you card against the reader you get a screen as follows: ________________________________________________________ Oyster Balance = ?xxxx (Top up PAYG button) ________________________________________________________ Travelcards which have been loaded (Renew/Add new travelcard button) ________________________________________________________ (Add oyster extension permit button) ________________________________________________________ If you're balance is below ?1.50, a message is displayed to say you need a min balance to add an extension permit Unfortunately the ticket office won't be able to do it as the hardware isn't in place to do so Hope that helps, SS

Yes and Yes- you can start, break (i.e. leave the station) and resume your journey at any station between ED and London Terminals (both Vic and London Bridge in this case)

The way I understand it is that London Overground are a Train Operating Company- TOC (in the same way as Southern). However, they operate on behalf of TfL whereas all the other TOCs operate on behalf of Network Rail. As such London Overground zonal fares are the same as those on the tube.

There is planned engineering work taking place between Tulse Hill and London Bridge with a rail replacement bus in operation until 4.00 am tomorrow morning. There should have been a notice outside the front of the station.

The cap would be at ?6.30 (the price of a travelcard to cover the zones travelled in, 1-4 in this case). There are off-peak and peak price caps. However, if you begin your journey off-peak, then the off-peak cap applies even if subsequent travel that day takes place in peak hours.

A few ideas: Saddlebags/Pannier bags Jacket (waterproof/reflective) Some good lights Bike computer Brooks leather saddle (quite pricey but very nice and comfy!) Some bike shops do maintenance courses (anything from a couple of hours to few days depending on what you like) which are good. If he's already fairly handy mechanically, then a decent cycle toolkit and maintenance book is a great investment- saves a packet on repairs and keeps everything moving nicely

The A2 between Borough and Blackheath

The Cartoon Museum (Little Russell St, nr British Museum, ?5.50) Loads of political cartoons, comics, charicatures etc. Great museum, really fun and informative. New London Architecture Centre (Store St, nr British Museum, Free) The NLA galleries have some fairly interesting displays including 2012 Olympics plans andLondon borough proposals. However, the big draw is the huge 3D model of London that covers half the floor. Really worth popping in if you're nearby and havn't before.

A variety of positions at the new Sainsburys were being advertised at Peckham Jobcentre last week. They also had a whole array of jobs going at Morrisons in Peckham. I'd just give the Jobcentre a ring first to see if they are still available (they may be on the jobcentreplus website?)

So I was watching Jimmy's Food Factory on BBC last night and whilst being mesmerised by the manufacture of Viennetta- it struck me how much I'd love to visit a factory. I know there exists Cadbury World with momentary glimpses of real working factory and some breweries open their doors. Does annybody know of any other opportunities that exist (not necessarily food related) where you can go and see something being made on such a massive scale?

+1 for charlie charlie's suggestion. Was recently at Diwana and it's consistently good. Delicious (absolutely huge) dosa's - no fuss, excellent value for money. ** Oh too late! **

It's in Peckham Rye Common where the Common meets Peckham Rye Park (on Strakers Road). It's a very friendly, nice little cafe with good quality food in my experience
