Missing post since sorting office moved to peckham
GinaG3 replied to nina_maniana's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Taking 10-14 days for post to arrive with me right now! And the postmen we've got delivering are shockingly bad. Had post for west Norwood address yesterday, its miles away!! We always get next doors, they get ours, someone comes from 3 streets down. Its become a nightmare. -
Alarm going off at Jags - anyone know caretaker?
GinaG3 replied to lauras231279's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Their alarm has been going off an awful lot lately, the other day it did it for about 3/4 hours. I?m right behind the school so we have all of sudden started hearing it a lot! Wonder if it?s to do with ongoing building works as it?s only become a problem since they started, never heard it in all the years before! -
Lordship Lane Co Op - still a shambles
GinaG3 replied to tomskip's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
A few weeks ago I shopped in. Coop by using my iPhone torch as it was pitch black in the middle of the day. The chilled veg aisle was shut as flooded. Staff are often in their coats as no heating. When it was taken over and frontage was changed the whole store should of undergone a refurb. It must be a total money pit! -
Looking at their social media their main events happen in indigO2 or other similar locations so this is a bit crazy. I live just the other side of st Olaves field, I dread to think what the noise is like in the cul de sac, even Sainsbury's car park. I'm fine with noise, I'm fine with parties, we have Dulwich hamlet noise every weekend, I expect noise in London but this is epic proportions. It's almost like living in Glastonbury! My house is still shaking. Cannot believe at all that this can be allowed in a residential area. The swearing and cussing is loud aswell as it's being blared over the PA. it's kids bedtime in 5 minutes and this doesn't sound it's going to stop st 8, if it does we will probably have a lot of shouting and screaming coming along greendale towards our house too. Fun times!

My house is actually shaking! I'm next to JAGS. Wondered what was going on it's much more than the usual football noise. The bass is insane, I'd hate to be standing next to that, you'd be deaf!!!!

Can you still get biodegradable bags for garden waste
GinaG3 replied to twinhunters's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes but I haven't had any luck in the last month. Their stock goes really quuxk, they're delivered every Thursday to Dulwich Library -
My mums a host, outside London though. She's required to offer breakfast and dinner. ?120 per student per week is the rate set by the international school they come from.

Anyone seen a lonesome doodle anywhere? Went to letsom gardens and came down dog kennel hill to Sainsbury's and along greendale, one lost shoe. They are only just new. Anyone reunite us please?
-
It finishes at 9, I just checked. Normally fireworks right at the end. Just had to check out their auction as they've been drivelling on about it all day. I live right next to JAGS so I too can hear every word, infact they're almost in my garden.

Today my mum (who is here visiting me from the coast) lost her purse on Lordship Lane. Little did we know that while we were frantically tracing our steps and cancelling all her cards a lady had picked it up, taken the cards to the bank, who had called to say cards had been handed in and a mobile number left to collect the purse. 3 long hours later she was reunited with her missing purse and faith in humanity was restored. We must of been steps behind each other the whole time as we had both been to all the same places today. Good people still exist! Huge thank you to this woman and her husband!

I'm in if this exists too. I'm a single mum to 2 girls aged 7 and 16 months.

Issues with Virgin Media - anyone having similar problems?
GinaG3 replied to colbol2010's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've had success with multiple high ultilisation ticket discounts on my contract. My service was down from 10.30-12 today near Alleyns. I haven't actually had many issues in the last few months though, except the price hike they sprung on me for the first time in 6 years! I'm moving from virgin when my contract is up in 2 months but I'm not entirely sure where I'll go as Sky and BT are both worse than Virgin in my view. -
reception staff at The Gardens Surgery
GinaG3 replied to Anna D's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'm sorry to hear this. Ive been a patient for 5 years, from my experience they've always been great, they all know me well and always have a friendly chat when I'm in there. They've fulfilled any request I've had, even beyond their duty sometimes. Sometimes they are quite short and seem annoyed, although I've only found this in the mornings whine trying to book an emergency appointment, they have extremely busy though and had a huge influx of patients which resulted in the morning telephone and queue outside just getting bigger. I imagine it's quite a stressful role in the morning, trying to answer the phone that's ringing constantly and dealing with people at reception too. Don't write them off of its only been the one occasion. It's not an easy job they are doing. -
There is also a new app called OLIO, you can advertise free food for collection to local people. Businesses participate too and advertise cakes, pastries etc to minimise end of day waste.

I'm looking at ED tots but not getting anywhere. I need recommendations.. I'm going through a really hard time at the moment and trying to focus everything in to my children, as I've always done. I need stuff to do every weekday with my 10 month old while my 6 year old is at school. My problem is that I find a lot of baby groups in ED really cliquey and that's not something I want to be walking in to right now as that put me off doing anything with my 6 year old when she was a baby. Bessemer was great but now it's gone and groups have been moved to other buildings i'm finding its not as good. Does anyone go to groups at dog kennel hill/albrighton? I know you ladies can help. Thanks in advance.

First birth on the labour ward. Faultless. Great care and great birth. Second birth in midwife led unit. Again, absolutely amazing. Relaxed and still leaves me speechless and makes me smile. If, I had a third birth I wouldn't hesitate to go to Kings. We're lucky, maternity wise.

Trilogy oils are a big hit in my family. I've just started using the rosehip oil again after my second baby. I was really struggling with tight, dry itchy skin on my face and neck. First use, noticed dramatic difference. I also love how cost effective it is, its natural too. They have a fair few different products in the range and have different types of oils to suit different skins and age ranges.

We have all the Toca Boca series. Sago mini is a hit too. OF COURSE, minecraft pocket edition!! Bamba are cute too! We also have lego apps, the sims and what feels like the whole app store which get rotated when she finds something new on the app store she wants. iPad is full so she has to delete to make way for something new so we are always clearing out and refreshing our collection but Toca Boca always remains, firm favourite.

I don't have the 100mb package but do have the 50mb one. I've been with virgin for 5 years and never received even close to the speed I paid for, they always maintained the package was 'upto X speed'. I lived on dulwich common for most of this time and it was horrendous. I'm now on the other side of Dulwich, nearer Herne Hill and finally get the speeds advertised. In fact I'm mainly getting 52mbps all day and night when it might drop to 47mbps or so. Upload speeds are reaching 3mbps.

Toddler night terrors -any experiences?
GinaG3 replied to BeadyBoo's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I was a sufferer of night terrors until I was 11, including sleepwalking. My daughter seems to have carried this on, she's 6. We notice they only seem to happen around times of stress, latest was moving house and having a new baby (at the same time!!!!). It also happens mainly with colds, when she goes to bed with a stuffy nose and especially with temperature. I know from my own experience that I grew out of them, mine were worst from age 8 when my youngest brother was born and the dynamic of our family changed. At 11 they stopped but carried on intermittently until I was around 14. My parents always left me to it, with the terrors they tried to stop them during the night but couldn't, with the sleep walking they tried to carry me back to bed but that failed too. In the end they just let it all play out, I always found my way back to bed after doing some very random stuff. I never had any recollection in the morning so could never actually quite believe the stories that become some form of tradition around the breakfast table. We just leave our daughter, we've tried waking but nothing gets through to her (she's fully in deep sleep mode when it happens) and actually I think can sometimes make it worse waking them. I hate hearing her crying in the night, sometimes she screams, other times its just sobbing. I find it very difficult to leave her and it breaks my heart every time but I can't find another conclusion. I'm sorry I don't have any tips for you but just so you know it is actually quite common. Good luck, hopefully you will be through it soon, I know how difficult it can be. -
We always planned to have floating shelves in our daughters room with the 'made' sets on them, as display etc. Alas, the walls in our new house are crap so won't hold up the shelves we bought - therefore all the lego is in sort and store heads, a girl and a boy. A few sets are on her trofast unit but only minecraft sets from christmas and a giant coast guard boat that won't even fit in a box!

Gifts for arrival of newborn (2nd child)
GinaG3 replied to LouLouMoving's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Second time around I could not live without our baby gaga bean bag. Seriously. My best EVER baby purchase! I've even converted others. -
I don't want to hear this about Camberwell. Its so close that I can't bare the thought of going anywhere else. My baby is 7 weeks old but I desperately need to get a coil fitted. My GP said Camberwell does do bookable appointments, as I can't wait there with the baby for hours on end as a walk in! She highly recommended the Bermondsey FPC. I'm not looking forward to getting this sorted at all. Most GP surgeries have someone that can fit now. My last coil failed and GP's couldn't insert so I was offered to be referred to Kings but refused, I've since had the option to have it done under general anaesthetic twice and refused again. After this baby I need to try the coil again but I'm not looking forward to it. Anyone else had someone fail to insert before? If so, what did you do after, where did you go?

I've had two babies at Kings, although both were vaginal births. I wouldn't have a second thought about delivering there or recommending delivering there. My first birth (6 years ago!) was all fine, my wishes were respected, I was cared for compassionately and everything went smoothly. The only downside to my first birth was the aftercare in the ward could of been better, I discharged myself 9 hours after birth as I couldn't stand the claustrophobic nature of hospital and the emotional wangle of the ward staff over my daughters reluctance to breastfeed, she was hours old! With my first I laboured in kings for 3 hours, for those 3 hours I was looked after by the same person and had no intervention, I was asked at every stage what I wanted to do. I just had my second there 5 weeks ago, and the care somehow excelled the first birth experience. I would go as far as to say my care there was exceptional. I had a lot of problems during the pregnancy with my blood, phlebotomy were great, the obstetricians were great, my community care was brilliant and all round I felt very reassured through a very stressful time. I chose to birth in the midwife led unit with this birth and it was incredible - yes I'd go as far as to say that. I laboured for 1.5 hours and panicked a bit at the speed of my labour but they relaxed me quickly. I gave birth in a relaxed environment, with no help, no intervention and no monitoring. I was again given options all along the way, had no-one telling me what to do, midwife helped me birth by myself, giving us plenty of space. I had 3 midwives present due to shift change and a student being involved. They were great with delaying cord clamping and a physiological third stage labour even when it was starting to take longer than they would like. Yet again I discharged myself for my own sanity but the ward staff this time were much better (I even had the same woman, who had remembered my tantrum about discharge 6 years ago!) I'd recommend Kings hands down for their care of pregnant women, even more so now than with my first birth. No matter what happened in my labour I would of felt safe in their hands. I won't use certain other Kings departments, and prefer to be under the care of St Thomas' or Guys but for pregnancy I'd stick with Kings. We're lucky to have such brilliant care so close.
