  7. Hi there. I jist chanced across this ad from a while ago so thought I wpuld drop tou a line. I assume these positions got filled? My daughter is looking for some part time work on Sundays (we are Nunhead based) but I presume any vacancies are filled now. But if you ever get any more... Thanks so much, Sophie
  8. Hi all I am just seeking advice on the relative merits of the various local sixth forms - Charter, Kingsdale, Haberdashers, Sydenham, Harris, Prendergast. My daughter is thinking about changing for sixth form as the school she is at has a very scientific bent and she is more interested in Humanities and also wants somewhere with a strong Product Design department. If anyone has any objective thoughts on the various schools I would appreciate your input. This is not a purely academic query, wellbeing and support is as important, and she also has some issues with dyslexia so an insight into SEN would be helpful. Thanks in advance
  9. Hi there I know you posted this ages ago, but did your daughter go to newstead, and if so how is she finding the school and the travel - how does she get there? My daughter is sitting the test on Friday, and though I know the chances of success are slim, I'm still really interested to know how it works from us. We are Nunhead-based. It seems like a bit of a trek, but she really liked the school. Would appreciate any thoughts please. thanks
  10. I have no clue how they figure it out, and have managed to make it all so complicated. Still if you don't try then you never know I guess! Thanks.
  11. Hi all We have to apply for secondary schools this October and I am just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of the Kingsdale sports scholarship system, and what level of attainment is required for the specialist scholarship. The whole system seems bonkers and over complicated to me, so any advice much appreciated. My daughter does 13 hours a week of gymnastics and competes at regional level, and while she is OK, she is not stellar, so I am wondering if the general scholarship would be more suitable. Thoughts please. Ta
  12. Hi there Few questions about loft conversions: has anyone ever had one done that has come in on budget and on time? We are considering it and was wondering if the inital quotes are ever realistic (and if not how much more you should have in hand), and when they say fit finished in 6 weeks - surely it is more like 3 months? Also, has anyone ever used Dulwich Lofts? Any thoughts on them? And can you recommend a good local independent architect. Thanks in advance.
  13. I am looking for a first bike for my daughter for xmas - she will be 5 in March. Does anyone have any advice about buying a bike or even a bike to get rid of. She has a younger brother, so I want to avoid a girlie pink number - which most of the girls bikes seem to be. but then all the boys ones seem to be really masculine. Help?! thanks
